Comments: 12,000 More Troops Heading For Afghanistan

biden's son is heading to iraq. cindy mc cain says mother teresa personally requested she adopt two children, and jonny mac doesn't know how many homes he and cindy lou who owns...

and then he tells a town hall participant that the draft under his watch may be reinstated...???
the surge is working but no comments for afghanistan. mc cain is a nutjob.

i can't wait for the debates, all of this will be exposed and the media will have no choice but to investigate.

The "logic" of endless war, the losing sight of any purpose, the absence of any strategy by civilian or soldier.

Phillip had his Revolt of the Netherlands, Napoleon his Spanish ulcer. BushAmerica its "war on terror". All brought down foolish militarist empires, and perhaps that's all to the good. Such things likely deserve be brought down.

How many fronts? Who knows. What's being accomplished? Continued "fighting". For what? No one knows or cares. The logic of a challenged military empire, run by elite stooges for the benefit/welfare of corporate industry, playing to ignorant pinheads and rubes watching their standard of living decline.

Has anyone even seen anyone attempt to explain to the citizenry the "strategy" employed in Afghanistan? Who all the factions are? Their size and effectiveness? Who opposes whom? What the players goals are? Whether any Gen'ral thinks our "goals" can be accomplished and by what means? Whether our current actions bear any resemblance to what would be needed? How additional troops will "turn it all around"? I haven't.

Both Fallon and McKiernan want(ed) more imperial sturmtruppen, a common attitude of generals, especially in "resource starved" theatres. So they'll likely get some; for what, who knows. I wonder if they do.

We're in two hopeless strategic quagmires, committed to "building" democracies that have never really existed as far as I can tell. Our military presence/occupation simply fuels jihadis, and results in the deaths of non-jihadi civilians by the score. Both countries are in physical shambles (thanks to us) and economically have nothing for most of the abjectly poor citizens to do. Many can hardly survive, yet relief efforts are attacked and seem futile.

Bushist militarism has abjectly failed, and harmed millions, and now we don't have the slightest bloody idea of what to do, except more of the same, hunker down, shoot more, kill more, that's gotta work. Finish the job! Blah, blah, blah, vomit.

Oh, finally let's start ginning up and escalating tension/confrontation with Russia, of all things. That's a strategic winner in these circumstances!

Enjoy the meltdown, both economic and military.

Great post, oozo. A surgical strike after 9-11 to eliminate the Taliban leadership and Bin Laden and his merry band was what I was calling for at the time. In and out. No occupations.

Even better, if the bush administration, FBI, and CIA had been doing their jobs there would have been no 9-11.

now that George W. Bush has agreed with Barack Obama to institute a withdrawal timetable in Iraq, how long will it be until John McSurge announces that the Withdrawal Timetable was his idea all along (and the Media will fawn). I bet he will, and with a straight face and square jaw.

That must be why Obama is being looked at as the incumbent now with America's wrong direction polling T2. He is getting attached to the Bush admin. and falling in the polls with it now. McCain's being seen as the "change" agent, the out of the beltway agent. That explains why he's falling in the polls to McCain. Obama now equals a third Bush admin...continuing on what Bush has started. There is now difference between the two.

Thanks, TIKI. Your approach would have been best. I supported the invasion of Afghanistan, but I was new to the "ways" of Bushco.

Peter, are you drunk already? Or just having some really, really bad gas pains? Just let it blow, whatver the long suffering family says, it's causing severe brain problems for you....

Obama = Bush, Good Jeebus. Not even Pinhead Majority is THAT stupid. Even I have my limits of contempt for them.....which you apparently don't, and you know them better than me!

The ratfuck is in motion - make your opponent look like your weakness. McCain making Obama look like the Washington Beltway insider, while McCain's time of service in DC is approaching 3 decades.

Of course, if Obama picks up Biden as his running mate, the GOP is going to laughing it's ass off - they'd be validating the charge!

Posted by idiosynchronic at August 21, 2008 04:30 PM

I already am.

Posted by peter at August 21, 2008 04:46 PM

Ok, now don't get your panties in a wad.......

But isn't this exactly what Obama called for......more troops in Afghanistan?

Excuse me, but where are we getting 12,000 more troops?

Posted by Judith at August 21, 2008 06:28 PM

Holy crap, what euzoius said.

Excuse me, but where are we getting 12,000 more troops?

Extended tours.

Posted by phidipides at August 21, 2008 07:34 PM

No from Oklahoma and Missouri, they have troops to spare. The flooding is over, no problems.

Excuse me, but where are we getting 12,000 more troops?

Captain America will just shit a few more out...

So, McCain thinks the draft might be a possibility. Seems that is worthy of at least a little attention by the media and Obama, don't ya think?

Posted by Judith at August 22, 2008 12:13 AM

In fact, that would sink McCain.

Posted by Judith at August 22, 2008 12:15 AM

As much as I dislike McCain and oppose the draft an any form...

So, McCain thinks the draft might be a possibility.

That's not actually what he said.

I'm sure he THINKS about it all the time and WILL probably reinstate it after he starts bombing (I almost wrote "declares war", but then I realized how ridiculous and outdated that is) Iran, Russia, and anybody else who looks at us funny.

But the big tizzy about the other day, that's not really what he said.

Posted by MaskedVigilante at August 22, 2008 07:45 AM

Thanks MV. He agreed with everything the person stated at the Town Hall meeting and among those statements was the draft comment. Of course, he believes in the draft in the case of WWIII. Elect McCain and we may get the draft and WWIII.
