Comments: Disgusting

So what are this basing this nonsense on?

Thanks in advance.

As I predicted, McCain is going to run the dirtiest presidential campaign of the TV era over the next two months.

I don't know what the undecideds are hearing, but the press is going for The Gambler/Palin now. The insistent lies on the Bridge to Nowhere and hiding Palin from the press was bad enough, but the lipstick-pig bullshit tonight may be the last straw.

In case you missed it, Obama used the analogy "lipstick on a pig" to describe The Gambler's attempt to pretend he's for change. The Palin "Truth Squad" has accused Obama of calling Palin a pig. The press is calling universal bullcrap on Palin, but their tone is different.

This is starting to get interesting.

Found this dated July when apparently Romney made a similar attack.

"Barack Obama supports sensible, community-driven education for children because, among other things, he believes it could help protect them from pedophiles. A child's knowledge of the difference between appropriate and inappropriate touching is crucial to keeping them safe from predators."

Hmmm. I wonder why the right wingers would object to teaching 5 year olds about the dangers of pedophiles.

We're doomed! We're doomed! We're ... oh, wait.

First, CBS/WSJ poll has Obama up by 1.

Second, Huffington Post has an article up showing how Gallup, USAToday and CBS (yes, the poll mentioned above) shifted the party composition strongly towards Republicans this past week -- up to equal or within 1 point, despite all evidence of Democratic registration dwarfing Republican registration this year. Gallup acknowledged it and said that this is likely a convention spike that will settle back down.

Third, you have to read the following to get a sense of what is about to come:

It's Stand-Up Comedy Time for Obama as He Ratchets Up Criticism

Not since the Democratic primary has Obama been this animated and wound up during a campaign event. His style of campaigning became a bit drab over the summer when he stayed mostly on message. But after Palin’s convention speech received rave reviews, Obama has shown that he is not ready to relinquish the spotlight so easily. His performance tonight looked like a page from his days of campaigning against Hillary Clinton.

Obama did comment in March that his campaign does best when they flaunt conventional wisdom.

Posted by Anonny at September 9, 2008 07:05 PM

Obama's not tough enough! He's not hitting hard enough! He's... ... oh wait.

It is shameful and downright perverse for the McCain campaign to use a bill that was written to protect young children from sexual predators as a recycled and discredited political attack against a father of two young girls – a position that his friend Mitt Romney also holds. Last week, John McCain told Time magazine he couldn’t define what honor was. Now we know why.

McCain Memo: 'Respectful Campaign': "Throughout his life John McCain has held himself to the highest standards and he will continue to run a respectful campaign based on the issues."

Looked at this ad with some other people. We agreed that if we were typical Americans -- that is, not news junkies but pretty jaded and cynical about the political process -- we'd know immediately that this had to be a lie. It's just crazy.

However, there is a wide open opportunity for pushing the "McCain Lies" meme here.

that maverick's a class act.

Where's the volume? I can't hear above all the screeching about pigs and lipstick! I wonder which offense will be covered tomorrow? Or will the media will think they're equally shocking and call it a wash.

Posted by iamcoyote at September 9, 2008 07:57 PM

Man, I'm dragging my disabled ass to Obama's headquarters grand opening and volunteering for anything they got.

Weather is supposed to cool down to the high 90's!

Thx for your heartening and funny posts, Anonny

Could the media really be turning? I have to admit I am skeptical of my own posts, given all we've been through the last decade or two.

But just look at this:

Cosmic Inversion?

What alien invaded Mark Halperin's body? On AC360, he trashed McCain/Palin for being phony and dishonest. Then he went after the press for talking about lipstick on the pig, for not calling Palin out on the Bridge to Nowhere, and for letting her get away with such tight press restrictions.

Look, a lot of us (myself included) have been cynical about Obama's plays to corporate America, including the cave on FISA and the speeches at AIPAC.

BUT..... the benefit of that is that America's corporate leaders are comfortable with the idea of an Obama presidency (or a Hillary presidency, for that matter). Even Murdoch and Mellon-Scaife. Which means that they are less likely to use their influence to "gore" Obama in the media. In fact, there are a lot of undercurrents from the financial sector that they would prefer Obama to McCain, and that may actually open the doors to the media to push back on McCain.

Sorry to flood the comments, but this is also funny (not for trolls):

(What a) Wonderful Veep...

She don't know much about history
She don't believe in biology
She wants to change the science books
She wants to fire the White House cooks
But she does know how to speak on cue
And she knows if she makes fools of you
What a wonderful veep she would be

She don't know much about geography
She don't know much foreign policy
Don't know much about George Bush's war
Don't know what a VP is for
But she knows that one and one is two
And if McCain just tells her what to do
What a wonderful veep she would be

Now she don't claim to want any bridges
But she can sell you one
'Cuz maybe by pretending she never liked bridges
She can win your vote for John

She don't know much about history
She don't believe in biology
She wants to change the science books
She wants to fire the White House cooks
But she knows if she can hide the truth
Until we make it to the voting booth
What a wonderful veep she would be

Letting the electorate know the truth about zero is disgusting. Mandating that moral degenerates mentally molest impressionable young minds under the guise of age appropriate education is progressive.

Posted by onar at September 9, 2008 09:05 PM

Add "supports pedophilia" to McCain's greatest hits.

Dumb old fucker. I don't know if he's jumped the shark, but I'm pretty sure he can see the fin.

Posted by The Creator at September 9, 2008 09:05 PM

So all is forgiven. FISA is ok, keeping soldiers in Iraq ok, not taxing the rich...ok, Yeah, everything is ok now.

Make sure to mortgage your homes some more. He's going to need all the money you've got. And running for just what Kerry won plus a few. No new map, no more change...he's desperate now...."The Candidate" is coming true now.

"One significant shift in the poll is among women. Back in August, Obama was leading McCain by 14 points. Now his lead is just four points.

And just a month ago, McCain trailed Obama by 20 points among women ages 18 to 49. Now the Arizona Republican leads by three points." NBC poll cited by Anonny

Hillary: ‘We Will Do What We Are Asked’; Panetta: ‘They Are Totally Reactive’

“I am campaigning for Senator Obama and advocating on behalf of the Democratic Party and our positions.”HC

Stop the presses.

" John McCain’s 6 percentage-point bounce in voter support spanning the Republican National Convention is largely explained by political independents shifting to him in fairly big numbers, from 40% pre-convention to 52% post-convention in Gallup Poll Daily tracking.

By contrast, Democrats’ support for McCain rose 5 percentage points over the GOP convention period, from 9% to 14%, while Republicans’ already-high support stayed about the same.

The surge in political independents who favor McCain for president marks the first time since Gallup began tracking voters’ general-election preferences in March that a majority of independents have sided with either of the two major-party candidates. Prior to now, McCain had received no better than 48% of the independent vote and Obama no better than 46%, making the race for the political middle highly competitive." from Gallup tracking polls

So "Change" the tune of the Obama campaign. Unleash the hounds, America will see who represents "change". It won't be Democrats. Then there's the money. Where's the money going to come from? Obama needs money and lots of it.

527's = desperation.

Is there any Republican lie that you won't defend? Do you have any ethical limits at all?

I'm guessing not, you Good German.

"Barack Obama maintains 1 point lead in NBC/Wall St. Journal Poll."

That is hardly comforting.

That is hardly comforting.

With all the trolls, someone needed to post the truth with a link.

Posted by Seven of Six at September 9, 2008 09:48 PM

Didn't Anonny already mention that one? And then I mentioned an internal from that one? The poll is up at RCP for anyone to find. You're not worried that Fox owns that poll now?

Wow!

Judge tells Palin to STFU because she was emotionally abusing children! jesus, what the hell is wrong with that woman?

Posted by phidipides at September 9, 2008 11:02 PM

At least this ad is more accurate than the nonsense leveled at Sarah Palin.

Posted by Muck at September 9, 2008 11:04 PM

"Man, I'm dragging my disabled ass to Obama's headquarters grand opening and volunteering for anything they got."

Well, when you do let me know if they have yard signs. I went to the Headquarters in my area yesterday, and was told they weren't selling yard signs there. Seems we would have to travel 20 miles to get one at another location. WTF? First I have to pay $8.00 for a friggin sign and then travel 20 miles to get it. Nope, don't think so. Now I know why there aren't any yard signs displayed in my area.

"The judge even threatened to curb Palin's sister's child custody rights if family criticism of Wooten continued."

Phidipides, this must be a pretty nasty crew for a judge to threaten the Palin family.

7: If you are going down to 6th st and Jefferson, you best pack some heat, and hire someone to watch your vehicle, especially if it has dubs, dub dueces, or dub 4s.

That was a nice neighborhood before statehood.

Posted by TIKI AL at September 10, 2008 03:23 AM

Obama cares for you Judith, that's why he charges for what should be free. I thought Obama had gazillion dollars in his campaign? Why is he charging $8.00 for something that only he benefits. Doesn't he want to get elected...no signs???

Maybe Seven could ship you some.

Posted by peter at September 10, 2008 06:12 AM

jesus, what the hell is wrong with that woman?

No conscience. It's a GOP feature, not a bug.

SoS, if you have an old Pink Floyd Pigs album, just slap some lipstick on the cover and prop it up in the front yard.

Posted by iamcoyote at September 10, 2008 06:28 AM

Judith I'm still waiting for my Obama/Biden t-shirt for my 50 dollar donation. Thanks for the heads up on the sign, I'll just scratch out Feb. 5th and put Nov. 4th. No yard sign for me, our HOA will probably disapprove, I'll put it in my second story office window.
