A Barr/Paul Libertarian ticket could become the GOP's worst nightmare.
Posted by redstater at May 14, 2008 03:49 PMThis should counteract part of McCain's phony "maverick" image by making him tack to the right.
Posted by croatoan at May 14, 2008 03:51 PMYou don't have to live in Arizona to know that McCain sucks. And don't let them tell you "but it's a DRY suck".
Edwards "2nd Americans" in West Virginia sent a clear message that they rejected Obama.
How dare Edwards slap them in the face today with his Obama endorsement and tell them that they are just poor stupid mountain folk and don't know who to vote for.
When Edwards mentioned Hillary's name at the endorsement rally to a chorus of LOUD boos, I'm sure alot of Hillary voters decided to vote for Obama in the fall if he is the nominee. Real class by Obama's peeps.
And what was Edwards bribed with?
Posted by TIKI AL at May 14, 2008 04:25 PMObama supporters always boo when he mentions Hillary. He says he'd like to congratulate her on her win (in PA for example) and they boo. When Hillary talks in her speeches about supporting Obama with everything in her if he's the nominee, no one boos.
I don't understand Edwards' timing. Why not come out before NC. Or since NC was in the bag, why not come out before WVA and try to offset some of the damage? I guess coming out now he's saying that even though Obama has trouble with white working-class voters (and who came up with that term anyway--my husband and I are college-educated and we work. Are we not part of the working class? What class are we exactly??) he supports Obama and they should too. But you're TIKI AL, it can look like a slap in the face to WVirginians. On the Ed Schultz show today, Ed called WVa "stupidville".
Posted by CG at May 14, 2008 05:19 PMMy brother-in-law lives in GA and will vote for Barr, but he always votes libertarian, so it's not taking a vote away from anyone.
Posted by CG at May 14, 2008 05:22 PMAnd even more significant problems exist for "Saint Obama."
"And what was Edwards bribed with?"
Attorney General.
"...Ed Schultz..."
Ed who?
Posted by Bagley at May 14, 2008 05:39 PMPaul will not be able to do anything about McCain's nomination. Anything he does will simply be ignored by the media. As to Barr, I don't see him getting more than 1 percent and have no impact. It will be like Edwards in WV. It won't be a blip on the screen. Hoping that McCain will self destruct is wishful thinking. He'll do fine, and given that the Democratic delegates appear to give the nomination to BO, a candidate I find as unacceptable, many of the HRC supporters will flock to McCain. The old man is lucky.
Posted by Prabhata at May 14, 2008 06:10 PMthe right wing cable tv "experts" are going berserk over the Edwards' endorsement. Wonder why?
Posted by T2 at May 14, 2008 06:11 PMEdwards was "bribed" by Obama's passion, compassion, honesty, and intellect; and perhaps a promise of consideration of the AG portfolio.
BTW Tiki Al, what does it say about Hillary that many of her supporters (?"peeps")on LC and elsewhere would boo loudly at her events should Obama's name be mentioned? {ANSWER: not a thing}.
Hillary mentioned Obama during her victory speech, and I didn't hear 1 boo.
Why endorse now? To take Hillary off the news today at the moment Edwards announced live, and to put a damper on Hillary's fundraising. Nice dagger in the back by Edwards.
I have no problem with the people of West Virginia. They showed great intelligence by their vote. Others are dismissive of them, not me.
"my husband and I are college-educated and we work." ...I merely graduated from high school and am retired. I feel honored that you even responded to my inferior low class ass.
Posted by TIKI AL at May 14, 2008 08:09 PMTaegan Goddard's completely loopy. Sen. Obama won't win a single state in the Deep South. He'll be lucky to finish within single digits in Georgia.
Posted by Donald from Hawaii at May 15, 2008 02:21 AMMcCain would be Bush's third term. If any HRC supporters flock to McCain then fuck them for being traitors to the Republic.
