Just for Albert Gore...
Accurate prediction of future behavior of a system is mandatory to prove scientific theories, it is an core element of the scientific method. Nothing moves from ‘theory’ to ‘fact’ without showing the theory works under all conditions. And when the IPCC came out, after 10 years of flat Global temperatures, and changed their prediction to foresee a decade of Global Cooling they basically admitted their original theory was wrong and they tried to ‘fix’ it on an unsuspecting public, naive of the riggers of the scientific method. Before we spend Trillions of Dollars and negatively disrupt the lives of just about every human being on the planet, we deserve to know our actions are based on solid evidence. And most scientists agree.
This week a body representing 50,000 physicists has publicly declared the science of Global Warming open for debate and unsettled.
"The American Physical Society, an organization representing nearly 50,000 physicists, has reversed its stance on climate change and is now proclaiming that many of its members disbelieve in human-induced global warming. The APS is also sponsoring public debate on the validity of global warming science. The leadership of the society had previously called the evidence for global warming “incontrovertible.”
In a posting to the APS forum, editor Jeffrey Marque explains,”There is a considerable presence within the scientific community of people who do not agree with the IPCC conclusion that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are very probably likely to be primarily responsible for global warming that has occurred since the Industrial Revolution.”"
Didn't Al Gore just say we had ten years, a ten year window?
World Has Ten-Year Window To Act on Climate, Expert Says
September 14, 2006 12:00 AM
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A leading U.S. climate researcher said Wednesday the world has a 10-year window of opportunity to take decisive action on global warming and avert a weather catastrophe.
...
This was from NASA scientist James Hansen about two years ago! Does Albert Gore know more than Hansen with his new 10 year window? Then there was this from 1989...
GREENHOUSE WARMING NATIONS MAY VANISH, U.N. SAYS
Source: From Herald Wire Services Southern Cross Astronomical Society
A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000. Coastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus of "eco-refugees," threatening political chaos, said Noel Brown, director of the New York office of the United Nations U.N. Environment Program, or UNEP. He said governments have a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the [problem].

Another ten year window! Wow, those windows keep popping up...and nothing happens, Year 2000 came and went...where's the beef?
A few years ago the price tag was set at 9 trillion. Just this week it came down to only 5 trillion. Wow, just waiting a few years saved us 4 trillion dollars! Maybe we ought to wait a few more for a more affordable solution to come around.
Posted by peter at July 19, 2008 04:40 PMWITH ALL THE TALK FROM PELOSI ET AL. THIS WEEK, IT'S WORTH REMEMBERING JAY LENO ON ANWR DRILLING: "Leno’s punchline: Democrats say drilling in ANWR wouldn’t produce any oil for 10 years — the same point they’ve been making for more than 10 years now. President Bill Clinton vetoed legislation in 1995 that would have opened ANWR to oil exploration." It would be nice to have some extra oil coming on line about now.
Posted by peter at July 19, 2008 04:52 PMI agree with his goal of getting off of fossil fuels in 10 years. But his way of doing that (windmills and solar panels) won't even come close.
Posted by Muck at July 19, 2008 05:10 PMThere has been question as to when the obvious mental stress began with Albert Gore, culminating in what we see today in him.
Apparently the 2000 election has had permanent effects, especially pronounced by the fact that he was unable to carry his home state of Tennessee, which ultimately cost him the election.
This was an absolute betrayal for him, especially when he knows that even Walter Mondale carried his home state of Minnesota, while managing to lose the other 49 in 1984
Now this agenda is also slipping away.
Mr.Soto...so this is what its come to? Only trolls posting on TLC?
Posted by T2 at July 19, 2008 06:31 PMT2 seems you're the first to come by. Not only "trolls", we happened by before any others.
Posted by peter at July 19, 2008 06:37 PMThe American Physical Society
You mean the APS that disavowed the statement by an affiliate and a non-peer reviewed journal that is not associated with APS? You should look up these organizations before you make yourself look so damn stupid.
It would be nice to have some extra oil coming on line about now.
It sure would. So why haven't the oil companys been drilling on their Federal leases? You know, the leases they have but aren't drilling on. The non-drilled oil leases that they won't drill.
But his way of doing that (windmills and solar panels) won't even come close.
You bet. When you ass-clowns came to power in 00' the United States produced 40% of the world's solar cells. Now we make 8%. You fucktards destroy everything you touch, including energy production.
There has been question as to when the obvious mental stress began with Albert Gore...
You've got Ace McCain running on your ticket and you're talking about mental stress? You people are too easy at this point. Maybe you can borrow a tab from Mrs. McVicodin and relax a little. Sorry. You guys like toe-tapping in stalls, TMs to boys, and clandestine blow jobs in motel rooms when the other guy is sleeping. Whatever it takes to relax, I guess. Why are republi-cons so...well, amoral?
Not only "trolls", we happened by before any others.
It was god, T2. He brings us the trolls like he brings us the flowers in Spring. Then they are ours to cutoff at the root or shred with the weedeater.
Posted by phidipides at July 19, 2008 06:56 PMPhidy-cent you made it. Hows Lake Keystone these days?
Posted by peter at July 19, 2008 06:58 PMSo tell me, did anyone ask Pelosi the hard questions, or did everyone kiss Pelosi's rear end?

Hows Lake Keystone these days?
Pretty nice. I prefer Copan on a lark.
Posted by phidipides at July 19, 2008 07:09 PMi used to like pelosi and voted for her when i lived in SF and was glad to see her elected Speaker, but i can't stomach this now that she didn't impeach either of the two of them or both.
i read that she was rather uncomfortable with the tone of many questions asked especially about the open ended funding of the war and the FISA fiasco.
Posted by michael72 at July 19, 2008 07:47 PMI guess the backstabbing gutless coward doesn't have better things to do than try to create a debate with his pitiful troll friends, even though they aren't interested in debate, just trying to create distraction and confusion. What the braindead troll wants is ill for us, and something to fill the worthless void of his own being for himself.
Let's deny that which is killing, much better to deaf, dumb, and blind, isn't that right trolls?
Go ahead, you worthless git, throw all the lies and false research you want, we know what you are, what all you things are, heartless, mindless, parasites that thrive on human misery. After all, suffering people are worse off than you, right?
Posted by Duckman GR at July 19, 2008 10:52 PMUh oh, Pdip, you fell for the Idle Oil Field Fallacy. LOL.
Anyways, it's just yet another math problem for Al Gore. Wind and solar can (at most) provide 15% of this nation's electricity, when we currently get 70% from fossil fuels. I want to hear what Al has to say about the other 55%.
[sound of crickets]
Posted by Muck at July 20, 2008 12:28 AMSnipers and taunters, nothing more, nothing less.
Posted by Judith at July 20, 2008 02:58 AMSo, how did Pelosi defend herself on FISA, unending support for the occupation, and no impeachment of the worst president ever? I hope she knows we think she is worthless at best, and a traitor at worse.
Posted by Judith at July 20, 2008 03:06 AM"There has been question as to when the obvious mental stress began with Albert Gore, culminating in what we see today in him."
"Obvious mental stress?" Your talking out your ass as usual jj.
wow, the trolls got their talking points early, usually they're busy licking boots
Posted by gay veteran at July 20, 2008 06:13 AMNetroots Nation seemed more like Demroot Nation (or more acutely, a Nation of Sheep or BS Nation).
Netroot Nation appears to have removed any doubt that the progressive netroots are an apologetic, fund-raising appendage of the Democratic Party, rather than an effective independent activist entity. Netrooters are more concerned with falling in line rather than drawing the line with Democrats who betray the our trust and values. What a shame.
Posted by fafnir at July 20, 2008 06:25 AMDoes this mean that the Obama supporters like Markos have now thrown Code Pink under the bus, too?
Gutless wonders, our netroots leaders.
Posted by Mary at July 20, 2008 06:43 AMThere is no form of anti-climate change fecal matter that peetr putz will not happily smear across his face before gorging on. When one hasn't the most remote understanding of the science, and sees everything in the country as a political "game" where one side tries to "win", then one will say and believe literally anything.
And Hansen recently stated that if anything is going to be done to save the planet, it will have to be done by the next president and Congress or the tipping point will pass. We're at the very edge of the precipice, because of the conservative movement and its amoral, unthinking, ignoramus shit-eaters like peeter putz.
According to other bloggers like Booman Tribune, Pelosi was asked hard questions and of course did not (or could not) answer them. Every progressive has to determine for themselves the usefulness of the Dem party at this point. Its leadership is not going to change, that's for sure.
The Repub party leadership extorts and threatens its "moderate" members of Congress to vote with the (majority) conservative memebers on crucial votes or be destroyed. The Dem party in contrast sides with its "moderate" Blue Dog members against the (majority) progressives to enable Bushco and then wonders why enthusiam among the base falls to shit. Gee, I wonder why? Some real rocket science there.........
Posted by euzoius at July 20, 2008 07:25 AMWhy doesn't fatty Al Gore share some of his excess skin with Pelosi's failed Botoxed face?
Both ought to be hung in public with Cheney and his lover, W.

Fact one, year 2000 came and went.
Fact two, Hansen says World Has Ten-Year Window To Act on Climate, September 14, 2006.
Fact three, Albert Gore says just last week, we have a ten year window to fix this.
Three different "10 year windows", those are the facts. Did these people not say them? Each one at a different time from the other. No "science" or "false research" or "lies" mentioned my friends, just differing "10 year windows." I seem to be hearing the phrase "10 year window" or "ten years" a lot. Back in 1995 President Clinton said it would take ten years to see results from ANWR. Senator Obama seems to be saying the very same thing about off shore drilling lately. Pardon me, now he says seven, things changed in the last three weeks!
Seems as though their appearance didn't go over too well and Obama took the easy way out and left the country to avoid facing these people.
Posted by peter at July 20, 2008 09:19 PMI vote we put pants pissing peter on an iceberg. After all there's no global warming.
the stoopid, IT BURNS
Posted by Gay Veteran at July 21, 2008 10:23 AMFrom the comments: "Netroots Nation seemed more like Demroot Nation."
I talked with one of the coffee sales people - she said she served at the DNC once - and that "Y'all are much nicer than them. They were all full of themselves. Too many egos.
