Another 'thank you for putting us in the Senate' from the Democrats. The House overwhelmingly passed H.R. 6331, and the Senate failed to pass the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008. Well, Bush won't have to veto it now. I hope the 30 pieces of silver was worth it.

Posted by Judith at July 10, 2008 03:59 AM

By-the-way, the House passed it with 355 Ayes, 59 Nays, 20 Present/Not Voting, but the Senate didn't pass the bill.

Well, scratch the above. Just shows how misinformation gets on the Internet.

UPDATE: The bill did passed the Senate.

So Jesse Jackson want "to cut his (Obama) nuts off." Wow, simply wow.

I always knew Jackson was a Klan member.

Buschco will veto it because it takes money away from corporations. You can't provide any healthcare in this country unless a private business entity skims 30% off the top. Ain't capitalism grand, or what?

Sure you can. It's called Medifraud, and it costs far more per patient than any private insurance.

Phidipides, don't ya just love the misinformation of some people. Yes, it passed, Bush will veto, but there may be enough votes to override the veto. I certainly hope so, as it will affect myself and my Mother, as well as other family members. The Advantage programs are wonderful and are the best bet for millions of seniors and veterans.

I just heard that Rove will testify before Congress today on the Justice Department shenanigans by the Bush Administration. Has anyone else heard this? Last thing I heard this morning was he was using 'Executive Privilage.'

Posted by Judith at July 10, 2008 08:19 AM

Medicaids' cost is 26% less than under private insurance. In the area of co-pays and other out-of-pocket expenses, Medicaid is 600% less than private insurance. Why? You're getting fucked by private insurance. Something tells me you kinda like it that way...

Probably, but both House and Senate passed by veto proof margins. We'll see if that holds.

It's called Medifraud, and it costs far more per patient than any private insurance.

Only because the Republicants crippled the program. The same way they insisted on paying list price for all medicines that the gov't buys. Hell, they even held a filibuster to preserve that grand principle.

Why this isn't a campaign issue is beyond me.

Last thing I heard this morning was he was using 'Executive Privilage.'

Talkingpointsmemo.com always has the latest on stuff like that. Yes he failed to show. I'm sure the Scaredycats -- I mean Democrats -- will issue another STERNED WORDED LETTER in response.

Y'know, that may be the most disappointing thing of all about Obama's caving on FISA. I wasn't under the delusion that he was a great progressive or anything, but he had a track record -- albeit a short one -- of standing up to the right wing. Unlike any other Democrats in the Senate except Feingold and perhaps Byrd. And then this.

Really? I pay $100 a month for private insurance for myself, and I pay even more in Medifraud taxes that doesn't do a damn thing for me.

Posted by m12 at July 10, 2008 10:46 AM

You'd be lucky to get a major medical insurance plan for $100 a month, and it would have an enormous deductible at that premium. So that's no comparison with Medicare/Medicaid.

You're either a fool or a liar---which is it?

Another brain-dead Conservative White Male, the filthy Cockroach of the Country.

The deductible is $5k. That's plenty fine; the purpose of insurance was never to cover predictable small expenditures anyway.

You're right, there's no comparison with Medifraud. You know why? Because I pour money into Medifraud and get nothing.

Posted by m12 at July 10, 2008 12:24 PM

ROFLMAO!! You've got non-insurance. Wait till you have to use it. One of the 400,000 insurance employees who specialize in denying claims will have a treat for you. Then you'll be dumped like a corpse in Queens.

If you have to have such a high deductible it means you don't make enough to pay for anything better, or your employer isn't able to offer anything better.

...and I pay even more in Medifraud taxes that doesn't do a damn thing for me.

It forces you to have something you don't have now, a conscience. You'll also have health insurance when you're old and broken, or just broken.

What's going to happen is you won't go to the doctor when you should because you have shit for health insurance. Maybe it'll be cancer, maybe a massive stroke. You'll lose your job, you'll lose your health insurance. Medifraud will be there for you then and you'll thank God it's there. I've known many fucknut conservative asswipes like you to become unwilling converts to the beauty of the program.

And that is why you pay for it, dimwit. It's insurance. If you never need it you're lucky beyond your limited dreams. You pay for your car insurance, and I bet your State mandates that you buy it. If you never need it you're damn lucky. There is no difference.

Great, lets compare cheap insurance sold on the free market to expensive insurance mandated and taxed by the government!

I pay for my car insurance, idiot. Not yours, and not your grandma's.

What's going to happen is you won't go to the doctor when you should because you have shit for health insurance.

No, im not a stupid liberal.

Kind of laughable when all the libs can offer are hypothetical crystal ball doom and gloom theories, and Bush has offered me tangible HSAs....

Posted by m12 at July 10, 2008 03:04 PM

I pay for my car insurance, idiot. Not yours, and not your grandma's.

In fact, if we have the same auto insurance, you support mine and I support yours. It's pooled risk, assclown, not a car payment. That is the nature of insurance, pooled risk.

What you pay to Medicare is for insurance. If everything fucks-up in your life you'll have it. If you never need your car insurance you wasted money...but you still must have that insurance. It's mandated by the laws of your state. How did you like your home insurance going up after Katrina? Pooled risk.

When you're disabled or old and your shit-ball HDHP insurance leaves you with nothing we'll all be be there to help. You know, like the roads you drive on...or the public schools you went to...

You're just another "self-made" goof ball. Made on the back of social programs we all supported. And HSA/HDHPs are ducky. Just don't ever need it once the HSA is gone. And when you're pissing or coughing-up blood please go to a doctor. If you get a lump on your testicles (or in your breast) don't assume it will go away. Get to a doctor. I know the out-of-pockets are stupid with your HDHP plan...but just go. It may keep you alive long enough to move onto one of the Federal plans when your insurer dumps you.

BTW: How did you get one of the highest deductibles allowed by law and still have a fairly large premium? Got screwed, huh.

Yeah, except I have a choice of several insurers and can shop around for the best deal.

You libs don't like competition much with your confiscatory monopoly. Obviously it's a ripoff, or you wouldn't need to make it mandatory.

Posted by m12 at July 10, 2008 05:18 PM

You've got that with Medicare Advantage. Hugely more expensive than regular old Medicare. Somethings government does much better and efficiently than corporations.

Obviously it's a ripoff, or you wouldn't need to make it mandatory.

Your car insurance is mandatory. That was legislated in your state no differently than Medifaud.

Hey, how's about that $1.2 trillion in corporate welfare. Does that piss you off?
