Comments: Support the Strange Bedfellows Alliance to Stop FISA Telecom Immunity

Paradox, Democrats don't lead, they follow. Your problem is you can't see that.

Let's elect more of these kind of Democrats. Blue dogs just added another in Mississippi, many here took that for joy...happy now?

Since I am in Georgia, I have been promoting my friends in Athens to get the ball rolling writing Barrow and will be contributing to Regina Thomas who is a really good candidate.

On a broader basis, my question is whether Obama is a closted authoritarian. Does he believe that the government should be able to keep its fingers on the most private thoughts of its citizens by monitoring their phones, emails, and faxes?

My initial answer to this question seems to be in the affirmative.

Everyone should write Obama and demand that he be a leader and ask all Democrats, both in the House and the Senate to take a stand against the Spying bill. The bill should never even be brought to the floor and Obama should get the credit for killing it.

Unfortunately, it really seems the republic ended in January, 2001 when Bush and his buddies took office. The sad thing is that now we see the tragedy unfolding.

The sad truth seems to be that whether those in power be Democrat or Republican, almost all seem to be members of the Authoritarian Party, the real party in power.

I've emailed and called my senator many times about this but she insists on voting for amnesty. I love how amnesty is a dirty work when we're talking about immigration (even though the idea is to make people PAY for their crime through fines and other things) but when it comes to the telecoms breaking the law, amnesty is all good. My senator responded that the telecoms were assured the request from the gov't was legal, so they should be able to trust that. I say, the telecoms know the FISA law and should know bullshit when they see it and at the very least should check with their own lawyers before complying. AND if they didn't do anything wrong and if they should have been able to trust the gov'ts assurances, well, then let a jury decide that.

Oh, for the good old days when we just thought the Dems were spineless and weak as they "rolled over and died." Now we know that contrary to what they tell us, they are active participants in the continued betrayal of the citizenry. Is it any wonder people don't get off their couches to vote?

Hold my nose and vote? How about hold my gas money and stay home.

"My senator responded that the telecoms were assured the request from the gov't was legal, so they should be able to trust that."

Doesn't he know that the government nearly always lies. Sure he does!

Why should anyone believe a single thing the government says other than the weather reports?

Your Senator is just another Government liar.
