There is sooooo much that needs to be done to attempt to "fix" these past eight years. I am glad our newly elected Pres. will be willing to move ahead with these tough choices. Yet the USA public needs to realize that all of these changes are going to come with a cost. When that cost starts affecting the "pocket book" and/or the living style of "Joe-Six-Pack" those favorable ratings are likely to S_I_N_K -- meaning he will have tougher times getting other changes through. It will be interesting to see, but the majority of the country is really only concerned about one thing right now and that is the economy. Without, a major effort to get that turned around .... I am afraid he will lose that support that got him elected.

Anyone want to comment on the Auto Bailout being discussed? I am torn, on one hand I say let them go ... they chose to ignore the trend for people wanting better mileage (in fact one like GM -- discontinued the VOLT(sp?)) so they should reap the costs of the free market system (in other words "supply and demand") So if there is no demand for your product - there is no need for your supply.
On the other hand, I must admit, their failure will cause so much trouble and heart-ache for this country - it might be better to try to do something about it.
But if something is done -- they BETTER put some "strings on" -- none of this shareholder protection (dividens), or management bonuses ... it needs to go directly into re-tooling and re-design to bring about a needed change in their supply.

The automaker CEOs have blown all credibility by flaunting their excesses on the way to beg for charity. They should be told to go back and get their house in order!
