Comments: Justice No Factor In US War On Terror

Do you pity the Bush Administration because of its response to the fact that it assisted in torture of Mr Arar? That is what it means when you say its response is "pathetic." It elicits your sense of pity.

No. The response of the Bush Administration was by no means pathetic. It was vicious and brutal -- in my opinion -- or perhaps ignorant and arrogant.

Please condemn vice and brutality. In clear terms.

ignorant and arragant is correct, evil is better. It is an evil response by the Bush Cheney and now McSame people. the evil McCain spoke of saterday night. The evil he said must be defeated.
Alas this blog is filled with hatred for Barack Obama passed under the guise of "just saying" make no mistake, MacCain is evil and if elected we get more of the same.
Dead soldiers, no health care, lost jobs and more war, womens issues cast aside. The choice of the Left Coaster shocking A puzzlement, maybe!

It elicits your sense of pity.

Well, maybe to you, bub.

For chrissake, what the hell have we become?

We haven't "become" anything. It's just that this admin has decided to stop pretending we're the great and good country they tell us we are from kindergarten on, and decided to dispense with the American Ideal and replaced it with Imperial Imperative.

Hadn't you heard? This is just an extension of the Ledeen principle - every so often, America has to take some crappy innocent person and torture and destroy him, just to show we mean business. (see, Arar, Padilla, etc.)

What have we become? The United States of Fear, Doom, and Unapologetic Dickhood.

Perhaps it is YOU that is ignorant and arrogant. "Pathetic" also means "miserably or contemptibly inadequate."

Meanwhile, in a 2007 report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office:

GAO investigators succeeded in passing through TSA security screening checkpoints undetected with components for several improvised explosive devices (IED) and an improvised incendiary device (IID) concealed in their carry-on luggage and on their persons. The components for these devices and the items used to conceal the components were commercially available.

Investigators, plural. Of course...

Specific details regarding the device components and the methods of concealment GAO used during its covert testing are classified by TSA.

Anyway, the bombs are still going through just fine. Toothpaste? Zippos? Bottled water? Canadian software engineers? Not so much.

Codemonkey? Are you serious? Your main point is taken, but referring to someone as a codemonkey? ? ?

What purpose does it serve to call a person a codemonkey, and how can that possibly help **anything** - your case, the Bush admin case . . .any case?

Posted by Paul at August 20, 2008 10:18 PM

Easy, Paul. I'm a code monkey (for the money & benefits) and we all consider it a term of endearment.

"Instead, now the Administration is facing costly court fees to contest Arar's right to sue them."

No, that would be we, the taxpayers who are facing those costly court fees.
