Comments: Environment vs Business

Its a shame you can't seem to get more commenter's on these threads Mary.

I appreciate your efforts, but I think a lot of the critical thinkers have left for other pastures.

I for one appreciate your efforts to try an stimulate some intelligent discourse, and consider you to be one of the few treasures left at this site.

I for one think we have passed the point of no return, and this planet will make adjustments just like our body does when infected with a virus.

It sucks thinking that we are acting pretty much like a virus that is a threat to the host, but there it is. Maybe one day we will learn to have a more symbiotic relationship with the only world we know of capable of sustaining life.

The selfish human is too venal and stupid to care that he is irreversibly shitting the nest for his own children, let alone the rest of the species on earth. In the end, the rat, the cockroach and the disgusting human (bosom buddies all) will be the last things alive on the stinking global heat-ball humans will have shat out.

America used to be concerned about the environment, but the vile conservative "movement" (financed by corporate wealth and Big Capital) poisoned the brains of a huge number of those genetically predisposed to short-sighted thinking and cretinism (the usual brain type of those drawn to "conservatism") and thus concern for the environment was intentionally destroyed by the conservative movement---and of course every elected Repub is simply in the back pocket of corporate polluters.

As for most of the rest of the world, they never had environmental movements and are generally worse than the hopeless Americans. But the alarm has been raised, and we'll tell the various scums what's going to happen, but it'll be a miracle if the earth's environment can still be saved. Immediate action is required, after 8 years of Do Nothing Bushism, which enabled even more pollution.

In the end, all one can hope is that the various turds who are openly hostile to the planet (like every person who voted for Bush) make their views known to their children and grandchildren and that someday, as everything turns to shit forever for posterity, those kids spit in their Conservative Grandpa's face, and kick him in the balls for steel-toed boots for good measure.

Don't assume lack of comments on this blog equates to lack of concern. I think you'll find that when a thread is this empty it's because those who would comment have read it and agree. You want to see some real activity? Have a troll come by and say something stupid.

As for me, I think people are pretty special.

Is business more important than the environment? Ask the cheney/bush regime. They may say that the environment is important, but their actions say differently.

Well, there's no doubt you are "special", onar....

I take it then that you prefer starvation. You are aware that even Al Gore is seeing his scam fall apart. More CO2 means crops grow better. I presume that you discount the importance of feeding China and India...2 BILLION people.

Where do you think China will turn if they cannot feed their citizens? Hint...The Communist Red Chinese control both ends of the Panama Canal and the Long Beach California Sea Port. They have also doubled the defense spending and are turning out submarines at an alarming rate.

Why do you suppose that is?

the stoopid, IT BURNS

Hey Gay Vet,

Please explain how CO2 burns.

Also, what percentage of the atmosphere does CO2 make up? Of that, what percentage do humans influence?

This is an excerpt from an article.
Effects of Carbon Dioxide for Plant Growth
by: Simon Fowler

Indeed, tests have shown that increasing the level of carbon dioxide in a greenhouse to 550 ppm will accelerate plant growth by 30 - 40 %. The natural level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is around 450 ppm, having increased from about 250 ppm in the last ice-age, so this slight increase may not appear significant at first sight. The point of the matter is that the level of carbon dioxide in the average greenhouse with the ventilation system closed will drop sharply due to uptake by the plants and will lie around 150 - 200 ppm if nothing is done about it. In summer the ventilation system will be open and the fresh air circulation will augment the level to a useful degree.
