Everyone pray that Brett Farve has one last great season in him!
Posted by snark at August 7, 2008 05:22 AMSo the ABC news Brian Ross defense for his protecting 3 bogus sources boils down to the Seinfeld Constanza defense...the bogus information told to him by 3 sources is not a lie because they believed it to be true at the time they told it.
"Journalistic Ethics?"
Isn't that an oxymoron?
Posted by Judith at August 7, 2008 06:13 AM“His basic answer was that Brian Ross and ABC News have reputations for being highly regarded journalistic outlets, so we put our credibility behind the story, and that should lead people to believe that this is credible.”
To me, that statement is outrageous. This is exactly what is wrong with the media. How dare you question our credibility. How arrogant and elitist can you be. Oh, I'm sorry, my bad for questioning the very same media that has distorted and lied for eight (or more) years. What was I thinking.

Posted by Judith at August 7, 2008 07:23 AM"This brutal new attack ad from House candidate Nikki Tinker, who is challenging liberal Tennessee Rep. Steven Cohen in tomorrow's Democratic primary, just might be the nastiest, most race-baiting (and Jew-baiting) ad of the entire cycle: "While he's in our churches, clapping his hands and tapping his feet ... he's the only senator who thought our kids shouldn't be allowed to pray in school," the announcer says, referring to an old vote against school prayer from when Cohen was a state senator. And remember, this is coming from a Democrat." TPM h/t instapundit.com

If Edwards fails to clear up the story in short order, he risks party officials deciding not to have him speak or, if they do, creating a distraction from a week focused on Barack Obama accepting the nomination.
"If there is not an explanation that's satisfactory, acceptable and meets high moral standards, the answer is 'no,' he would not be a prime candidate to make a major address to the convention," said Don Fowler, a former Democratic National Committee chair." Slate

If they REALLY believe that, then they are fools. If Hillary Clinton were the nominee, Barack Obama would have been the vice presidential nominee a month ago. I can not believe Todd is passing on this foolishness." BigTentDemocrat at TalkLeft h/t Instapundit.com
Rove gets more $100 bills, thanks Coyote.
Jeez Phid, I sure as hell hope KBR doesn't get the contracts on those Nuclear Plants. If the electrical is anything like those showers in Iraq we'll be lighting up more than cities.
You know we have Nuclear energy here in Maricopa county but it sure isn't any cheaper than any where else I've lived in America.
Posted by Seven of Six at August 7, 2008 09:17 AMThe Germans on nuclear power...
You'll notice how they are talking about keeping the ones they have running for 8 years longer...not building new ones. Hmmmm. Wonder if that is why why they're buying this stuff for next generation solar plants?
Now isn't that solar technology just a hoot! You print solar panels like you print a Word document...at $0.99 a watt (and the price will drop like a stone in the future). What that means to me is that I can go solar for 1/4 of what it would have cost previously. And it also means that for the cost of 1 new nuclear plant 1.2 million homes can come off the grid. We need 40 reactors now? You just paid to take every home in America off the grid and end the use of coal for power generation.
Add in what T. Boone is doing with wind, a few clean burning natural gas generation stations for peak demand, and we have a real solution that exists now. And carbon emissions? Largely gone for power generation.
Something tells me you'll just hate this idea.
Posted by phidipides at August 7, 2008 09:18 AMAnd notice, peter, it's quite allright to use "anonymous sources" on MSNBC , as long as it trashes Bill or Hillary.
GAWD, these people are hypocrites.
Can't pick a principle, and apply it consistently at all, can they?
Posted by Mary at August 7, 2008 09:20 AMMary, that teeny tiny cock you're sucking - peter's - is a right wing tool. So that makes you now a supporter of more war for oil, torture, another Katrina, another war in Iran. Basically, you're no independent, you're a right wing tool yourself. Have fun, goatblowers!
Posted by iamcoyote at August 7, 2008 09:34 AMNo phid, I don't. The cheaper the better, then maybe lower incomes can participate. Everything, so far, is only for upper incomes to "enjoy". For most of us, it's pie in the sky. Texas is leading in wind power and is establishing it's lead in off shore wind power. My whole thing is participation. You see the Ed Begley's of the world and say "wouldn't it be nice". Then you look in the checkbook, make the call and find out it would cost $38K to run your house still connected to the grid.
It takes a Texan to lead...
Posted by peter at August 7, 2008 10:03 AMOh, we have decent policies in place for Solar energy here in AZ, except some (mine) our home owners association will not permit it. Others can invest, get panels, even store the energy and sell it back, but it's not mandatory or law.
It should be or huge incentives for us to do so.
I'd love it just for heating the damn pool in winter. Natural gas is expensive here.

Posted by Seven of Six at August 7, 2008 12:07 PMI mentioned this above...
Obama — in his de facto new role as leader of the Democratic Party — just put out a statement condemning Nikki Tinker's attack on Stephen Cohen, which has been widely interpreted as a thinly disguised reference to Cohen's Judaism:
“These incendiary and personal attacks have no place in our politics, and will do nothing to help the good people of Tennessee. It’s time to turn the page on a politics driven by negativity and division so that we can come together to lift up our communities and our country,” Obama said.
"Texas smells like ass." only around Pecos and the nearest points to New Mexico around El Paso.

T. Boone is from Oklahoma. A little town called Holdenville. He made his money by going to Texas and screwing Texas oil companies out of their assets. Texans ain't too bright, ya know.
