Why does TLC keep switching all by itself to some site called newsladder.net. Is anyone else having this problems?
Posted by CG at April 4, 2008 10:45 AMcg,
maybe clear your cache?
Posted by Turkana at April 4, 2008 10:54 AMHmmm. Maybe Democrats should stop calling McCain a "moderate". That might help in November. Just a thought.
Posted by space at April 4, 2008 10:56 AMBut remember, in Hillaryworld(tm) you have to vote for McKranky if you don't get your pony.
Because Obama is teh evil, and not to think so is sexist!
Posted by SnarkyShark at April 4, 2008 11:08 AMsnarkyshark,
and in obamaworld any topic can be spun into a slam on hillary. even a post about bush and mccain.
Posted by Turkana at April 4, 2008 11:11 AMOh thank you TackySnark! Your clever banter has convinced me to join you in your noble quest for banality.
Posted by DoubtingThomas at April 4, 2008 11:15 AMAnd how many times have we seen Hillary loving TLC posters claim they will vote for McKranky?
The fact that anybody says this is cause for some mocking.
And I will mock that idea at every opportunity.
I have always said I will vote for the nominee.
And I think it is important for all the 5 year olds to see what their little pique will result in
That said, if you think I am starting a pie fight, then I will take a time out and contemplate that:)
Posted by SnarkyShark at April 4, 2008 11:18 AMOh thank you TackySnark! Your clever banter has convinced me to join you in your noble quest for banality.
The only quest I want you to join in is making sure that McKranky doesn't get elected.
That doesn't seem to be a priority in certain circles.
If this offends you, then maybe its your circle.
Just a thought
Posted by SnarkyShark at April 4, 2008 11:21 AMheh-
well, given that no one else posted in this thread about the democratic horse race, a time out might be appropriate. this poll is good news for whoever wins the dem nomination!

"The only quest I want you to join in is making sure that McKranky doesn't get elected."
Then please don't assume because I support Hillary now that I will not vote for whoever the democratic nominee is in November. Or take some responsibility that your post was meant to irk Hillary supporters and not to insure McCain doesn't get elected as you now claim.
Posted by DoubtingThomas at April 4, 2008 11:33 AMAnd how many times have we seen Hillary loving TLC posters claim they will vote for McKranky?
Zero.
This has been another episode of simple answers to stupid questions.
Posted by iamcoyote at April 4, 2008 11:53 AMMcCranky.
McCan't.
McCrotchety.
However you spell it, he's a loser.
Just btw, thought you might have something to say about Mark Penn working on a trade deal with Colombia while Clinton is (allegedly) against such deals?
Here's what Clinton had to say when it was reported that one of Obama's foreign policy advisors had suggested to a Canadian official that the Illinois senator was not as anti-free trade as he was claiming to be on the trail.
"I don't think people should come to Ohio and tell the people of Ohio one thing and then have your campaign tell a foreign government something else behind closed doors," Clinton said then. "That's the kind of difference between talk and action and that I've been pointing out in this campaign."
"I would ask you to look at that story, substitute my name for Senator Obama," she also said. "If some of my advisers had been having private meetings with foreign governments and basically saying ignore what I'm saying because it's only political rhetoric … I think it raises serious questions."
Well, today we can "substitute [her] name for Senator Obama" and the very situation she described has occurred. So, like she said, it should raise serious questions about the legitimacy of her trade stance, right?
Posted by balthus at April 4, 2008 12:00 PMIn spite of the 81% Americans saying the country is on the wrong path, come November Republicans will use the National security, Gay marriage, Abortion and such proven cards and with the divide between Obama and Clinton turning off lot of voters, I think McCain has a very good chance to win Whitehouse. Especially if McCain can have Romney as his running mate to strengthen his weakness for Economy issues.
Posted by suresh at April 4, 2008 12:03 PMWhen you can't spin it against Obama, you must ignore it.

Well, I have seen it at least 3 times including but not limited to grandmother.
But maybe you are only seeing what you want to see.
So maybe this is really a case of stupid answers to simple questions.
Posted by SnarkyShark at April 4, 2008 12:10 PMOr take some responsibility that your post was meant to irk Hillary supporters and not to insure McCain doesn't get elected as you now claim.
I only want to irk Hillary supporters who will take their ball and go home. And they deserve it.
If this is not you, then I applaud your enthusiasm and passion for your candidate.
Just don't let it turn into a Nader situation,
because we all know that turned out so well.

Agreed.
It's pretty pathetic that people can't even stop sniping at each other on the day marking the 40th anniversary that MLK was murdered.
Posted by snark at April 4, 2008 12:24 PMIt's pretty pathetic that people can't even stop sniping at each other on the day marking the 40th anniversary that MLK was murdered.
Is that more important than the little Iraq girl that got blown apart today by some errant artillery shell today in Mosul? How about that Calvary Scout that bled out sobbing for his mother in the sewage stained street in Sadr city yesterday?
Point is, there is serious shit going on that has to be addressed. Sniping on a blog is part of that process.
Dude has a street named after him in every city over 400 people. I bet he would be happy htat we are in a process of trying to get either the first woman or the first black man elected president.
I think that is quite an appropriate way to celebrate his life.
But if you want to sit around and be all morose and shit, have at it. For now, its still a free country.

Never heard of the gramma, she's not a regular here, so unless you've got proof that she was a Hillary supporter not a rightwing troll, you've got nothing - well, except for an anger management problem, and a lack of respect for other people. Which makes you kinda suspect as a right wing troll yourself.
Posted by iamcoyote at April 4, 2008 01:20 PMoooh- snarkfight
Dude, you owe me a new monitor. I spewed my Diet Coke all over it!
That was pretty damn funny.

Posted by SnarkyShark at April 4, 2008 01:22 PMwell, except for an anger management problem, and a lack of respect for other people.
I used to have respect for you back when I posted here on a regular basis. I just lost every bit of it with this post of yours.
But do go on
Posted by SnarkyShark at April 4, 2008 01:24 PM$109 million....that's a lot of speeches. No wonder Hill can kick a few mil into her campaign when fundraising falls short. I bet she wasn't calling Bill's speeches "just talk" when he was raking in that kind of moolah.
Posted by T2 at April 4, 2008 01:44 PMseriously some people have issues (snarkyshark this is for you). this blog is about how americans are feeling and why voting for john mccain is a bad idea. why can't you stick to the topic at hand and take your divisive baiting elsewhere. it's neither productive or helpful to anyone and makes you look like an arrogant, ignorant ass. however, if you are an arrogant, ignorant ass, i apologize for presuming otherwise.
Posted by kacey at April 4, 2008 02:12 PMI used to have respect for you back when I posted here on a regular basis.
I pity you for turning into whatever it is you turned into.
Posted by iamcoyote at April 4, 2008 02:15 PMI pity you for turning into whatever it is you turned into.
I am the same guy I was when we used to agree.
Maybe you have changed. I pity you when your candidate loses fair and square, and you go insane.
Or maybe you already have. In your original quote, you stated flat out that no one had ever said what I claimed. Then you devolved into if someone did say it they must be a troll(proving you do know they said it). And then to complete the journy into la la land you accuse me of being a right wing troll. Do you also see right wing trolls hiding under your bed?
seriously some people have issues (snarkyshark this is for you). this blog is about how americans are feeling and why voting for john mccain is a bad idea.
I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were the founder. I had always assumed this was Steve Soto's
blog. My original posting on this thread was an attempt to shame any and all partisan candidate supporters who claim they will vote for McKranky if their preferred choice doesn't get the nod.
Since I have never seen an 'Obamabot' make this claim on this particular blog, then that by the reality of the situation must go out to the Hillary supporters.
If your intention was to vote for whoever the nominee is, then I wasn't talking too or at you or mocking you.
If your first instinct is to lash out, then I probably was.

Posted by iamcoyote at April 4, 2008 02:40 PMPoor thing. I just realized. You're a tweaker. How sad.
You really shouldn't blog while drunk. You don't handle you liquor very well and frankly its embarrassing.
Posted by SnarkyShark at April 4, 2008 02:42 PMSorry, Turkana, I know I shouldn't encourage the trolls...
Back to the topic - the worst part of your exerpt is this:
Although the public mood has been darkening since the early days of the war in Iraq, it has taken a new turn for the worse in the last few months, as the economy has seemed to slip into recession.
So basically, if it doesn't hit their pocketbooks, Americans aren't all that interested? Which means the murder of tens of thousands of Iraqis, the rapes of our women soldiers and contractors by American soldiers and contractors, the lack of care for vets, the pillaging of the treasury, etc, and etc, meant nothing until it actually started making people pay more at the pump, or in the grocery store? Yep. Sounds about right. It's always the economy, stupid, isn't it?
And since most of the masses don't really know what path we're really on, anyone saying they'll make a change will do, right? So what happens when all of them promise change? We get stupid comments like the ones above. Awesome!
Posted by iamcoyote at April 4, 2008 03:18 PMSorry, Turkana, I know I shouldn't encourage the trolls...
Sez you.
You shouldn't blog while drunk.
My post was on topic.....YOU got personal...and then you got back what you were slinging.
I believe in treating people the way they treat me, and thats how you got treated.
Atrious can get away with SATSQ, but you blew it trying to be cute.
We are both progressives. I will vote for the Nominee. If that is your position, then we have no problems. If you are so wrapped up in one candidate that it blinds you to all reason, then you need to back up and look in the mirror.
But calling me a troll is wrong, its personal, and it is conduct unbecoming and indicative of your lack of substance through this whole discussion. You aint the resident troll designator, so Id appreaciate it if youd ease up off my back.
Save all that vitrol for McKranky, unless of course he is your second choice.
Posted by SnarkyShark at April 4, 2008 03:32 PMcoyote,
it's the stanford experiment- and who cares if people are dying halfway around the world, just so i can afford a new flat screen tv and a wii!
Posted by Turkana at April 4, 2008 03:36 PMAnd I do apologize to Turkana. It was my intention to step away as indicated in one of my posts above.
But smarmy little responses with no substance get my goat and I feel compelled to defend my position.
As stated by me in the post above I agree with the premise of the original post.
You will also note I never tried to do a sales job for any candidate, and consistently stated that we should all vote for the nominee in an atempt to thwart McKranky.
The level of hostility to that position is eye-opening and disturbing.
Posted by SnarkyShark at April 4, 2008 03:53 PMSnark, you got a "smarmy little response" because you're original quote was smarmy. You used the term "Hillaryworld" suggesting anyone for Hillary was threatening to vote McCain if she didn't get the nod. That's what prompted my smarmy response to you. It has nothing to do with being hostile to your position and everything to do with how you phrased your original comment. I understand there may have been some who took that attitude with you in past threads, but I certainly didnt' see it in this thread and I may have misunderstood your original comment, but smarmy is how it read to me. I agree with you that anyone who claims to be a (D) and threatens to vote (R) should expect to be shamed.
Posted by at April 4, 2008 04:39 PMSo BushAmericans are a load of unhappy campers, and don't like what Bushco hath wrought, what a shame.
Too bad most won't be able to figure out what to do about their "dissatisfaction" after the the conservative MSM gets done with them by Nov. They can't think straight anymore, as the election of 2004 made clear.
Most of our policy options have been foreclosed by the lies, incompetence and corruption of Bushco, so getting off the wrong track and onto some "correct" one will be extremely difficult at this point, even if McRube were defeated---which is very problematic given the severe split in the Dem party.
Some messes can't be cleaned up---we'd need a Hercules to clean these Augean stables.
Posted by euzoius at April 4, 2008 04:55 PMMy original posting on this thread was an attempt to shame any and all partisan candidate supporters who claim they will vote for McKranky if their preferred choice doesn't get the nod
That's a blatant lie. This is what you said in your first post:
But remember, in Hillaryworld(tm) you have to vote for McKranky if you don't get your pony.
Because Obama is teh evil, and not to think so is sexist!
Therefore, by your own post you are suggesting that only Obama supporters are nonpartisan. Perhaps if you did what you are now CLAIMING, then you wouldn't have received some of the posts that you have. Don't backtrack now bc you have been called on it. Be yourself, and accept responsibility for all that you do.
iamcoyote: "And how many times have we seen Hillary loving TLC posters claim they will vote for McKranky?
Zero...."
perhaps technically true, they just said they would sit out the election, thus objectively voting for McBush
Posted by gay veteran at April 5, 2008 11:03 AMCBS has some anti-immigration program coming out soon to work up some racist fence building frenzy. The commercial I saw said that Mexican women were coming across the border to have their children. Then they had a clip of some guy saying the women were entering the emergency room soakin wet apparently suggesting they had just swam the Rio Grande.
I wonder how big a problem this really is and if CBS will ever ask that question.
