That the Unites States does not have viable trains is a national disgrace,

Just want to point out that our (US/Canada) freight rail system is perhaps the best in the world -- certainly beating out the European's disjointed, money-losing labyrinth. We suck the hairy wazoo in terms of passenger rail (eastern corridor obviously excepted), but freight is strong and getting stronger.
