You gets what you pay for. Early in the Bush Admin all that politicking and maneuvering over funding has paid off. It's like the programming is now springing forth out of John McLaughlin's womb. If you didn't like this one you must have hated the aircraft carrier series.

Who the fuck do we think we are? Monsters, all of them are monsters.

george bush has more blood on his hands than any single Muslim I've heard about.

Same style, short and stupid.
This is the link to the NPR broadcast
Putting the subject of the debate in the form of a statement ( e.g. "Resolved, that Islam is dominated by radicals") is the tradition of Oxford debating, which this series is attempting to emulate. It would be okay to frame it that way if it is understood by the audience that the presenting organization (NPR) is not endorsing either side of the argument, but it seems to me that it is not so understood by many listeners. It's interesting that on NPR's website, they title each episode in the form of a question -- in this case "Is Islam dominated by radicals?"
"Methinks onar is bendito.
Same style, short and stupid."

"NPR plays right into the hands of the demagogues when they put on debates framed like this one. But this is what the right always does - they want enemies to define themselves. Otherwise they would also have to look at themselves and their own actions to see how they measure up to the best of humanity (ie: Jesus)." Mary
Seems your own front pagers(Paradox) play right into some people's hands. Shirin here seems to feel this is racist. Sure sounds like it to me too. Now NPR isn't on my play list...I don't knowingly support it. Some people do like what they do...seem to feel it's basically fair. To me their a little liberal. Now it seems to you they're too conservative...wow.
These people do want peace. And they are learning the power of voting...The responsibility of voting.
Posted by peter at May 18, 2008 07:46 PMJudithOne, you've probably clarified this in prior posts which I have missed, but just to confirm: are you the "judith" that has been posting on this site for several years? Just wanting to be sure. Thanks.

Posted by redstater at May 18, 2008 09:17 PMOoops. Sorry for the duplication.
Posted by redstater at May 18, 2008 09:19 PMMary thank you for this post as a former muslim, who is now an atheist you brought up many good, true, and excellent points.

Thank you, Mary! In the mean time, the U.S. is hiring anthropologists to study Iraqis so they can explain to the military why being bombed, seeing their children blown up, having their lives completely destroyed, and generally being treated like shit by heavily armed foreign intruders pisses them off.
And thanks for an overall great posting too.
Posted by Shirin at May 19, 2008 12:57 AMRedstater, yes. Another Judith started posting here about a month ago, and it was causing confusion. So I took the name JudithOne.
