posting better late than never...it looks good. When one candidate draws 100,000 while the other is working Assisted Living Apartments for 100...I think we are moving in the right direction.

Posted by dk at October 26, 2008 06:03 PMThere's more than GOTV. There's control of the news cycle for the next seven days. And there's Obama's 30-minute TV show on Wednesday, which may help with controlling the news cycle.
What are we expecting on Wednesday?
Something like a Bob Costas-style Olympic biography with the slo-mo moments, the candidate framed by a rising sun on a hilltop somewhere, the John Williams soundtrack?
Obama talking with a bunch of flags? Something like a repeat and update of the convention speech?
Or something more focused and germane to the events of the last month?
Does anyone have any solid or not-so-solid information on the show?
Posted by James E. Powell at October 26, 2008 06:13 PMI know we expect a tightening of the polls based on historical data, but somehow I can't seen it this year. This election is different in many ways, and I'm thinking that a) Obama's pool of voters is more solid than usual for a candidate at this point (something that Rasmussen detects in their data) and b) the undecideds will likely swing toward the change candidate as we get to the finish.
The only really open questions at this point involve turnout and vote caging/counting shenanigans. And those we won't know the answer to until election day.
Posted by Anonny at October 26, 2008 07:59 PMI was really proud to hear Obama give a shout out to my U.S. Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva in the Denver speech today. He's been traveling with Obama.
I've met him before, after I told him I was disabled Veteran he gave me this big bear hug. He's a true Progressive. We need more like him.
I hope this is a sign Obama's willing to listen to a more Liberal agenda.
The local news here in AZ had a special on the AZ State poll coming out. The professor was adamant they do not have a way to gauge the cell phone vote. This is an unknown variable he claimed.
He says that the youth turnout would be important (like we didn't know this already) but he was speaking to low information news watchers.

He does that everywhere. Takes the time to learn who the local politicians are, what they are about, and what kind of assistance they could use from him.
It's called building bridges. Something Rove/Delay/Gingrich never understood -- they used exclusively threat tactics to keep the votes in line.
Posted by Anonny at October 26, 2008 09:01 PMWell, if McCain doesn't stop saying, with conviction, that he will win the election, I am going to get very suspicious. Seems another President was sure of his win too in 2000 and 2004.
