Wow. Proofreading would've been a good idea.
You have an excellent point and I'm in total agreement, but the thing reads like you wrote it drunk. I get that you're busy, but give it a read thru, dude.
EXCELLENT point. And he's been pandering to the zombies for far too long. We don't want those people. The idea is to destroy their faith in THEIR candidate and get them all to stay home on election day.
Posted by MaskedVigilante at August 19, 2008 07:40 AMWell said, paradox.
When the dems push protection of the environment, social justice, and health care and oppose militarism and corporatism, many evangelicals will naturally turn out to vote for them.
Pandering to them with spiritual chatter is not convincing. Through your deeds rather than your words shall you be known.
The dems need to give up on the idea that there is a center that they need to move to. there is no one home at the center. There are a large number of folks on the right and I think there is an even larger number of people on the left. When the dems commit to values like social justice, universal health care, environmental protection, they will turn out their votes and win.
This is the big mistake the dems have made in the past few elections: believing that there is a center. Change comes from committing to a progressive agenda. The country is ready for change.
Posted by angel at August 19, 2008 07:41 AMFuck the godbots - by believing in an invisible angry sky wizard, they've already shown their gullibility. Which is why the 'pukes were smart to turn themselves into the "god" party, 'cos they'd have an instant voting bloc of zombies ready to do as they are told. They've also got a leadership so corrupt, they rival the neocons for unadulterated slime, so they'll be told to vote McCain. My office has a megachurch godbot, and there is nothing that will sway her from voting the way her church and hubby tell her to. After I told her that McCain is likely to cause endless war, the collapse of the economy, the rape of women and the death of children, she told me that it must be the end times and she knows where she'll be going, so dead kids don't matter. I said "but what if it isn't end times, and you just helped kill millions of kids?" She just repeated "I know where I'm going." For all their talk of "morality" these people haven't advanced past the first stage of Kohlberg's moral development. And they never will.
These people will never vote for a rational sounding xtian, because they're irrational and they want an irrational leader that'll promise to bring their rapture closer. Goddam, they won't even listen to their own savior's words, what makes anyone think they'll listen to someone not of their kind spouting Jesus shit?
MV, nothing will destroy their faith in their candidate. It doesn't matter if McCain dumped his sick wife, if he called his new wife a cunt, if McCain stole a god-story from a literary figure, if he has $600 shoes. Their church tells them who to vote for and all thinking ends at that point.
Their church tells them who to vote for and all thinking ends at that point.
I agree, and they must be telling the zombies to vote McCain. I haven't checked in on them in a while. Last I heard out of them, Huckabee wasn't religious ENOUGH.
she told me that it must be the end times and she knows where she'll be going, so dead kids don't matter. I said "but what if it isn't end times, and you just helped kill millions of kids?" She just repeated "I know where I'm going."
Holy shit. Yeah, you might as well be talking to a house plant.
At least house plants put oxygen back in the air. Godbots suck it all outta the room.
Posted by iamcoyote at August 19, 2008 08:38 AMSorry, nobody is going to flock to Mr. SUV cavalry al Gore until he follows his own bullshit.
Posted by m12 at August 19, 2008 08:56 AMNo offense, but one zomby in your office does not a monolith make. Maybe get out and talk to some folks a bit more, maybe even some folks you think you might disagree with. Works in both directions, there big guy.
Posted by Rael at August 19, 2008 09:31 AMOkay, Rael, how about the 4 Baptist churches I attended in different states, back when I was "born again," the Catholic church I was brought up in, the Mormon Church I attended to find out wtf they were doing, the First Assembly church I was a part of until they started babbling like fookin' idiots, and calling it speaking in tongues? That enuff "getting out more" for ya?
Posted by iamcoyote at August 19, 2008 09:45 AMNo offense, but one zomby in your office does not a monolith make.
(ASIDE: Zombies are incapable of spelling the name of their species, and this is often a good way of detecting them.)
And I believe that yes, it does a monolith make.
Maybe get out and talk to some folks a bit more, maybe even some folks you think you might disagree with.
That's why I'm here! Enlighten me!
Works in both directions, there big guy.
"Big guy." Are you, like, one of those people at the Beijing airport waiting for your bibles? I didn't know they had WiFi at the airport.
Posted by MaskedVigilante at August 19, 2008 11:18 AMWhy wasn't this question asked at the godbot inquisition?
"Bobby Jindal wants to replace the teaching of evolution with intellygent deezine in biology classes in the public schools. Do you agree or disagree with the former Hindu who turned Catholic to get enough votes to become the republican governor of Louisiana?"
I'll see your "When does life begin?", and raise you a "When does stupidity begin?"!
Posted by TIKI AL at August 19, 2008 01:22 PMoh dear, iamcoyote- I was getting this from you for awhile and now I am sure: you are a disappointed romantic. I sincerely hope that good things come your way and swing you back to the postive. You sure are smart and funny as hell...it would be nice if you didnt use it just to degrade everything.
Just my opine - worth as much as you would pay - which is nada. :-)Best to you.
Posted by the young Judith (tyj) at August 19, 2008 06:51 PMyou are a disappointed romantic.
Totally nailed it. Good one! And yeah, I get mean when I'm pissed - I've been told I can be caustic, but I prefer to think of myself as sardonic. It just sounds better.
Posted by iamcoyote at August 19, 2008 07:17 PMI'm a disappointed romantic, too. And I also like sardines! Should we say....meet??
Posted by TIKI AL at August 19, 2008 08:21 PMI dunno, TIKI. Homeland security's on my tail. Could be dangerous!
