Good morning, Mary. Thanks for the laugh. I love the story of the people "trapped" on the escalator.

Posted by vicki at July 29, 2008 04:34 AMMary, LOL. Now, I wonder how many people would think this is legitimate. Hard to tell anymore with real news being less important than Britney's latest night out drunk.

I know this will come as a shock, but there really isn't anything to see here. Note Gonzales having nothing to do with it. Don't worry, Michael B. Mukasey will see that it never happens again.

Posted by Judith at July 29, 2008 06:33 AMnews outlets are reporting this morning that the Media's Kid Glove treatment of Barack Obama may be coming to an end. That's a relief.
Posted by T2 at July 29, 2008 06:45 AMWho was it that published an analysis that found Obama had been negatively portrayed by the media 3-to-1, while Johnny Dubya Mac got a positive coverage 55% of the time?
Posted by idiosynchronic at July 29, 2008 07:09 AMidio, I saw that at Atrios' place.
Posted by iamcoyote at July 29, 2008 07:19 AMThe Center for Media and Public Affairs at George Mason U has a recent study of the first 6 weeks of the general election showing that MSM (greater) coverage on Obama was 72% negative, while coverage on McRube was only 56% negative.
Posted by euzoius at July 29, 2008 07:25 AMThe mole that was removed from our beloved Senator McCain's temple received very positive coverage yesterday.
"The doctors didn't think it looked cancerous."
I'm no Dr. Kildair, but don't they have to send it to a lab to determine that?
Would they tell us if it was cancer, and would that have an effect on the race?
Posted by TIKI AL at July 29, 2008 08:18 AMTIKI, maybe the doctors removed the non-cancerous part, and left only the cancerous host?
Posted by iamcoyote at July 29, 2008 09:12 AMAbout this story it is helpful to read this one, part of our history:

Your future vice presidential nominee...
"...a long series of profound disagreements we’ve had with Gov. Kaine over issues ranging from repeal of the estate tax (cost to state: $140 million per year), offshore drilling, the Wise County coal-fired power plant, Dominion Power reregulation, the no-bid/”aerial option” Metro to Dulles project, the transportation monstrosity (with abuser fees and balkanized regional authorities, now declared unconstitutional), his opposition to embryonic stem cell research, etc. etc.
RK posted an essay Friday entitled: “We Won’t Get ’Kained’ Again”:
Three years into the Kaine Administration, Virginia Progressives stand aghast at what it has become. From his repeal of the estate tax to his abandoned plan for universal Pre-K, to his opposition to embryonic stem cells, from his failed transportation plans to cozy relationship to Dominion Power and his reprehensible support of the Wise Coal Plant, the Kaine administration has fulfilled our every early fear and never failed to disappoint progressive Virginia." from RaisingKaine.com
Another winner to go with Veneman, at least this guy's a Democrat. And a guy y'all crowed loudly for winning. He's very thankful for your vote and your money.
Hey petey, blow any goats today? I've read you do it quite often!
Posted by iamcoyote at July 29, 2008 02:30 PMDoes petr McGoat really think he can manipulate a single Dem voter with his hamhanded daily shit?
Posted by euzoius at July 29, 2008 02:44 PMYou know, euzoius, I really think he does! It's kinda funny watching him glom onto a newcomer, trying to pretend he's a trusted source. That's why people need to be reminded of his goat blowing abilities each and every time he posts. Gotta be wary in this world these days. No goat is safe!
As an aside, I wonder if he's available for yard work...
Posted by iamcoyote at July 29, 2008 02:53 PMLast night we watched "Right At Your Door" on DVD.
It's about downtown LA getting hit by numerous virus bombs which start huge fires spewing toxic ash. People seal up their homes and wait for help to come.
Scary what the officials can do with a snap judgement, a red tag, and a big tent to turn your house into a roach motel.
The earthquake today was minimal compared to this movie. Don't rent it peter, you will have pee pee nightmares for years.
Posted by TIKI AL at July 29, 2008 04:07 PMFigures, the great Phil Spector came out and endorsed Obama from the courtroom of his murder trial. Yeah, he felt he needed to do his part for Obama...he's hoping for a pardon I bet ya...
Got his "Barack Obama Rocks" pin on. He joins Dale Lee Bishop with his endorsement from the death table.
Posted by peter at July 29, 2008 04:34 PMin addition to his stated hatred of gays and liberals, he targeted a church "after expressing beliefs to neighbors in the past that he had an abiding anger against Christianity, an anger that appears rooted in his childhood." It was later confirmed that Adkisson did have issues with religion dating back to his childhood, and that the specific church he targeted was one that was once attended by his ex-wife.
Another went off on a rant in another direction, hissing, "So if he had targeted a mosque, that would be OK because it wasn't a church, I presume. You know, them 'sand people' and all that..."
