"maybe the Iraqi military could be doing a better job..."
Yeah, they could be doing a better job of acting as proxies for the occupation - aka being traitors.
And you know, I just love the way, when Iraqis refuse to fight and kill their fellow Iraqis on behalf of foreign invaders, the assumption is that they are running away "cowardly".

the iraqi military will defend itself when it has actual enemies to defend itself from. playing our war game is not worth their lives, and they know it.
Posted by Turkana at April 17, 2008 02:20 PMSo this time around, instead of a greencollar draft, it's starting with a whitecollar draft?

Well, it DOES have actual enemies - the occupiers - but at the moment it would not be smart to try to fight them, so they do not - at least they do not while "on duty" as members of the proxy occupation force. Many of them DO fight the actual enemies in their "off hours", though.
"playing our war game is not worth their lives, and they know it."
Yup! Precisely so.
