The armed forces are gearing up for the "Great Troll Roundup" on Jan 21.
The razor wire went up on camp Phoenix today. Finally Peter has a REAL reason to wet his bed.

I'm flattered Tiki. I'm sleeping very soundly thank you very much. Why not, I've got Obama watching over me. No excuses now.
Deacon, you have some good friends. Sure, something is up, and I'm sure the President-elect is in the loop. I'm aware of some cities trying to ramp up their police and swat ranks. You won't see that old color coded security level guide in use this time, or at least not see it publicized. Anyhow, time to be prepared.
Posted by peter at November 17, 2008 08:44 PMDamn, Tiki leave that bed wetter petie, dead and buried like the rest of the repuke scum..you can't invoke the name of the walking dead..
Posted by headxray at November 17, 2008 09:01 PMA guy who was working on camp Phoenix told me they put Bibles and American flag prayer rugs in the foot lockers, and plastic sheets on the bunks.
Be afraid, Peter, be very afraid.
Posted by TIKI AL at November 17, 2008 09:05 PMAny ideas on what is up? Bush being in office until January doesn't make me feel very secure.
Posted by Judith at November 17, 2008 10:10 PMAll I can say is that it would suck to ETS (Experation Term of Service). Go to reserve status, then be called up immediately to an unfamiliar unit.
Why didn't they just stop-loss them from active duty?
Hey Tiki, did you ever think they might be for all those far lefter's that President Obama's about to disappoint? Or, being in the Arizona area, something about ICE?
Posted by peter at November 18, 2008 03:33 AMStealing three trillion in a month was so fun and easy .. now for some more terra on the way out the door.
Posted by Sharkbabe at November 18, 2008 06:10 AMCiti got an huge capital injection of $25 billion under the Bailout, but apparently hoped for more like $70 billion under Paulson's now abandoned "troubled assets" scheme. ces la vie, Citi.....try not to be bitter.
I've read that not many analysts see Citi surviving in its present mega-form, a victim of its management's massive greed and incompetence. How big will their bonuses be this year?
As for the mysterious call ups, well, the only possible major action left to Cheney is his beloved nuclear attack on Iran, which I've been a Cassandra-stooge for for the past two years. And I won't stop waitin' for it until the plane taking Bush back to the pig ranch lifts off on Jan 20. So sue me.
Posted by euzoius at November 18, 2008 06:36 AMWell, we all better be concerned because this insane would be Dictator and his Puppet Master still have the power and the will. Someone needs to find out what the hell is going on and expose it NOW.
Posted by Judith at November 18, 2008 06:47 AMIran attack - the Myth That Never Dies! Aieeeee!
Deacon, from what I can gather, the latest call up was scheduled a while back, though it's all insider shit. 'Course the word came down on Veteran's Day; one of those ironical coincidences, I'm sure. Anecdotal evidence, especially from military members used to such ironies, is to be taken with a grain of salt. But hyperventilate away - we don't have anything else important to think about, do we?
Posted by iamcoyote at November 18, 2008 08:55 AMThe whole world is presently Cheney's lame duck free fire zone. He's shot the world in the face with zero consequences. Why not more more more?
Posted by Sharkbabe at November 18, 2008 12:04 PMAll three of them got call-up orders over this weekend.
We don't know where they are in the cycle -- sounds like an anecdote masquerading as data.
However, consider these possibilities:
1) Planned call ups were deferred after the election in hopes of helping McPain.
2) George W Bush is planning to give Obama a "gift", in much the same way his dad gave Clinton the gift of Somalia.
3) Pure coincidence -- this is only 3 people.
4) Concern over domestic security due to all the death threats from people who share peter's political views.
Posted by Anonny at November 18, 2008 04:40 PMYou might want to read the details on that Citi announcement, as most of these won't be from layoffs. -
"half the cuts are expected to come from selling off parts of the business... The rest of the cuts are expected to come from layoffs and attrition."
So they came up with a big number to impress the stock market - who weren't.
