Pleeeeeeeease let Franken win this one!
Posted by paradox at November 19, 2008 02:14 PMGosh, I want Franken in there. It's gotta happen. Did anyone see on one of the Stupid Shows featuring talking headlice - they showed an old Franken and Davis bit with them in speedos? I guess it hadda happen, eh?

...hey, someone had to do it.
Posted by TIKI AL at November 19, 2008 02:41 PMBut do enough people like him?
Posted by CA Pol Junkie at November 19, 2008 03:19 PMAlmost, CAPJ, almost...
Posted by iamcoyote at November 19, 2008 03:28 PMCAPJ - howd ya swing 294 votes in 53 minutes? I like those projections. Your majick spreadsheet is a euphemism, isn't it?!
Posted by Anjha at November 19, 2008 03:39 PMOK, "He's Good Enough, He's Smart Enough, and Doggone It, 50.01% of the People Like Him!"
...Anything else? Want the blog moved a few feet to the left, too? Sheesh!
Posted by TIKI AL at November 19, 2008 03:54 PMAnjha, with so few precincts counted so far, a couple anomalous results (which are frequent in recounts) can skew the projection quite a bit. Expect the projections to keep wobbling up and down for a while before eventually zeroing in on the final result.
Posted by CA Pol Junkie at November 19, 2008 04:22 PMSt. Louis County had a problem with older machinery not recording votes. A few precincts there gave Franken a net gain of 28 votes.
Posted by CA Pol Junkie at November 19, 2008 04:57 PMThank you so much for this, CAPJ!

Oh Ya. I expect the projections. Keep talkin, baby. The final result ought to be good.
See, I told ya that "Majick Spreadheet" was a euphemism.
We still have only 5% of Hennepin (Minneapolis) reporting, so projection for that county has significant error.
The challenge rate also I think is a benefit to Franken. So far, Coleman has challenged 146 ballots to Franken's 123. I think these are mostly cases where the county says they are for the other candidate, and instead of accepting the ballot it is challenged to the State Canvassing Board. Challenged ballots are not part of the total right now, which is why the total vote count for both candidates has gone down. At this rate, Coleman will have 128 more challenges than Franken which will provide Franken extra chances to get more votes.
