if you are going to weave a rug, you have to pick a corner to start in.
no start, no end.
don't give up on conyers too quickly.
he is very persistent.
this action establishes a congressional concern and a congressional demand.
talk with emptywheel.
Posted by orionATL at April 17, 2008 08:19 PMgiven the administration's history of ignoring invitations, requests, and demands, this is nothing but a waste of time. and there isn't time to waste.
Posted by Turkana at April 17, 2008 08:25 PMi'm (always) skeptical too.
but keep watching.
again, you have to initiate a legal/constitutional action.
conyers has done that.
Posted by orionATL at April 17, 2008 08:55 PMIt's so fucking frustrating... I'm always writing my congressman, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva. He's a good Progressive.
It seems as if the bu$h administration created so much criminal activity most folks don't know where to start or which one to get traction with.
Posted by Seven of Six at April 17, 2008 09:50 PMOne hopes for the success of the Judiciary Committee. But will the cheney/bush regime pay any more attention to this attempt at oversight than they have any other demands by Congress (i.e. none)?
Posted by jwrjr at April 17, 2008 10:06 PMI'm the pessimistic sort....just thinking...how those Meier, Bolten subpoenas are working out again...not. Cheney-bush are just running out the clock...and Congress's Democracy and oversight wheel turns too slowly to nail the bastards especially with the current Administration's highly proficient ability to use stall/ignore tactics ...but I'll keep my fingers crossed.
