Of course Bush will pardon him and every other felon. I never doubted that. That's an executive privilage that needs to be buried once and for all.
Posted by Judith at July 31, 2008 04:42 AMChina is a human civil rights violator and the Olympic committee should not condone this censorship let alone support censorship. Personally, I think the Olympics should not have been held in China.
The International Olympic Committee officials admit Internet censorship and that they cut a deal to let China block sensitive websites, despite promises of unrestricted access.
China had committed to providing media with the same freedom to report on the Games as they enjoyed at previous Olympics, but journalists this week complained of finding access to sites deemed sensitive to its communist leadership blocked.
Attempts at the main press center to access the website of Amnesty International, which released a report on Monday slamming China for failing to honor its Olympic human rights pledges, continued to prove fruitless by mid-week.

Little contest this morning.
Who said it?

Which isn't really hard, is it, Judith? That's why they keep pushing the 40 year old flight suit pic.
Posted by iamcoyote at July 31, 2008 05:37 AMLittle contest this morning.
Who said it?
BONUS; Who, besides a putz such as jj, cares?
Posted by snark at July 31, 2008 05:50 AMWho cares? a conservative estimate would be...millions.
It's piling up...advice....never, ever, let this guy out without a prepared script.
Funny as hell though..
Pump up those tires and get a tune-up.
Posted by jj at July 31, 2008 06:07 AMif Bush intends to pardon every GOP crook convicted during his presidency, he'd better start soon (after his August vacation), it's a long list.
Posted by T2 at July 31, 2008 06:15 AMWho, besides a putz such as jj, cares?
Who? Cares about what?
Posted by iamcoyote at July 31, 2008 07:01 AMso McCain thinks Britney Spears is a big deal? Johnny Flyboy, she is in rehab. Her career is yesterday's news. Poor GOPers always look so, well, stupid, when they enter into mainstream culture.
Posted by T2 at July 31, 2008 07:28 AMIt's piling up...advice....never, ever, let this guy out without a prepared script.
What guy?
Posted by snark at July 31, 2008 07:41 AMWhat guy?
Must be talking about McCain. Apparently, he only sticks to teleprompters and cue cards, since he can't speak extemporaneously on any subject but pudding.
Posted by iamcoyote at July 31, 2008 08:20 AMIamcoyote, McCain has a hard time with "pudding." He thought it was the endearing term he calls Mrs. McCain.
Posted by Judith at July 31, 2008 09:02 AMNever let Obama out without a prompter. He can't speak without one.
Posted by peter at July 31, 2008 10:07 AM
What did he say that's so bad?
Posted by snark at July 31, 2008 10:23 AMPlease make sure an watch the video...it's painful.
Posted by peter at July 31, 2008 10:37 AMBwahahahaha! Powerline?? Those dolts? Might as well use National Enquirer as a source. Oh wait, goatfucker does!
Posted by iamcoyote at July 31, 2008 10:42 AMSo Powerline deduced that the proper inflation of automobile tires on a national level could conservatively account for the saving of 90,000,000 barrels of oil annually and they find that to be a concept worthy of ridicule.
A perfect example of the stupidity that typifies the modern conservative movement.
Thanks peter.
Posted by snark at July 31, 2008 10:50 AMOh, and someone should tell the brainiacs at Powerline that one does not "drill" for oil shale. It's mined. So that 1 trillion barrels of oil that they used to pump up their critique of Obama's "drilling" comment is typical conservative asshattery.
Posted by snark at July 31, 2008 10:57 AMI keep telling ya, snark, but you had to ask. That smarmy little fuck will punk you every time. He never brings a valid "argument" to the table, ever. Why do you think he never links to sources for his assertions? He gets them from doofs like buttmissile and Malkin.

"Monkey business on the Edwards story?
Thursday, July 31, 2008
As a member in good standing of the mainstream media, I generally tend to be skeptical of those in the blogosphere who accuse us of liberal bias.
But they sure seem to have a point with this John Edwards story.
The Edwards story is all over the internet -- including the liberal-leaning Huffington Post -- and is making headlines in the European papers. But the American maintstream media are ignoring it even though, as stories go, it's one of the best so far this year."

From the MercuryNews...
" Members of the so-called Main Stream Media - yes, including this one - have treated the story of an alleged Edwards affair as if it were just another space alien story out of the National Enquirer. But wait! It is indeed the Enquirer that is out in front on this story, but it appears they have slightly more to go on than a UFO sighting."
Link
And from Raleigh, The News & Observer...
"On Wednesday, however, the former U.S. senator and 2004 vice presidential nominee was eager to duck the press when the questions took a tabloid turn.
About a dozen reporters and photojournalists attended a speech Edwards gave to an AARP Foundation symposium on poverty and aging in Washington. Afterward, he avoided most of the waiting reporters, at least some of whom wanted to question him about recent reports in the National Enquirer that alleged an inappropriate relationship with a former campaign videographer.
...
When approached by a Charlotte Observer reporter, Edwards said, "Can't do it now, I'm sorry" and quickly walked past.
Asked what he was doing at the Beverly Hilton last week, Edwards said "sorry" and got into a waiting car with the other men.

Newark, San Jose, and Raleigh, none of them conservative bastions of news.
Posted by peter at July 31, 2008 11:23 AMSnark, did you watch the video? And this coming from a youngster of 46. He sounded just awful...better keep him on that prompter.
Posted by peter at July 31, 2008 11:26 AMYeah, I'm concerned about Obama's speaking ability after suffering through 8 years of George Bush who makes my 3 year old sound like an accomplished orator.
Again, your comments are a prime example of the affliction that ails the conservative movement peter. I thank you for continually demonstrating it.

Posted by peter at July 31, 2008 02:55 PMSee what you did, snark, now you'll never get the stupid yap dog to stop humping your leg. Unless, of course, a goat walks by.
Posted by iamcoyote at July 31, 2008 03:26 PMAnother fine example of the affliction you share with the likes of Limbaugh peter. Limbaugh dismisses the concept of individual reponsibility regarding doing everyday things to decrease oil usage out right simply because it's a Democrat suggesting it when the actual numbers lead a reasonable person to conclude that the actions are worthwhile if not perhaps as effective as Obama suggested. But the larger point is clear. Your only intent, and that of Limbaugh et al, is to ridicule those you disagree with. Not to find real answers to the problems we all face. That's why you can't appreciate the real import of Obama's mentioning tire inflation. Perhaps we can't replace ALL the oil from drilling via simple practical steps but the numbers indicate that we could replace a significant portion of it. Which would lead a reasonable person to think that perhaps the expense and danger to our environment involved in obtaining this oil is not worth it when such simple steps can offset our need for such a big chunk of it. It's a simple concept really. But it requires a modicum of intelligence to get. Do you get it peter?
Posted by snark at July 31, 2008 07:58 PMAh Snark, personal responsibility, I don't shirk that at all. We've had high fuel economy cars for the commute to work just about my entire adult life. From a Datsun 310 to a B-210, Nissan 200sx to a Honda Prelude, and the Civic I drive today. Tire inflation has always been a concern as well as a good tread design for all weather, good channeling for rain and so forth. You do the best you can with the limited monetary resources we've had. Nobody had to suggest that last purchase of our Civic. I sought that car out...pre-owned. I've averaged between 33 to 41 MPG within the county. Keeping fresh oil and a clean air filter as well as good spark plugs...sure. Again you do the best you can trying to make the car last.
Man the people in his friendly crowd weren't receptive to his message there. They were like what the hell is this guy talking about. He seemed spacious. And to say that all this stuff would offset drilling in those places...no way. ABC's piece came to that conclusion. The gas tax idea wasn't that great of an idea in reality. Somewhere between $30 to $70 in savings over the summer. To lower incomes that's a tank of gas. A little help, to the better off...not much.
The drill here, now, and pay less people have American employment, American resources, setting American prices in mind. All the while R&D is going forth to find alternate methods that lower income groups can actually participate in. All this stuff that's out there is pie in the sky to lower income groups...they're excluded by their income. And making them pay more of their limited income for gas is taxing their ability to overcome the other income challenges out there. Keeping them poor.
Keeping them poor...
Posted by peter at August 1, 2008 02:50 AMSetting American prices?
LOL!
Maybe you could let us know how much developing all our domestic deposits would lower the price of oil peter.
I know. Do you?
Posted by snark at August 1, 2008 04:22 AMI know that if you're selling only to the US market, the world price doesn't matter. Just like the world price doesn't matter in Hugo's country or Saudi Arabia. The world doesn't set the price of apples and oranges unless they're imported.
Talking about personal responsibility, does this apply towards abortion? OK in the case of rape, incest, or the life of the mother; but, otherwise, shouldn't personal responsibility matter?
Posted by peter at August 1, 2008 04:45 AMJust like the world price doesn't matter in Hugo's country or Saudi Arabia.
Are you proposing price controls?!
Good God peter, you sound like a socialist!
Posted by at August 1, 2008 06:06 AMTalking about personal responsibility, does this apply towards abortion? OK in the case of rape, incest, or the life of the mother; but, otherwise, shouldn't personal responsibility matter?
Yes. A woman choosing abortion is taking personal responsibility for her own life. As opposed to the government trying to take responsibility away from her. I'm glad you recognize that it should absolutely be the personal responsibility of the woman to decide whether she wants to give birth to a child or not. Good on you.
Posted by snark at August 1, 2008 06:10 AMnice nuance...(smile), not hardly.
