Sad thing is that should Bush succeed in forcing the changes to the ESA it won't even rank as a footnote in his tragedy of a presidency.

In other news....

Please! PLEASE! John McCain, pick Tom Ridge as your Vice President! PLEASE!

Why is this suprising for a President, who when he focuses on any issue, turns it to SHIT? You name the topic or department he or his cronies have fucked it up! Why should endangered species be any different?

I could provided a list by department of what he has hosed up. Now I wonder...what issue has he taken control of to make better? Damn, I am drawing a blank!

Now I wonder...what issue has he taken control of to make better? Damn, I am drawing a blank!

The lack of income for the military-industrial complex and weapons manufacturing. He took care of that.

And he got rid of that nasty 4th Amendment that was such a bottle neck for federal law enforcement agencies engaged in domestic spying.

Really, snark? Tom Ridge? Bwahahaha! How will that wrinkly old white haired dude manage to stay awake?

...what issue has he taken control of to make better?

The loss of profits faced by incredibly wealthy hedge fund managers and banking CEOs. Bailouts have been special during this administration.

The lack of income for the military-industrial complex and weapons manufacturing. He took care of that.

With $1.2 trillion going into defense related expenditures, they were funded. It just didn't go where it needed to go. But then again, lining the pockets of his fellow mobsters was the order of the day.

How will that wrinkly old white haired dude manage to stay awake?

McCain or Ridge?

McCain 08 "Vote GOP (Gramp's Old Party)!"

Who really gives a damn about endangered species?

Justice staffers won't be prosectued for law-breaking.

But, [Mukasey] told delegates to the American Bar Association annual meeting, "not every wrong, or even every violation of the law, is a crime. In this instance, the two joint reports found only violations of the civil service laws."

Violating the law isn't a crime? OK, even if this is some legal definition of crime, doesn't it require some consequence? I mean, you get a speeding ticket for breaking the speed limit law if you get caught. But if you're caught politicizing the Justice Department by breaking civil service laws, nothing? Sheesh.

The only words these people know are "fuck you."

That's also the sum of their philosophy of life. And all that animates their every waking moment.

Who really gives a damn about endangered species?

Classic response that from the disconnected.

Can't understand a thing unless there is an immediate and direct response.

Well, that depends on what your definition of "is" is.

You do have a small point.

I am utterly unconcerned about the fate of bed wetting, chicken$hit chickenhawks like you who try and catapult propaganda on progressive sites. Their bleating whines, disinformation, outright lies, and utter hypocrisy only make their upcoming demise seem that much more entertaining.

What upcoming demise? I was told that 1992 was to be the new age for the Dimocrats and the kooks. How did that work out for you?

Who really gives a damn about endangered species?

I do.

Being a farm kid, my first pet when I was about 5 was a beautiful red calf. Being a kid, I named her "Lightening". She was the best cow in the world. When I felt bad or something made me cry I would talk to her. I shared many good times with my cow. She often made me feel better. When she hit 18 months of age we butchered her and put her in the freezer. Pretty tough on me, and the first meal from her was very difficult. My Dad, in his great wisdom, said "God damnit, what the hell is wrong with you!? Put some ketchup on it." I did, and she was pretty tasty.

I hated it when we killed chickens or rabbits. I hated it when the pigs died to make bacon. My Mom, a very wise person, later told me that it was okay to be upset at Lightening's demise, but any living thing's demise. She explained that we that we had animals so we could eat and live. That is what the animals did for us. They allowed us to live.

Coming from a hunting family, she told me that when I grew up and started hunting that I should always remember that when something dies it should only be because we are going to eat it. Otherwise it is a waste. If the death of an animal is necessary it should only be because it feeds us and keeps us alive. No other reason is acceptable and death for pleasure was unacceptable and was to be avoided.

On that farm I learned many things. Black ants and red ants will fight each other. Red fuzzy ants are really a wingless wasp and can make you pay when you pick them up. Barn owls make absolutely no sound when they take a mouse and then fly off. Some spiders are big enough to get lizards and wrap them up in their silk. You can feel bats "clicking" in your solar plexus when they are echo-locating. I learned a sense of wonder, an appreciation for things that exist. I learned to marvel at this world.

So you say "Who really gives a damn about endangered species?" I do. I marvel at living things. I marvel at nature. And since I will only kill what I eat, you are very very lucky I'm not a cannibal. You would likely go nicely with Fava beans and a nice Chianti.
