Comments: Bulgaria 21 : USA 3

Why is "Russia" followed by "USSR" in brackets, in the table? That would imply that the reference is to all the countries which constituted the former USSR. Is that the case?

Good question Colin. I think the most complete answer could be had by looking at the IMO website tables of competitors. I think it indicates continuity of the national team through political changes, in contrast to, say, the Yugoslavian team v. the Serbia & Montenegro team.
