Posted by Judith at August 8, 2008 03:21 AMThat was a very strange article, Mary.
It's customary in the parties to have influence in two ways, sometimes mixing: raising cash or raising volunteer support (campaign organizing). If you have a hankering for running for office, there's no better way to show your suitability than raising large sums for the Party candidates - the assumption is that you can do the same for yourself when the party nominates you. Doing groundwork organizing or running a campaign is noble and loyal, but Uncle Sam's 2 sons are really only interested in who has the ca$h.
Which explains why both parties have an unusual attraction for millionaires.

Posted by iamcoyote at August 8, 2008 07:24 AMObama is allowing the full counting of the electoral vote from Florida and Michigan.
This may be a huge tactical blunder. If a few super delegates switch to Hillary, she wins enough to be the Democratic candidate.
It isn't over yet. Hillary is now back, and working hard at it. She may catch a few ears, since Obama has been falling in the polls.
