Lets see, y'all feared this from President Bush..."the objective of this trip was to have substantive discussions with people like President Karzai or Prime Minister Maliki or President Sarkozy or others who I expect to be dealing with over the next eight to 10 years."B.Obama
"eight to 10 years"??? He does walk on water!
As Peter sinks below the surface!
Posted by tommy at July 21, 2008 06:19 AMJudith, from another thread, try googling "Cleland, Obama, Atlanta visit" and you'll find multiple sources about former Senator Cleland's mistreatment by Barry Obama and his staff.
“Cleland is registered to lobby for a company whose products are aimed at helping soldiers recover more quickly from battlefield industries injuries, Tissue Regeneration Technologies,” reported Ben Smith at Politico.
Surely Cleland's working for our soldiers best interest here. Being a lobbyist in this field shouldn't garner this type of treatment.

You might want to read (or maybe not) Krauthammer. It is devastating and so true.
By convention time you folks are really going to question what you have done
It is happening now.
Is the bar scene from Star Wars that occurred in Austin now over?
Posted by jj at July 21, 2008 07:11 AManyone who reads Krauthammer is an idiot.
Posted by T2 at July 21, 2008 08:21 AM
Nice try, but you know better than.
...but you read it didn't you?
Krauthammer - isn't that the dude that's uglier than Geddy Lee? He's still around? Try Sadly No, troll-boy, they like to laugh at obscure wingnuts; maybe they've heard of the guy.
Posted by iamcoyote at July 21, 2008 09:21 AMYou are so easy...you become what you despise.
Game over
Plwaae try again

not true! shit floats
jarjar jj: Krauthammer?
just another neo-con psychopath
Posted by Gay Veteran at July 21, 2008 10:06 AMso it's now clear, beyond spin, that the Iraq government, elected reps of the people (so we are told by George Bush) have set a deadline for the US Troops to leave. Watching the GOPers and MC71 goofballs try to twist this is funny. You gotta love their angle: "the surge worked so we should stay forever, or Iran will invade Iraq". I'm sorry, but I don't remember invading Iraq was to protect Saddam from being invaded by Iran. I thought it was to protect the USA from being invaded by Saddam.
Posted by T2 at July 21, 2008 11:44 AMYou haven't heard that spin from me, T2. I'm all for it, it means success. The faster we leave the place peacefully, the greater the legacy for our president. Whether it's McOld or Obama aiding this...well I'd prefer McOld, but either will do the very same job at this point.
Posted by peter at July 21, 2008 12:17 PMThe faster we leave the place peacefully, the greater the legacy for our president.
You feeble fucker!
Over 1 million dead Iraqi's, 4 million refugees, an illegal invasion... some fucking legacy!!
bu$h cowering in fear, awaiting war crimes is his legacy!
Posted by Seven of Six at July 21, 2008 12:37 PM"...the Iraq government, elected reps of the people (so we are told by George Bush) have set a deadline for the US Troops to leave."
Nope, it's even more ironic than that. Maliki and his make-believe government were NOT elected by the people at all, and they sure as hell do not represent the Iraqi people.
For those who have forgotten, or never noticed, the Iraqi Parliament - the only body that WAS in any way or to any degree elected - chose Ja`fari as prime minister, and their choice was immediately and roundly rejected as unacceptable by those who had so thoughtfully bombed Iraq into "democracy". Having found the Iraqi-chosen leader unacceptable, Emperor George immediately dispatched Condi Rice and Jack Straw to Baghdad to "help" the Iraqis find a more "appropriate" prime minister. And after that, they "helped" their choice, Maliki, to select "appropriate" people for his government.
So, you see, it is not the elected reps of the people who are talking about timelines for the empire's withdrawal, it is in fact, the selected reps of the empire. See the irony now?
PS They haven't set a deadline for the troops to leave. In fact, they haven't set anything at all. The agreement between Maliki and Bush is to sometime in the future talk about a "general time horizon to express Iraqi aspirations", or some similar meaningless grouping of words to that effect. As for anything with any actual meaning (sort of), Maliki has merely suggested that 2010 seems "about right" for the removal of "all combat troops" (except, of course, for Commander in Chief Obama's few tens of thousands of cooks and mechanics who will continue to carry out combat missions in Iraq for the foreseeable future AFTER "all combat troops" have been withdrawn).
Posted by Shirin at July 21, 2008 01:43 PMOh Seven, you jest. Nobody, but nobody is cowering in fear. There will not be any trials, there will be very few, if any, hearings. Nothings going to happen, period. Your numbers are all wrong, be that as it may. Doesn't really matter, they're high enough in any reference. You guy and this Democratic leadersheep will not do anything.
Posted by peter at July 21, 2008 02:05 PMpants pissing peter, "the legacy for our president" is that of a war criminal, and serial felon who illegally wiretapped Americans
"cowering in fear"? that was Bush on 9/11, along with the rest of you pants pissing right-wing cowards. Now go lick your master's boot like a good little slave.
"There will not be any trials" our Crawford Caligua had better stay in Crawford or he might suffer a fate worse than Pinochet's
GV, didn't Pinochet die in his bed of old age?
PS Bush crimes have been greater than Pinochet's were both in number and magnitude.
Posted by Shirin at July 21, 2008 02:33 PMYour numbers are all wrong, be that as it may.
Still doesn't account for more Iraqi's dying under 5 1/2 years of bu$h than the 30 years under Saddam. Not to mention the infrastructure still in shambles.
Posted by Seven of Six at July 21, 2008 02:45 PMYes, Peter, Seven's numbers are all wrong. The real numbers are much higher. In fact, the number of internally and externally displaced Iraqis is by now between 4.5-5 million - close to 20% of the total population at the time of the invasion. The latest survey put the number of "excess deaths" at around 1.3 million, but that was in January, so the number is considerably higher now.
But it is very difficult to discuss these matters with someone who has no education and no understanding of the concepts and methodologies, not to mention someone who is absolutely determined to deny the reality on the ground.
Posted by Shirin at July 21, 2008 02:56 PM"Your numbers are all wrong, be that as it may. Doesn't really matter, they're high enough in any reference." Shirin and Seven, there's no accounting for anything. No statistics, nor anyway of getting at them. I say they're lower, Seven says they're high, Shirin says they're even higher. There's no proof far any of us to be right. Lets just say they're more than anybody wanted and leave it at that. Whether the number is 4000 or 58,000 or 546,000 each number is high. Inflate it all you want, it will only feed your ego or boast.
Posted by peter at July 21, 2008 07:40 PMPeter, you are 100% wrong. There very reliable statistics generated by scientific studies conducted using the most universally accepted methodologies and analysis.
The fact that you are willfully blind to reality does not mean it does not exist.
Posted by Shirin at July 21, 2008 07:52 PMShirin, How many of our guys have been killed in Iraq since June 26th?
..............5!
And why was Obama going around Iraq without any type of vest on...just a rolled up white long sleeved shirt. Thing are safer there...so much so that our messiah, Barry Obama was running around without any protection.
Posted by peter at July 21, 2008 08:54 PM"Shirin, How many of our guys have been killed in Iraq since June 26th?
..............5!"
pants pissing peter, crowing about how ONLY five Americans died. YOU WORTHLESS PIECE OF SHIT, go back to licking your master's boot
Posted by Gay Veteran at July 22, 2008 12:40 PMGV, I was trying to ignore Peter, who thinks that "only" five Americans dead is a wonderful thing, and does not even think of mentioning the thousands of Iraqis who have died in that time period, many if not most of them at the hands of American troops and their Iraqi proxies.
As for Obama "running around without any protection", yeah, isn't it impressive that he has been able to go into that fancy-ass gym they built in the Green Zone and play basketball with "the troops" without a flak jacket! Makes Iraq look like Shangri-la, doesn't it?
