5 of our soldiers died yesterday, and no pictures allowed. But the MSM could show a closeup of a 2 year old boy dug out of a US bombed building alive, but later died.
I blame all of this on Bush. And STILL no end in sight.
Posted by TIKI AL at May 1, 2008 01:00 AMThe Iraqi Army accomplished what the British couldn't in their Basra victory. Today commerce goes on with the criminal militias influence. Weddings, funerals, daily life with music all around. Soon they will have their own Air Force and be able to call in their own air support. Iraqi Army and police units have been carrying the load with US forces in support more and more. Commercial air service has returned to Iraq. Train service between Baghdad and Basra returned in December. A local wants to build a western style entertainment area just outside the Green Zone in Baghdad.
My question about former President Jimmy Carter's visit to Jordan. He met with King Abdullah(sp), what did the king have to say about Iraq? Carter had to talk about that with him but has said very little. Wonder what the very fair king had to say that Carter wouldn't mention to those back home?
Did anyone see "Boston Legal" on ABC last night? They had a case dealing with Democratic delegates and whether they could vote different than what their district voted. Try to catch it online if you missed it...A Clinton delegate wanted to vote for Obama. What an argument was made...
Posted by peter at May 1, 2008 03:42 AMYou just had to spill the happy party beans with your big mouth, didn't you!
Now every wedding crasher in the world will be headed to Basra.

Why does anyone even bother pursuing world events? We know how it'll all turn out. Another stolen election this year, giving us another republican in the White House; another 100 years in Iraq, Iran, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, did I say Syria? Well, yeah, Syria, Jordan...
Why protest?
They've won,and we're done.

Posted by snark at May 1, 2008 06:15 AMThis gas tax holiday idea--I must say I agree with Obama on this one. It's pointless and ineffective. I'm disappointed in Clinton on this.

The offer still stands to buy you and your family tickets to the Baghdad fun spot of the year. Hey, how about those four mortar rounds that hit the "Green Zone" yesterday? Likely just part of the wacky-fun entertainment for that evening. Fireworks gone awry, maybe. And those 5 dead Americans who bled and screamed for their moms before they died? Disney animatronics!

You seem to place huge political importance on things told you by wealthy actors portraying wealthy lawyers in a substitute reality developed by writers who likely are not too wealthy. Go figure!
Posted by phidipides at May 1, 2008 08:20 AMNo Phidy-cent, I thought it was an interesting debate about Democratic delegates and rules being portrayed by actors who support Democrats. Candice Bergen does support Clinton and Democrats in general.
Try to catch it at ABC.com if you have the time. It's a hoot with the current atmosphere between Obama and Clinton.

Can you say 'political ploy' or 'quick-fix campaign gimmick?' Yeah, I sure need that extra $28.00 this summer. I can add that to the $600 Bush is giving me and buy a new car. (singing, I'm in the Money)
Posted by Judith at May 1, 2008 09:25 AMInstead of using the need to exalt the beloved(TM) Clinton at every turn (an unveiled reference to eri's worthless post above the Open Thread), and the need to get voters covered in Indiana when it comes to ID at the polling place, here is a wonderful post from Brad Blog that can voters in Indiana can use to end some of the confusion.

Don't know what "victory" pants pissing peter is braying about but it is interesting that he is praising a government extremely friendly to Iran.
