Comments: Just When You Thought It Couldn't Get More Surreal

Why do you seem to get so excited when you get to report casualties?

You sound like a panting puppy!!

jj,

you're as tone deaf as you are wrong about everything else.

Turkana,

You're spot on here. Pistol Petraeus is really more talented than Westy but you're close. He's MacArthur, who was at the same time a briiliant general in battle but also insanely political. Davey's real ambitious but he's got shorter term goals than 2012. He wants to be Fallon's successor but he has to give Cheney and Bush a cassus belli for attacking Iran. Which he's going to do this week, I gather.

After that, who knows? But that what's next. Pay Clemon's no mind on Petraeus in 2012--it's a bee in his bonnet, which he's had for a while.

Thanks for your response.

Just wondering.

Have a good evening!!

A sure sign that Iraq is not functioning in the slightest way as a "democracy", hasn't the slightest aspect of a "democracy", is the blithe renewal of SSBlackwater's state department contract, which I think I saw reported today.

They kill over a dozen Iraqis in cold blood angering the whole country, the Iraqi "PM" blusters SS-Water won't be allowed to stay in Iraq another day, and a few months later the Imperial forces renew the contract of these brutal overseers, with not even a bleat from the "elected" Iraqi executive, who doesn't appear to have a care in the world about how such a thing looks to the "voters". Pretty funny.

Democracy in action, that's for sure!

I didn't realize "The Green Zone" housed the Iraqi gumment too. I'm sure that grates on average Iraqi citizens, seeing the puppetry for what it is.

Getting desperate Turkana? Wonder what MoveOn.org will do for an encore? ABC has General Petraeus and Amb. Crocker for Nightline Tuesday night, a full hour!

This is shaping up to be another 2004. Bad news all year long and McOld getting elected in November. All thanks to those Democrats who divided the party on Super duper Fat Tuesday. Don't blame the media, the MSM, someone "swift boating", blame Democrats. You/they did it to themselves. They voted for this mess. Many didn't have their votes count. This is all on you.

That Petraeus, Betray Us ad is starting to sound less and less inflammatory. And as far as inspiring leadership, Petraeus ain't it.

This isn't a war in Iraq, it's convoy duty across the Atlantic, only the wolf packs belong to Germany, Vichy France, The Free French, Ireland, England (yes, they just torpedo US ships, not UK ships), and Mexico.

Now, name the people who led the convoys across the Atlantic, or to Murmansk. Without a googling.

But you can name the Generals and Admirals who led forces across the sweep of the Pacific Ocean and the North African Desert and the fields of France and Germany, the Steppes of Russia.

Petraeus who?

And even when some losers make a hash of their talking points, nobody cares what you say, because you are a traitor to the ideals of the Declaration of Independence.

Actually, we now know that it was Rushbo's Repubs who gamed the primaries in Tex-ass and OH, giving Hillary her "win" in Texass and making it seem (falsely) like she had a commanding win in OH.

The Boston Globe recently looked at the votes and determined that Hillary won in Tex-ass solely because of Repub votes. I sincerely doubt a single Tex-ass Repub is looking forward to voting for Hillary in Nov.

And Duckman is right---GenPet is merely the commander of a brutal, grinding, illegal occupation, whose goal now is to game "elections" so that compliant "governments" exist that will not demand we get the hell out of their country and leave their oil alone.

Not the stuff of proud history, no matter how many "Petraeus the Hero" posters peter has plastered in his basement crapper.

pants pissing peter: "This is shaping up to be another 2004."

really, wonder how many Americans are better off today than they were 4 years ago

recession, war, inflation....McBush has a pretty steep hill to climb (though of course the korporate media will help him)

"Pistol Petraeus is really more talented than Westy...."

Talented at what? The only real talent that man has is self-promotion, and clearly he is amazing at that.

"He's MacArthur, who was at the same time a briiliant general in battle..."

Huh?! Brilliant in battle?! Name one success Petraeus has had in Iraq. Just one. And would you care for a list of his failures there?

"...but also insanely political."

That's all Petraeus really is - political. Of course he has presidential ambitions. He has said so, if not for 2012, then for 2016.

Petraeus was successful in losing track of over 100,000 weapons
