Comments: Dear NBC

I suspect that Bush has been good for G.E.'s bottom line.

And they don't really care what we think. Television for G.E. is a loss leader (I suspect).

Now if you want to buy a nuclear power plant, maybe they'll listen to you.

Consider the mind-set of NBC's employees:

Everybody sort of likes the president, except for the real whack-jobs, maybe on the left -- I mean -- like him personally. - Chris Matthews

Daar NBC,

Thank you for showing President Bush with the US atheletes. Please ignore the hate mail from the left-wing kooks.

Thanks,

dead nbc,

if you enjoy appealing to the bottom feeders, the dead enders, the morally challenged, keep showing bush. he appeals to the muck of humanity. literally.

Posted by Turkana at August 10, 2008 10:33 PM

I predict that after the Olympics, puzzled Chinese scientists will study the millions of maggot cadavers around bush's visit venues to see what made them gag to death.

Posted by TIKI AL at August 11, 2008 12:31 AM

I thought it was especially crappy of NBC to insert the Bush interview right in the middle of women's' gymnastics-likely one of the most highly watched segments. It was a fairly long interview, and Bob Costas asked some fairly political softball questions-you know, for an Olympics.

Yes GE/NBC really did show the American people where their priorities are, and how truth is merely an unpleasant byproduct of their real endeavors.

Posted by Joseph at August 11, 2008 02:30 AM

Well, if one wants to consume the products of the corporate world, then watching our pinhead prez is what one gets as part of the "treat", I guess. But is having the US "president" at the Olympic spectacle a routine thing? I don't remember this being an issue before. Was Nixon shoin' up at the Olympics? Or St Reagan?

Is this another crappy shitass "development" ala Rover---get his little turdboy's face in front of everyone at every opportunity, shape the "agenda" of everything. The world of cameras and playing to the fools.

There are too many American politician faces everywhere, all doing and saying very little of use. Except Bush, who has done a great deal---of evil. Carry on!

Posted by euzoius at August 11, 2008 05:18 AM

The Olympics are not suppose to be 'political.' Costas should not have interviewed Bush about anything, period. The games are about achievement. Not failed presidents. Keep leaders out of the Olympics.

While he yucks it up at the games, Bush is a symbol for everything that tainted, toxic and corrupt by many in the world, much less the US.

Posted by Judith at August 11, 2008 05:29 AM

I'm glad I'm able to watch on the Canadian station. Not only do I get to see the events sooner and with less interruptions, but I don't have to listen to the rah-rah American reporters play up the US team and trash the others. And not once did I hear the insinuations about the Chinese gymnastic team being too young. NBC couldn't stop trying to make a scandal out of it. Yawn.

Posted by iamcoyote at August 11, 2008 05:33 AM

Oh, what a shame, Coyote doesn't like Americans rooting for Americans. Figures...

Nice to see our president taking an interest in our team members. What a honor for them to have the US president come by and give them a pat on the back. His presence at the China/US mens basketball game was quite an appearance. He went by the Chinese team, showed them respect, and gave our team a nice lift. This isn't politics, this is nationalism, he wasn't pushing any agenda, just another fan wanting to spur his team on.

Well anyway, what a wasted thread since, I'm sure, Turkana knew our president was leaving China shortly after witnessing the mens 400 relay win. Just some window dressing for the troops here.

Posted by peter at August 11, 2008 06:20 AM

Yes Muck(dog)..Do tell.. in just what Olympic event is Dear Leader competing? You know the guy who falls off his bike regularly...the guy who fell off a Segway and choked on a pretzel?

Turned the channel while gagging when Dear Cheerleader in Chief was on at the top of the primetime hour mucking it up with the fawning Costas. And while I'm at it....Costas needs to stop dying his hair...it looks ridiculous.

But most importantly was that the men's swimming relay race was really amazing... Good for all the swimmers for making it so exciting.

Posted by emal at August 11, 2008 06:23 AM

Wasn't that a great race? And beating the fastest guy France has to do it after all that smack he talked! Fantastic!

Posted by peter at August 11, 2008 07:12 AM

I caught some of the opening ceremonies, including the Bushes entrance. We asked him to boycott, he's sitting front row for the Chinese dancers.

And I noticed when the Iraqi athletes were introduced, George clapped along with Laura, her face frozen in that Novocaine Joker-esqe grin.

This post is dead on. I'm sick of looking at the man.

And Peter McGoatblower, he's not there "taking an interest in our team". He was there because he's got no moral ground to stand on by NOT being there. And because we're afraid of China. Eat it.

Posted by MaskedVigilante at August 11, 2008 07:20 AM

He was there because he's got no moral ground to stand on by NOT being there. And because we're afraid of China. Eat it.

Exactly! In fact, every time they show his simian mug, he's automatically humiliated because he's been forced by his own failed policies to play China's monkey puppet.

Posted by iamcoyote at August 11, 2008 07:34 AM

There is no turd, however large and foul, that petr mcGoat will not slather with Jiff's creamy peanut butter before gobbling whole.

"pat on the back", good jeebus, what an idiot.

Posted by euzoius at August 11, 2008 08:33 AM

If I were an Olympic athlete, I'm sure the EXACT validation for 20 years of grueling training and competition would be a pat on the back from the Worst President Ever.

I'd be the one who said, "Please don't touch me, Mr. President. Everything you touch turns to shit. Can I go compete now?"

Posted by MaskedVigilante at August 11, 2008 08:36 AM

I'd be the one who said, "Please don't touch me, Mr. President. Everything you touch turns to shit. Can I go compete now?"

I'd be hawkin' up a loogie when I saw him approaching - he'd know not to come near. As for the girl who showed Bush her ass, she was just greeting him in his native simian manner. Sorta like trying to learn a little French when going to make a speech in France, right?

(btw, what kind of idiot presents her butt to a head of state for the entire world to see?) It was an embarrassing moment for everyone concerned, imo.

There is no turd, however large and foul, that petr mcGoat will not slather with Jiff's creamy peanut butter before gobbling whole.

Poetic genius, euzoius!

Posted by iamcoyote at August 11, 2008 08:55 AM

"Poetic genius, euzoius!"

Great lefty's celebrating shit.

Posted by peter at August 11, 2008 09:01 AM

And then, did you get a look at the Democratic Party platform? Seems they've dropped "gays and lesbians" entirely from the platform. Barry Obama doesn't want them there.

Posted by peter at August 11, 2008 09:30 AM

And while I'm at it....Costas needs to stop dying his hair...it looks ridiculous.

emal, you're right - in the five seconds it took to grab the remote and switch back to the blessedly Bush-free CBC, I thought there was something hinky about Costas' head. Not quite Roy Orbison, but pretty dang silly looking. Sadly the US girl's gymnastic team looked like crap last night, the Chinese blew them outta the water (in the diving competition as well).

Posted by iamcoyote at August 11, 2008 09:34 AM

They only looked bad in the floor exercise. The others came in okay, with the US leading on two of the four area's. Didn't look like an "out of the water" event.

Posted by peter at August 11, 2008 10:15 AM

China is one of the only countries W. can travel to these days where his very presence doesn't incite protests and riots.

Oh wait...

Posted by swoosh at August 11, 2008 10:27 AM

Considering all that chimpy has done to help China - down to giving them one of our spy planes - you'd think they would give him a medal!

Bush didn't make it political. He said it was a sporting event, and he went to watch.

It's the liberal kooks who threw a fuss. But they do that anyway.

Posted by m12 at August 11, 2008 12:23 PM

Bush didn't make it political.

That's bullshit. His very presence there was political and you know it.

Jeebus, how blind are these trolls?

Posted by MaskedVigilante at August 11, 2008 01:11 PM

They're not blind, MV, they're just stoopid. If only stoopid really hurt, then we'd know these guys on the street, and we could avoid and shun them.

Posted by iamcoyote at August 11, 2008 01:43 PM

Is being stoopid like being high all the time?

Posted by MaskedVigilante at August 11, 2008 02:20 PM

Tell you what, I could be fallin' down drunk, and trippin' on acid and still not be as stoopid as this lot. A golden retriever could outsmart these idiots, though peepee mcgoatfucker might compete in the ball licking portion of the event!

Posted by iamcoyote at August 11, 2008 02:24 PM

Right on, Turkana.

And while we're at it: NBC, please start showing more teams than the USA + its No. 1 rival.

Posted by wilder at August 11, 2008 06:46 PM

If Abe Lincoln was the T-bone steak of Presidents, George W. Bush would be a pair of Twinkies, and not a fresh pack either, but ones pushed back on the shelf and forgotten for years, until the cream filling turns to dry window caulk, and the surrounding buns look like mummies.

Posted by Copeland at August 11, 2008 08:46 PM

Dear NBC,

Thank you for showing President Bush grabbing the a$$es of US atheletes, and generally acting like the spoiled rich brat that he is. It has made it much easier for me to justify not watching one second of your coverage.

Thanks,
