Comments: In Case You Were Wondering

Thanks for the laugh. You might want to give others some background on this so they can understand the joke.

When the even more devastating than Y2K fireball and end times hit, don't come crying to me.

Would have been nice to see our's finished(in Texas), but for the Clinton/Gore admin. it would have been today. We could have had this science here.

Republican science: witches float.

That's funny! But you know what bothers me about this? The US, plus 20 European countries, invested $8 BILLION DOLLARS to "reproduce conditions just after the Big Bang."

Okay, the "Big Bang" is the best and most widely supported theory for the creation of the universe. But it's still just a theory. Which means there's a pretty fair chance this $8 billion will amount to nothing.

Oh, and one other thing. Why the fuck do we care?

I'm sure we could all come up with our own "Top Five Ways for the Governments of the World to Spend 8 Billion Dollars" wish list.

Medical research? Infrastructure? Education? Shelters for battered women and children?

Spending the 8 billion on a time-traveling DeLorean that runs on trash makes more sense.

MV, the Big Bang thing is just one of the things studied. Finding out the nature of particles, how they're formed, how they decline, under what conditions they react to each other could help with alternate forms of energy. And it's way better than spending $8bil a week to turn Iraq into a black hole.

Posted by iamcoyote at September 11, 2008 07:35 AM

Yes, that's all true. It might result in the discovery of a new form of energy. Which is great because we can then add it to the list of other alternative energy sources that we don't actively use to their potential.

Ooh, and we might also discover a parallel universe. Maybe the one where all the missing socks from the dryer go.

You never know, MV, you never know. But everyone knows socks don't go to a parallel universe! They're sucked into a black hole. Sheesh. You need to learn more science, buddy!

The black hole is in my basement and I have all your socks.
