Comments: Another Corporation Issuing Marching Orders

Because Barack Obama burns taxpayers alive and then sells their flesh for human consumption?

Plus, chickens can't vote and Colonel Sanders is dead.

Bud thinks he's really clever, but I'm missing the analogy.

Posted by MaskedVigilante at August 5, 2008 08:32 AM

I certainly wouldn't buy insurance from someone who blatantly supports criminals. I'm grateful that he lets people know he's a right wing dick before they make the mistake of trusting him.

Posted by iamcoyote at August 5, 2008 08:48 AM

republi-con Evangelicals voted for Bush, so sometimes chickens do vote for Colonel Sanders.

Posted by phidipides at August 5, 2008 09:07 AM

I'm grateful that he lets people know he's a right wing dick before they make the mistake of trusting him.

Good point. Wouldn't it be nice if more business people did that? Like if people had signs that read:

"If you're a woman with a pulse, I WILL stare at your breasts."

"I pray for snot on a Petri dish but beat my dog."

"I'm a goatblower."

"If there's grass on the field, PLAY BALL!"

And other such revealing commentary.

We should applaud Bud for at least putting his beliefs out there honestly. And giving the rest of us advanced notice to steer clear.

some info: this agent breaks statefarm's code of conduct. email the ceo and chairman edward b rust. phone number 1-309-766-2311. email home.pa-newsroom.168d00@statefarm.com

This shows that repugs issue and blindly follow orders. In the case of the trolls who visit this blog, I read someplace back during the spring where McLame had issues orders for individuals to invade all blogs. Why can dems be brainwashed or blindly follow orders?

Hey Bud had to write and let you know your sign is much appreciated. You are right on. I am not sure though that the persons who are voting for him can read your sign.

For those of you who are not familar with the thriving metropolis of Mandeville, it is between Biloxi and Baton Rouge, N of New Orleans, and SW of Bush, La.

Way to go, Bud Gregg III! I'll bet YOU have health insurance.
Somehow I missed the chapter on "pissing off potential customers" in Business 101. Bud Gregg I must be so proud!
E Bay is having a sale on knuckle guards, tell your happy posters as it sounds like they could use them too.

Thanks mamameow for the info. State Farm itself will likely care because they have too many customers to lose. In contrast, this area is in suburban New Orleans.
Given the demographics of the area, the agent probabally feels that such a sign will attract business.

This in a society where politicians will run campaign spots and never tell you their party affiliation. Anyone else notice that?

Good for Bud. He has no idea what he has just done to his business. LOL

Posted by Judith at August 5, 2008 11:14 AM

Mandeville: 92% white, less than 5% black. Yes, it speaks volumes, herbal tee.

Posted by TIKI AL at August 5, 2008 11:19 AM

Thanks mamameow.

Mr. Rust:

You may want to talk to your agent about his Republican sign. He has just guaranteed your losing business by such practices. Good to know where he stands.

"Pretty funny"

Some people are too easily amused.

Posted by herbal tee at August 5, 2008 11:49 AM

Dear Mr. Rust,

All of my insurance has been with State Farm for over 40 years. I don't believe an insurance company should be openly telling people who to vote for. It is un-American.

Although I don't think my local Phoenix agent should be punished for the CEOs failure to control his agents, I have switched all of my insurance to American Family and saved 23% on my premium.

Please thank Bud Gregg III for me!

Like a Good Racist...State Farm is there!!

Bud will probably be experiencing Katrina II by now!

Being a customer of State farm, I sent the above picture to my agent and asked her if she can get explanation from State Farm. She told me that State Farm had issued a directive to all agents not to do things like what Bud Gregg has done. She also told me that she has forwarded the picture to the State Farm head hauncho of our area.

I suggest to all who are insured with State Farm to send a protest note to your agent.

I too just sent a note to my agent.

Told him that I have will move a couple of other policies to State Farm.

He said thanks, and by the way, said he is not aware of any company policy. He felt it could be very good for business. I agree. Please get the word out.

Nice try though.

Just getting the old trailer insured for a grand before the Monster Truck season are we jj?

Posted by Goyo at August 5, 2008 03:06 PM

The comment is a sad commentary and a sad knock off of the original:

"George Bush cares for troops like Tyson cares for Chickens"

That one is better for this agent, and I'm glad that I've dropped State Farm.

No, the '63 Stinger and the rental props in KC.

The rest was already with them.

Posted by jj at August 5, 2008 06:15 PM

I heard this on the radio some years ago so googled it, the original was:

"Of course, in the immortal words of the father of former Senator J.C. Watts' (Still the one and only black republican senator in history, who resigned in disgust after being taken as the help at too many GOP events), 'A black person voting for a Republican is like a chicken voting for Col. Sanders.'"

Posted by Sharon at August 5, 2008 07:47 PM

Well...it seems Detroit just pushed in all of their chips for Obama.

And dontcha know that McCain has some pretty big balls (although useless at his age without a truckload of Viagra) to say he would call Congress back...having missed 63% of the votes himself. Damn, John. Obama is correct. You ARE ignorant.

Posted by phidipides at August 5, 2008 08:23 PM

I suppose it told you that J C Watts was a Senator.

That would be a surprise to him.

You need to look that up again Sharon babe.

Posted by jj at August 6, 2008 04:17 AM

JJ,

Perhaps you should take your head out of your monster truck's tailpipe. Watts was a CONGRESSMAN not a senator. It figures Gregg would attract your type of customer - ignorant but proud.

Posted by crowdpleaser at August 6, 2008 06:22 AM

Crowdpleaser

You might want to read up the post a bit to Sharon's post..it then might make sense to you..or maybe not.

If not, ring me up again..I'll 'splain it to you

Posted by jj at August 6, 2008 08:14 AM

and then re-read mine.

Now go step by step..slowly...you'll get it.

Feel silly?

Posted by jj at August 6, 2008 08:17 AM

...who resigned in disgust after being taken as the help at too many GOP events

Cough! Cough, cough!

Watts left because of a massive sex scandal and failure to pay child support to a bunch...and I mean a bunch...of out of wedlock kids.

McCain 08 "republi-cons wanna put it in you (as long as we can tell you who to put yours in) too!"

...and then re-read mine.

Can you guys please stop supporting torture?

Posted by phidipides at August 6, 2008 09:28 AM

jarjar jj, just another goat blower

Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.

Can we say the same about Democrats when times are hard/

Way to go Bud!

Posted by Bart Simpson at August 13, 2008 05:28 PM

Just a note to everyone to let you know State Farm Agent's are self employed, independent contractors and are NOT employees of State Farm. State Farm hates it when agent's do things like this and it certainly isn't good business. They have issued a directive about it, but there's not much else they can do. As long as an agent isn't doing anything illegal, you, the customers, are pretty much the ones who decide which agents stay in business and which do not.

Posted by gjlbee at August 13, 2008 05:43 PM

Time for me to set the record straight. I know more about any of this since I'm the person who first took the photo of Bud's sign and emailed to ONLY 2 people. Wow, talk about how fast things can spread from only 2 seeds.

Bud is my agent, plus a good friend. He told me he might do this but told he had a surprise for me when I'd come to park my car I was selling in front of his office - that's my white 4-Runner for sale in the background. I grabbed my camera and took the pics. His inspiration for the sign was an email I sent him some weeks earlier with the same message - so Bud admits he didn't come up with the slogan.

The sign was meant to be funny - period. True, you can call it a political statement if you wish - Bud said he thought of it more like a "common sense" statement. The sign remained up for a about a week until some kooks made some threats about driving it over - some threats were worse. Bud has two ladies working in office who often are there with Bud out of the office on busienss, so he said he couldn't take the risk to their safety - it just wasn't worth it for what was only supposed to be something that gave people a chuckle.

Now that you know the origins and history, I will now make comments in response to others here and disspell some rumors and incorrect notions - and I'll confirm others:

1) MYTH - State Farm did NOT threaten Bud to take down. When he did receive a call from a State Farm exec on July 3rd, the sign had already come down the prior day. Bud knew what he was probably calling about and before the SF exec could really say anything Bud told him the sign was down - the SF exec said "thank you, Bud" and promptly hung up the phone. The conversation, according to Bud, lasted no more than 30 seconds...FACT.

2) CORRECT - a previous poster is absolutely correct that SF agents are NOT employees and CAN do what Bud did. What others are claiming about Bud's sign violating company policies have to do with signs that are racist, crude and the like - political statements are not part of that policy - unless it's showing support of Adolph Hitler or the like. Plus, in the past Bud has erected signs of this nature, got complaints from other SF agents, but the company told them "there was nothing they could do about it."

3) I cannot help but notice most every posted criticism of Bud's signs come from individuals who are obviously liberal and are of the crudest nature - with name calling. But yet notice the difference in "pro" comments where names and crude comments are not made of liberals. Conclusion: Liberals are not as respective to a difference of opnion as are conservatives.

4) TRUE: Bud is looking for a public billboard to erect the very same sign - and it will state at the bottom "Paid for by Bud Gregg, State Farm agent."

5) TRUE - Mandeville, La. is practically a Replican stronghold - VERY conservative. A registered Democrat cannot win office office there. So Bud knew his audience.

6) Something most people don't know....Bud's business has increased since his sign went up - with people calling him saying "you're the kind of insurance agent I want to do business with." Maybe Bud's not as dumb as some liberals might think.

Way to go Bud!!!
