apparently, Obama has replied: "See ya at the debate, Johnny"
Posted by T2 at September 24, 2008 12:51 PMThis should be an immediate disqualification for the presidency.
"Country First."
The "Country" wants a new goddamn president who can get to work on a REAL solution, not the typical solution where we freak out and burn the Constitution.
We don't need you to go sit in a fucking meeting in DC. We need this race to be complete so we can start trying to put our lives back together.
Posted by MaskedVigilante at September 24, 2008 12:52 PMSo if they don't solve the problem until 11/4 or after will McCain call for the election to be suspended?
Posted by goose1 at September 24, 2008 12:56 PMNo Turkana, its not panic, it triumph. McCain is going to go with Obama to kiss Cardinal Paulson's ring as the two of them stand beside the Liar-in-Chier put their unified blessings on the biggest rip-off in American history to make 41 the richest man ever as he is the recipient of the nation's greatest transfer of wealth.
As I have said before, there is only ONE party left, the Authoritarian Survellence Party, or perhaps it should be named the Authoritarian Subservient Serf's Party.
So if they don't solve the problem until 11/4 or after will McCain call for the election to be suspended?
McCain can't, but Bush can.
Posted by MaskedVigilante at September 24, 2008 01:33 PMGrampa McPOW to the rescue! Rescuing the rescue!
He doesn't know jack shit about the topic or problem or the state of discussions, but so what? It's a gimmick, like Waitin' for Gustav.
McTurd himself has been quite open about how he makes decisions: quickly and impulsively--and he's proud of it. And then he "lives with the consequences", when they (as usual) don't work out. Except soon "we'll" be living with the consequences of his rashness and poor thinking.
What an utterly ridiculous fool---another American embarrassment. The rancid scrappings at the bottom of our Imperial Barrel.
Posted by euzoius at September 24, 2008 01:33 PMThe Senate and House have to figure this crisis out. We have two Senators running for office and they both need to be in DC talking to every financial advisor they can get their hands on. They have a bill to vote on. A bill that Obama says will mean he can't fulfill campaign promises. He'd better make sure this bill is airtight and correct.
You'll get your debate. The election wasn't postponed.
yes, jmac-
because some people can't do two things at once, particularly when the pressure's on. got it.
Posted by Turkana at September 24, 2008 02:33 PMHey, Turkana. I watched the Democratic debates. I know exactly what Obama can do.
Posted by jmac at September 24, 2008 04:13 PMUnderstand that the role of jmac, peter, mary, etc is the same as the mythical "tokyo rose". To demoralize us.
We know they are full of shit. We know that they hold double standards. But they have an effect.
It's not honest debate -- there is nothing honest about them.
Delete their posts. Delete them now.
Posted by Anonny at September 24, 2008 04:40 PMI bet to differ with you, Turkana. I think McCain's actions play well in the media. Isnt it always the loser who pushes for debate? Wasnt that what all the Obama primary supporters said about Clinton? How come suddenly pushing for a debate is the winning hand now?
Mccain did a clever thing - he gets a point. Whoop dee doodoo. Move on.
Posted by the young Judith (tyj) at September 24, 2008 04:44 PMtyj,
he's backing out of an already planned debate. big difference. he's afraid to let the american people see him discuss the issue.
Posted by Turkana at September 24, 2008 04:59 PMyes, jmac-
you watched obama debate other intelligent people. you're afraid to watch him debate mccain.
Posted by Turkana at September 24, 2008 05:00 PMturkana - he is saying that a debate on teevee takes backseat to the economic deathspiral going on. And I think he is right.
Havent you learned yet that it doesnt matter who smart people think makes the better points or knows who has a clue and who doesnt in a debate? 2004 anybody?
Posted by the young Judith (tyj) at September 24, 2008 05:23 PMmeant to add...and the fact that it is planned is meaningless - imo.
On the important things we agree - but I think this one is just more noise - like a fart in the midst of a barnfire.
Posted by the young Judith (tyj) at September 24, 2008 05:25 PMObama and McCain will debate. But as of now, I believe Obama is leaving his hidey-hole in Florida to wing his way to DC. Maybe he'll have an opinion he can share. He can always fall back on Hillary's statements and just say "ditto" like he did in the primary.
Not sure his Reagan economic advisors or his trade advisors (the ones that said don't listen to what he says in the primary debates) will be happy.
Posted by jmac at September 24, 2008 06:58 PMbut I think this one is just more noise - like a fart in the midst of a barnfire.
Cuz the fart is insignificant while the barn is burning? It's a colorful analogy, I'm just not sure I follow you.
turkana - he is saying that a debate on teevee takes backseat to the economic deathspiral going on. And I think he is right.
But he's not just saying that, delightful young judith. He's saying the whole campaign should take a back seat to the "crisis", which has now been upgraded to "deathspiral".
McCain doesn't know how to fix the economy any better than I do. He's running out the clock. And when he got caught looking like a douche bag, Bush covered for him.
Everybody knows when you put those two guys on stage together, it's all gonna become very clear who's fit to be president and who's fit to shit himself on stage.
