Comments: Declining Oil Prices Not a Good Thing

Here you go, paradox. This scooter is for you!

Heh, thanks, but that's a trike, not a scooter.

I want it to run errands, I often like to grocery shop every day and I'm tired of burning oil to do it. Those little electric scooters are a dream, and so quiet.

Holy Schnikes!! That's a sweet ride.

I know a guy in L.A. who went with solar roofs. Apparently the power is stored in batteries in your basement that you replace and recharge now and then.

He's still connected to the grid, but his house ADDS more to the grid than it detracts, so he gets a refund check from the power company most months.

He also converted his cars to run on vegetable oil. Smells like McDonald's fries every time he fires it up.

The PollyAnna in me wants to see elect scooters bring a little slower lifestyle to our shores. 125 mph...damn.
Sis has been off the grid for 5 years on solar & wind. Neighbors hate it in Dec when there's a power outage and she's the only one with Xmas lights up and going. When I grumble that her outside solar lights aren't strong enough she reminds me that her lights are there to tell you where you are, not where you're going cause that's my responsibility.

Yeah, but it's cool! Are you looking at the Vectrix? Hella cool, too! There is a guy here with a small electric scooter that looks like the old Honda 50. Pretty neat!

I sincerely hope you look into powering it by solar. I want to do some solar projects around the house to prepare myself for an eventual conversion. MaskedV points to a problem in my state in that the utility doesn't buy excess production. They'll take all I can generate but I get nothing for it. So my concern is how to best store energy and keep it from the grid in the first place.

"The internal combustion gasoline engine sucks,"

...I find that it sucks alot more with an Eaton supercharger on it. And, according to Blondie it sounds like "when you get your teeth cleaned at the dentist".

They will have to pry my Red F-150 supercharged SVT Lightning from my superglued cold dead ass.

Before you ban me for gasoline gluttony, oh temporary all powerful one, please consider that I only drive 2500 miles a year.

people who drive 2500 miles/year are so not the problem, whatever their mpg. IMO.

If you had told me 3 months ago that I'd be buying gas again for $2.54 a gallon..I'd laughed you out of the room. But now it's true. That means several things: First, General Motors, Ford and the Corporate Heads of the major Automobile mfgrs didn't know any more than I did about the Oil situation..that in itself is scary. Second, there was no actual real reason the gas price go so high- it was fake, a gouge if you will. Third, unlike all the recent elections when gas prices magically dropped right at election time, this drop won't have any effect at the ballot box.

We're at $2.15/gal. It's a nice bonus, but I would just as soon it be nationalized and pay $4.00-$6.00 a gallon and I get no-cost health care for it.

Say...I can't get the site to come up. Damn McCain/Palin Turrists! Have they no honor?!

May I take the liberty to inform you, kind sir, that an Abrahms battle tank requires 11 gallons of petro to traverse 1 mile.

2500 * 11 * $4 = $110,000.00
Our tax dollars at work.

I'll put it to y'all that people used oil prices to hedge the dollar along with the Euro. You'll remember they both went up and fell at about the same time. All this happened after the Fed dropped the rate to 2.00. Seems the EUC should have followed suit but didn't. They allowed this rise in oil along with the Euro.
