You'll be pleased to know that Representative Don Cazayoux, D Louisiana 06..WOOOO HOOOO!!!!, heavily identified with Barack and running against the toxic ads from the R-cons about Obama, won in LA-06's special election. Congratulations to a downticket Dem! The times, they are a changin!
I'm gonna celebrate! Dance with me!

A total crock of shit, Mr. Dox. Another phony Obamabot talking point.
Posted by Johnny at May 4, 2008 09:38 AMA total crock of shit, Mr. Dox.
Rational people tend to think that of Hillary's co-opting of McCain's gas tax plan.
Another phony Obamabot talking point.
Like Obama is good for downticket Dems:
Obama Being Used by GOP Against Down-Ticket Dem
"Obama" Candidate Wins that Louisiana Special Election
Maybe you should ask Representative Bill Foster, D-Il, about his special election results?

They certainly are! How is Bobby Jindal doing?
Posted by Bagley at May 4, 2008 09:51 AMSorry, Johnny. I was being a little rough there. If you want some snappy responses to what I said you can go to any of the publications of the reich wing. You'll see Hillary's campaign thoughts posted there.
How is Bobby Jindal doing?
He's linked with the D.C. Madam also, right? Did he and Vitter do a ménage à trois or something?
Posted by phidipides at May 4, 2008 09:58 AM"He's linked with the D.C. Madam also, right?"
I have no idea.
Posted by Bagley at May 4, 2008 10:00 AMI have no idea.
Then I'm sure you mean those nasty Democratic attack ads that used Jindal's ministers words against him...I mean Jindal's own comments about Catholicism... against him. That is what you mean, right?
Posted by phidipides at May 4, 2008 10:19 AMAt least consider the possibility that Humpty cannot be put back together again.
The task may rather be to construct a new federal state out of the bits and pieces of the old with much more modest material and financial resources, a dollar permanently devalued, very great long-unresolved internal problems to be addressed, with zero international respect and regard to begin with, and with a disintegrating military with a rotten general officer corps itching to reacquire an ample supply of toys, status perks, and relevant combat experience to ensure promotion.
This can all be done given the will and popular political support. I don't see either. Maybe all that's left is predicting which way the blood will spiral on the way down the drain. You are in some deep deep doodoo my friend.
Posted by Anon at May 4, 2008 10:21 AMi feel ya, paradox--hang in there. the party's shaken my own faith in it severely in the past several years (and especially this year, the straw that could break the camel's back)... but your post is stirring, and it reminds me that the dem party is my home and family; i don't want to leave! we really are fighting for the party's very soul.

Posted by headxray at May 4, 2008 04:03 PMWell, imagine my surprise upon reading your cheery post.
I'm not sure why you took the "informed electorate" comment so personally. Can we not agree that our media has conspired to render our electorate as uniformed as humanly possible? It has nothing to do with how hard *you* worked to become and remain informed. Can we not agree that we all, as Americans, are collectively responsible for the state of our corporate media today? We haven't found a way to completely discredit them, and millions upon millions of people still watch. Newspapers and television media alike are owned by mega media conglomerate companies with interests contrary to our own.
This has nothing to do with how many newspapers *you* *personally* read. It isn't always all.about.you.
If I want to read about blind loyalty, party, candidate or otherwise, all I have to do is read at dkos. Here, I usually find great writing from people willing to risk not being considered part of the political "in crowd". Remind me to skip your contributions from here on.
