Glad to see you post again eRiposte.
I'll be back later with some comments.
And if not, you have a great Holiday Season as well.
Posted by Seven of Six at November 13, 2008 10:14 AMWell I see I got a response to my email. Very nice to read you again. Many good points made here Eri. You're a good person, even when you support Obama. Have a nice season and see you in the new year!
Nice to see the opposition knows many lines were crossed this cycle and many 'unacceptable' behaviors were accepted.
Posted by peter at November 13, 2008 10:42 AM"many 'unacceptable' behaviors were accepted."
...You have committed acts of treason against America and President-elect Obama and are on the list to be rounded up on Jan 21st. I suggest building a secret room in your mother's basement.
I know--next thing you know they'll be falsely accusing politicians of directing obscene gestures at Hillary Clinton and whining over unpresidential 'body movements.'
And, yes, clearly Sarah Palin's sky-high approval ratings indicate that the leftblogs utterly failed in discrediting her.
Posted by Geek, Esq. at November 13, 2008 11:28 AMDon't flatter yourself, petey, you just aren't that important, and I'm sure eriposte can see through your attempt at instigating some more interparty angst with your undoubtedly smarmy email. Shouldn't you be out campaigning for Not-Joe the Not Plumber? Maybe you can be a roadie for his new country band. *snicker*
Eriposte, always nice to see you, and thanks again for your hard work during the primary. I look forward to seeing you in the new year. Have a nice holiday season!
Geek, the primary's over, time to get over it.
Posted by iamcoyote at November 13, 2008 11:45 AMYes, Eri. I said the same thing when I voted for Hillary Clinton in the Potomac Primary--that it would be the only chance in my lifetime to vote for a woman for president. I was happy to vote for Obama last week, but I still wish I could have lived long enough to see a woman president--a progressive woman, that is, not a Palin-type. But now that I'm in the "sunset" years, I doubt I ever will.
Posted by Neferhuri at November 13, 2008 12:17 PMGeek,
Didn't read your link, but Obama gave Hillary the finger. Surely, just because he has been elected President doesn't mean that we have to whitewash history.
enuff sarah references already!!! her fifteen minutes are lasting wayyy longer than necessary. let her fcukin run in 2012. the repubs are infamous for eating their own. she won't last the primary season. her whackjob seance witchcraft blessing will be posted all over the place. billybob todd's associations with aip will get blasted 24/7. they will question why a sitting governor spoke at a convention advocating the removal of one of old glory's stars. they will question the faaaarrr right leaning church she attends. as well as her view that men walked with dinosaurs. not to mention question where the rest of her $150000+ wardrobe is. does todd have to give his new threads back? what about piper's louie v? what about the redneck beau who got her daughter knocked up? does he give his new kicks back also???
yes dammit, i say let her run. she will get vetted alright, by the romney's and the huckabee's and whoever else decides to crawl out of the woodwork. too many of mainstream america sits in the middle, believes in science, and thinks ak should remain in the union. so, let her run. she got a free pass this time, but in 2012, the repubs (who basically blame her for losing their election) will make sure the thrilla from wasilla remains in podunk ak where she belongs. s. palin is the poster child for the ignorance is bliss platform. america is not center right. we are exhibiting more common sense than the right gives us credit for, the only success gwb has in eight years is that the electorate is smarter than the average moose hunter. and her as a senator? she'd be the laughing stock of the party. every dem running would put up her pic and say vote for me, i need to crack more moose jokes...
run sarah run!!! (in my best forrest gump imitation)
btw...
the papers in spain, england, gilbraltar, had obama posted all over the place nov 5th. can't really say a repub could garner the world's respect in less than 12 hours after winning an election; can you think of one? wow, the crickets are deafening...
oh, and geek, her ratings are high on the right, nationally, which includes everybody she is and always will be a joke. name one poll that doesn't lean to the right that has her over a 50% approval rating.
Posted by anthony at November 13, 2008 12:24 PMit seems i'm not the only one, excerpt from the huff po...
Sarah Palin will never be president because the right wing of the Republican Party has perfected the art of believing their own bullshit, starting with the idea that is-Africa-a-country-or-a-continent?-Palin has a future. Palin and her fans don't know it yet, but having reduced itself to a grim angry joke, the Republican Party has also divorced itself from American politics and, along with that dirty used Band-Aid, is destined for the garbage can.
What's the best defense against the rube/Palin voters derailing the Republican Party forever? If the statistics of who voted for whom are correct, the education of white people in the deep South and their economic empowerment is the best answer. Maybe it will take a black Democratic president to figure out some affirmative action program that can get our southern born-again white underclass into colleges and thereby save the Republican party.

"Nice to see the opposition knows many lines were crossed this cycle and many 'unacceptable' behaviors were accepted."
Yes, while the opposition, the Party of Lee Atwater and Karl Rove continues with no realizations of their vile behavior, or if realized, could care less.
Posted by Judith at November 13, 2008 12:34 PMHow thrilling it is to have eriposte back, telling us that he is "very much an Obama supporter", conveniently whitewashing the fact that he spent all winter and spring calling Obama a liar, cheat, and fraud. And how thrilling it is to have him linking to like-minded individuals who referred to Obama supporters as cultists all winter and spring, temporarily adopted a civil tone during the general-election campaign, but are now back to flogging the "cult" meme.
Pathetic.
great to see you back, eriposte. at some point, i will be writing more, too. and policy critics will be essential, in the coming years. to keep the democrats honest. to keep people focused on aiming higher than public officials usually do. and to help keep the relevance of the blogs alive, as so many degenerate into typical traditional media outlets.
we made history and won some big prizes, on the 4th; but the battle has only begun.
Posted by Turkana at November 13, 2008 01:52 PMThe last thing this country needs is more Obama sycophants. Barack is already under pressure from Broderville to scale back on all his promises. A little scrutiny from the left is in order. (And Obama did give Clinton the finger. My opinion, and I'm stuck with it.)
Posted by cygnus at November 13, 2008 01:58 PMEriposte, if you nail the problems our nation is facing as effectively as you nailed some of the WMD issues, you'll be moving the progressive agenda forward.
One of the problems of the last eight years was how hard it was to have a rational discussion about anything. There's nothing abstract about the problems we're now facing. Many problems are now biting Americans in the wallet and they're biting into our future. There's plenty of good evidence that even global warming is already causing problems so that it too is no longer the abstraction that it was ten years ago. The more Americans understand where we're at, the more we'll see a progressive agenda because there really isn't an alternative.
I look forward to your posting.
Posted by Craig at November 13, 2008 02:24 PMGlad to see you eRi and now even turkana!! Hope you both stick around a bit. And as usual and on cue the eRi stalkers are back...don't you both have a life...as iamcoyote sez...get over it... most here who didn't actively support him but voted for him are relieved that he bested McSame. Just remember your guy won....please just get.over.it and please just grow up. It's so obvious neither of you has ever heard of (never mind ever practiced) being gracious in victory. But also and more importantly that neither of you has anything better to do than to stalk eRi...you're both getting close to being up there with that misogynist loon that stalked iamcoyote here for awhile....and that was one really wacked dude (who hopefully is getting some major help).
Anyway looking forward to having some appearances by eRi and Turkana. And also, I wish to extend holiday greetings and warmth to you both.
I decided to support Obama last spring, and disliked being called a cultist, a Koolaid drinker, or in eriposte's latest version, one of "those who continue a fact-free, smear-filled approach to politics."
If disliking insults and pointing out the repeated setting up on straw men makes me an eriposte stalker, then guilty as charged.
Posted by at November 13, 2008 02:45 PMDidn't read your link, but Obama gave Hillary the finger.
Ah yes, one of the shibolleths/myths of the PUMA movement--part of a canon that includes Obama playing misogynistic rap songs at victory parties, referring to Hillary as the crud one scrapes off one's shoes, running the most vile, misogynistic, and race-baiting campaign in the history of the Democratic party, stealing the nomination, disenfranchising millions of people, and at one time or another telling GLBT folks, women, the elderly, and union members that they were not welcome in the Democratic party.
As far as the cleaning house, given Eriposte's failure to lift a single freaking finger or type a syllable in order to help defeat the Republicans this fall, one can only assume that this isn't about promoting civic virtue but rather rehashing old primary grudges against bloggers who sided with the victor.
As such, all one can do is congratulate him on the considerable moral courage it took to declare himself a supporter of Barack Obama after Obama won a resounding mandate in the general election.
Posted by Geek, Esq. at November 13, 2008 03:06 PMbut rather rehashing old primary grudges
Still having trouble with that pot/kettle dichotomy, eh, Geek? Come on, get over it. Your guy won. Now he's our guy. If I wanted to do so, I could find a bunch of stuff you posted last spring that was demonstrably false and divisive, and sexist, too, I'll bet, but I don't give a shit. If Obama can publicly say he holds no grudges against Joe Fucking Lieberman so we can move on to the important business, maybe you can find it in your heart to get over your own boo-boos, eh? Thanks.
emal, love ya! So glad to see you regularly again!
Posted by iamcoyote at November 13, 2008 03:22 PMIf disliking insults and pointing out the repeated setting up on straw men makes me an eriposte stalker, then guilty as charged.
Ummm, no...it'd more be like say the continued holding of grudges and rehashing of something that has been over for months despite the supporter of the losing candidate graciously congratulating the victor/victor's supporters as well as voting for the eventual victor. Plus it'd be the demand for purity. It'd be the petty vengeful, spiteful, and vindictive nature of said commentary not only directed at the losing candidate but the earlier supporters of said losing candidate...you know the only type of commentary ever really offered here.
Yup, just behavior that I'd expect to see coming from the fanatical republicon side of the political spectrum.
Anyway thanks for continuing to prove my point. Yes, please enjoy wallowing in your self pity over your candidate's victory.

Rumor has it that Obama offered Secretary of State to Hillary. The Hillary people "have no comment."
Posted by Judith at November 13, 2008 03:43 PMcoyote, speaking of Clinton...I see that War and Piece has a post (with link) mentioning the possibility of Hillary for SOS being floated. (I see Judith just flagged it as I was previewing)
Now me being the cynical skeptic that I am, I'm a wait and see type of person and won't believe it til I see it. But no doubt this will send some purist into outrage mode....Oops wait.... what's that sound..oh never mind...it's not Dick Cheney's house, it's just some heads exploding in the blogosphere.
Posted by emal at November 13, 2008 03:49 PMSpeaking of Cheney's house, emal, has Biden and his wife come out yet? Has anyone seen them since they went in? Better check it out.
As for the Hillary as SoS rumor, I get the feeling that there are a lot of trial balloons going up and that may be one of them. Digby had a cool little post about all the handwringing of possible picks, saying that that's what's supposed to happen, that's what trial balloons are for. Made a lot of sense to me.
Posted by iamcoyote at November 13, 2008 04:29 PMGlad to see both eriposte and Turkana make appearances.
eRiposte, Sorry about your friends at No Quarter going off the deep end. Larry's let the inmates run his site.
Will Obama open up the possibility of the Wilson's working in his Administration?
Posted by Seven of Six at November 13, 2008 08:24 PMEmal, Iamcoyote, Turkana, SoS, etc.... - nice to hear from you!
SoS,
I have nothing to do with No Quarter - so I'm not exactly sure why you would make a claim that "your friends at No Quarter going off the deep end".
As for the Wilsons, I think Obama would benefit significantly from having one or both of them in his administration. As to whether or not he will reach out to them --- I have no idea.
Posted by eriposte at November 14, 2008 07:35 AMNow, I've made no secret of the fact that the behavior of some "progressive" bloggers was worse than pathetic during the Democratic primary.
Posted by phidipides at November 14, 2008 08:29 AMGeek,
The video of Obama giving Hillary the finger was perfectly clear. In fact, he was cheered by the left blogosphere (MY, for example) for the slick way he carried this off.
The record speaks for itself---including your record of lies and distortions from the primary.
SoS, I'm pretty sure that eriposte never linked to No Quarter during those dark days, though I could be wrong.
I'll take a guess and say that StopLyingGeek is prolly MarkL - come on, Mark. Get over it. Really. You've embarrassed yourself all over the blogs. It's just sad.
I was for Hillary during the primaries, as many know, but the fookin' "gave Hillary the finger" thing had to be the silliest accusation evah. Really, who cared? Now that I've given Obama a chance, and like him, and like his oblique sense of humor, it's possible he did do it. And you know what? As much as I love Hillary, I think it's funny! But what's funnier pumas are still whining about it. It's done, it's over, find a new obsession, guys!
Posted by iamcoyote at November 14, 2008 09:08 AMSorry eriposte - your posts during the primary season remain on the permanent record. They do not wear well, and you apparently have no regrets whatsoever about how you acted. You pop up after the election to defend Sarah Palin, with vague claims about how progressives were oh-so-unfairly mean to her. And nasty pot-shots at Josh Marshall. You apparently learned nothing in your blogging absence and it shows.
I think that your reflexive fixation on gender has tragically warped your perspective and the Palin comments in your post show it. Those outside the funhouse look at Palin as an appalling candidate in all areas - utterly unqualified, deeply dishonest, reckless, divisive, extreme, and proudly ignorant. You see a woman wronged. You assume bad motives on the part of her critics just as you assumed, repeatedly, bad motives on the part of Clinton critics.
I was concerned when I wrote the above that I was being too harsh, but I followed through some of your links and decided that I wasn't being hard enough. Here is a comment from a link you gave about those projecting fanatasies, apparently in agreement with the linked post:
------------------------------------
You know what I’m talking about, of course: the tendency to attribute to Obama any and all qualities deemed desirable by the fantasist. Thus we have Obama the Pacifist (despite the fact that, in reality, Obama supports a “strong military” and has promised to invade our allies if necessary), Obama the Feminist (despite the fact that, in reality, Obama is personally sexist and ran an explicitly misogynistic smear campaign against his two female opponents), Obama the Lightworker (despite the fact that, in reality, Obama is a Chicago machine politician whose campaign was so dirty and corrupt it reminded long-time Democrats of Nixon and Rove), Obama the Gay Rights Advocate (despite the fact that, in reality, Obama opposes same-sex marriage and chose to associate his campaign with Donnie McClurkin), and so on.
------------------------------------
If this is the quality of your contributions, and the sort of material that you approve of, then you have nothing but hate to give and you will be treated accordingly.
I see there still are a few stalkers out there. Shame, I'd gladly have Eri work for my side if he would. The guy's very thorough and detailed. I doubt he could be brought over to the the right side of the political spectrum. To team him up with DJ Drummond and Jayson Javitz over at Wizbang would be awesome. Keep this up stalkers and you'd be losing a valuable writer for nothing but your vanity.
Posted by peter at November 14, 2008 08:41 PMMarc,
I guess we will have to disagree on Josh Marshall and on Palin because I see the reality to be far more gray than you.
One clarification - I've said this before and I should say it again. I don't agree with everything that is stated in every post I link to. If I stop linking to people based on disagreement with something said in each post I link to, then there wouldn't be much left to link. At the same time, I certainly *don't have the time* to elucidate in every post all the comments that I disagree with in every post I'm linking to.
My link to Violet was to highlight the need to make sure we don't get carried away in our views about any candidate. Both during the primary and the general election, I have written about or observed many Obama supporters make claims about their candidate that strongly differed from reality - and my link was to highlight what supporters need to do - it was not intended to say that I completely agree with Violet's characterization of Obama - which I don't. I have personally never claimed that Obama is "personally sexist or ran an explicitly misogynistic campaign" but I have written about some of his comments that *bordered* on sexism since it was a point of concern to me **at that time**. That said, I did believe and do believe that Obama would be far better for women than the Republicans - and this is one of the many reasons I supported him in the GE and continue to support him now. So, I disagree with Violet's strong words but my point was to highlight the general issue of needing to base our perceptions of our candidates on what they actually did or plan to do.
