If you're worried about losing two wars, Petraeus has remedied Iraq and will soon turn his attention towards Afghanistan. So rest your troubled soul about this one. There's even word coming out of the vapors that Zawahiri has been wounded, seemingly hurt a lot. There is a coming offensive being organized by our NATO forces with some help from Pakistan.
I thought it so telling that Jeff Dinelli was fretting about loses in Afghanistan being higher than Iraq. The numbers being 17 verses 8, when last year, July had our loses at 66 in Iraq alone. When was the last time anyone paid attention to a loss in Okinawa or South Korea, Kosovo or Bosnia? Or at any of our other military bases around the world and in the states? There have been loses there, but, you're tunneled into just these two conflicts. In the 90's there were loses too. Made the local news, if they were spectacular in scope, the national news, but nary a peep from anyone. Anywhere from upwards of 650 to 1150 a year during the 90's.
Posted by peter at August 3, 2008 09:44 AMAhhh, peter rationalizes the maladministration of the Mad King, idiot son of George the Lame. These are good wars, dontcha know. The kind of wars for freedom and justice that all real Mercans should get behind. The kind where when Iraq says it's time for you to leave you say "We brought you freedom, just not freedom from us." The kind of wars where Al Quaeda wasn't in Iraq before 2003 but is there now, and there permanently. The kind of wars where the real terrorists are ignored to launch invasions and occupations of others for oil. Good wars, damn good wars. The kind of wars that are an occupation and victory is so nebulous it can never be attained. The kind of wars where you bust the deficit, ruin every last piece of hardware and make it impossible to contain the violence in other areas.
Posted by phidipides at August 3, 2008 10:27 AMDeath March of Bataan....compared to blogging?
You need to do some reading young man... better yet find a survivor and just listen.
Posted by jj at August 3, 2008 11:29 AMWhile I was spraying the ants who blatantly violated the sabbath and launched a full blown assault on the cat's food today, I was thinking how the talking headlice have become nothing more then political Jerry Springers with this 3 days of Paris crap.
The low info voters eat this stuff up. They voted for bush twice and are beyond critical thinking.
"I know there are mornings when vomiting is preferable to being chained to the blog again"
...and I would rather join our cats in a fur-ball puke contest then read Peter's vile propaganda.

Posted by Judith at August 3, 2008 12:36 PMYep, peter's syrupy Pollyanna talk is enough to make a person puke.
Posted by Copeland at August 3, 2008 12:45 PMHey, guys, why torture yourselves? Do what I do and skip over the useless crap from Peter et al. Saves me time, AND keeps my blood pressure down all at the same time.
Posted by Shirin at August 3, 2008 01:41 PMhey, I aint a troll and i kinda gagged at the death march comparison myself. Jeebs, Paradox.
Anywayz, I have heard blogging compared to people who ring dooorbells and run away leaving flaming bags on the stoop.
Present blogger exempted, of course. :-)

I think the Death March analogy describes a lot of activities that become onerous.
