Damn, Mary. Your links make things bleak. God,guns and family. K. The only thing you left out is liquor. We've got Joe six-pack. Maybe a 12. Hell, do the full case in this economy.

Well, guess who you will not see on the Sunday morning political talk shows. Three of the four now-official candidates on the major-party presidential tickets are scheduled to sit down for questions: Democrat Barack Obama on ABC's "This Week," his running mate, Joe Biden, on NBC's "Meet the Press" and Republican John McCain on CBS' "Face the Nation."

Absent from this list, of course, is the GOP's star of the moment, the not-so-long-ago obscure governor of Alaska who is McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin.

Since she was thrust onto the national stage a week ago, her appearances on it have been tightly regulated by the McCain campaign: a few side-by-side campaign stops with him and, of course, her big speech to the GOP's convention Wednesday night.

Today, top McCain aide Rick Davis indicated the campaign isn't in any hurry to slot Palin for a Sunday show appearance -- and will do so only if he and other strategists determine it serves the ticket's purposes, not because some may view it as a required initiation for a major political player.

Appearing on MSNBC, Davis said, "I'd never commit to anything in the future. Our strategy is in our hands, not the media's. We're going to do what's in our best interests to try to win the election. If we think going on TV news shows are in our best interests, we'll do it. If we don't, we won't."

Whatsamatter Davis, your candidate too stupid to be exposed to the media? Put a black box in her bra.

I guess Davis is saying that Ms. Palinass isn't going to help the ticket (because she is to stupid to answer questions,) and will not be vented by the talk shows, less we find out just how stupid and radical right she is. Another first brought to you by the GOP.

Absolutely amazing that a man running for president will not ALLOW his running mate to speak. What? You afraid of what the little woman might say Grumpy?

Best line:

The woman is a scripted sit-com without a laugh track.

I've listened to the Bacevich interview already - it's really good.

Here's a counterargument:

The fourth-line, no-scoring-talent, pest agitators (or as we now call them, “energy guys”) have a specific job. Skate in, take a cheap shot, make it after the whistle. Make it against the rules. Stir something up. Put a wet glove in the other guy's face and rub it. Get the outrage flowing. Get the opponent not thinking about the game, get them thinking about your shenanigans. And what happens? The “victimized” team loses its composure, hitting back. The guy who hits second is always the guy who goes to the penalty box.

Watching Sarah Palin this week, and the reaction to her by both sides, and all the talk of hockey mommery, I realized that this is who she is. She skates into the corner, throws up an elbow, and the Democrats cry: “Foul!”

Only it has one more twist - the fans for Republicans can then act indignant (and secretly smug) because they're the ones whom are the underdogs, the one whom are being picked on. It's political jiujitsu at its finest as the Republicans have been practicing it since 1968. "Oh, we're persecuted!" "Oh, the media has it in for us!"

Meanwhile, Sarah, and the others like her have knee-capped a wingman and hemmed in a defender up against the boards.

Classy touch when the Dems waved their flags then threw them into the trash.

Posted by onar at September 7, 2008 06:08 AM

Classy touch when the 'pukes steal the flags from the Dem convention then get a known fabricator from Faux "news" to push a false story (Cameron's done this before) that they threw them into the trash.

But then, we all know 'pukes are stealin' lyin' cheatin' assholes, didn't we?

Posted by iamcoyote at September 7, 2008 06:31 AM

Onar, your not welcome here. Go spread your lies elsewhere. The people here are too informed and educated for you.

Posted by Judith at September 7, 2008 06:49 AM

. . and here's onar to prove my point.

If they're not throwing the elbow, they're telling the crowd that the sonofabitch celebrity player flipped you the bird when you weren't looking.

Posted by idiosynchronic at September 7, 2008 07:40 AM

Try that again Coyote. Fox happened on this after the Denver Post had the story. The guy who rescued the flags found them there after a week had passed. If they were waiting to be picked up, a week is a long time for that. Not too important were they? Did they leave anything else of similar importance? I don't think so.

Meanwhile J likes to talk about the lack of press availability. Chelsea was one of Clinton's principal surrogates and never gave the press a word. I'm not equating the two other than indicating a lack of willingness to put up with press activity. Besides aren't y'all against the MSM? What could they do that would better your cause?

Posted by peter at September 7, 2008 07:52 AM

Chelsea? Just want to make sure we're on the same page here. You mean that daughter of Mr. J. Reno's that was SO ugly?

Posted by TIKI AL at September 7, 2008 08:03 AM

they're telling the crowd that the sonofabitch celebrity player flipped you the bird when you weren't looking.

Exactly. They have no compunction about making shit up, it's about the screaming of "foul" and getting a complicit ref to believe the lie about something that doesn't matter at all.

Posted by iamcoyote at September 7, 2008 08:12 AM

stupid to answer questions,) and will not be vented by the talk shows, less we find out just how stupid and radical right she is.

Ah...Judith..that would "vetted"...vented or venting is when exhaust from,.. say your house..or when you pass gas. Save the "stupids" would be a good idea for you.

Posted by jj at September 7, 2008 08:29 AM

"Chelsea was one of Clinton's principal surrogates and never gave the press a word."

Peter, you are realing digging at the bottom of the barrel for that one.

Posted by Judith at September 7, 2008 08:44 AM

jj, fuck-off.

Posted by Judith at September 7, 2008 08:46 AM

I see J is practicing what those Kansans practiced back in 1867. They liked the Blacks they had, just didn't want any more so they voted down Black suffrage along with womens suffrage.

Posted by peter at September 7, 2008 08:47 AM

to all the trolls- your beloved president Bush was not allowed to come to the GOP Convention, nor was your beloved Cheney. Even Bush's name was wiped clean from convention speeches. He, Bush, was eventually given a 12 minute phone in speech only after a typical Bush temper tantrum. You trolls continue to defend the least popular Administration in history, and it's would-be heir apparent, an old man living on the merits of an accident that happened to him 40 years ago.

Classy Judith !

Posted by jj at September 7, 2008 09:41 AM

Fucker, you wouldn't know class if it smacked you in the face. We call people like you Palin trailer trash.

Posted by Judith at September 7, 2008 09:56 AM

Maybe, maybe not...but I know where it isn't......................1-900-jjudith

Posted by jj at September 7, 2008 10:18 AM

What I don't understand is why you guys even READ comments by the likes of Peter, jj, et al. What's the point? Do what I do - just skip them.

Posted by Shirin at September 7, 2008 10:21 AM

Sure you don't.

How's the weather in Des Moines, Shirin?

Posted by jj at September 7, 2008 10:34 AM

McCain treated Bush just like Gore treated Clinton. He was given Monday night to speak, Gustav blew that away, and the remote live speech was an accommodation. Obama in the meantime held the Clinton Convention, having to retake it on Biden's night. The DNC used it's valuable time to campaign against a guy not on any ballot and not on the guy running. The linkage is stale, keep it up and you'll lose.

Gallup +3 McCain
Zogby +2 McCain
Rasmussen tied
CBS tied
SUSA McCain +3

So much for the event in Mile High Stadium. McCain/Palin has trumped Obama/Biden completely.

Posted by peter at September 7, 2008 11:56 AM

Shirin well, one day when Steve finally makes the decision to rid this blog of trash, then the problem will be solved.

Posted by Judith at September 7, 2008 02:18 PM

Wow. Apparently you guys DIDN'T watch the Sunday shows.

Sarah Palin will be interviewed by ABC this week. It was announced on Meet the Press.

Posted by Mary at September 7, 2008 06:30 PM

Sorry, meant: announced on Face the Nation.

Posted by Mary at September 7, 2008 06:34 PM

BTW, judith, calling other voters "Palin trailer trash" is why Democrats don't win the White House, and why Obama's supporters may very well have offended the very voters he needed to win.

Keep it up, and he'll lose in a landslide.

Posted by Mary at September 7, 2008 06:38 PM

Mary my dear, I was never an Obama supporter. Where have you been? Oh, and this is none of your business.

By-the-way, please change your name, as we already have one Mary who writes for this Blog. We don't need two.
