"One rule would allow coal companies to dump rock and dirt from mountaintop mining operations into nearby streams and valleys. Another, issued last week by the Health and Human Services Department, gives states sweeping authority to charge higher co-payments for doctor’s visits, hospital care and prescription drugs provided to low-income people under Medicaid. The department is working on another rule to protect health care workers who refuse to perform abortions or other procedures on religious or moral grounds."

Once a prick, always a prick. This man truly hates 'The inferiors.' In a Country where the poor can't afford food or heat to warm themselves and feed their children, this prick gives the states the right to raise their Medicaid payments. Protect workers? Not if it means less money in the pockets of the executives and CEOs. Abortion rights? You can't have abortion rights if people refuse to perform the procedure. Either it is a law or it isn't a law, and your opinion on the law is of no importance. One thing about this motherfucker is his consistency all the way until the bitter end.

The new "on the way out" Bush rule that really upset me is that everyone is required by law to register as a republican.

I guess he figured out it was the only possible way the disgraced pathetic GOP could make a comeback.

TIKI, I would rather face a firing squad.

On Friday, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) introduced H.Res. 1531 urging President Bush not to pardon senior administration officials for crimes the President authorized. It notes:

President George W. Bush may have committed crimes involving the mistreatment of detainees, the extraordinary rendition of individuals to countries known to engage in torture, illegal surveillance of United States citizens, unlawful leaks of classified information, obstruction of justice, political interference with the conduct of the Justice Department, and other illegal acts

and that

Bush has been urged to grant preemptive pardons to senior administration officials who might face criminal prosecution for actions taken in the course of their official duties

Nadler's resolution urges Congress to investigate those crimes and any pardons relating to them, and urges the Attorney General (current or future) to appoint an Independent Counsel to prosecute those crimes.

These are major steps towards holding George Bush, Dick Cheney, and other senior officials accountable for their crimes and thereby upholding the rule of law, rather than allowing Presidents to become dictators.

Rep. Nadler's leadership is crucial because he chairs the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties and can use his credibility and clout to move the resolution forward either during the lame duck session in December or when the next Congress convenes on January 6.

So our next step is to persuade as many Representatives as possible to co-sponsor H.Res. 1531.

Please sign our new petition:

We also encourage you to call your Representative at 202-224-3121 and speak with the Legislative Assistant who handles Judiciary matters.

If your Representative says (s)he will co-sponsor, please let us know by commenting on our resolution "whipping" page:

For the bitter-always-lookin'-backward! crowd, the AP has a lengthy article up today entitled "US diluted loan rules before crash". It should be read, maybe even by people called "Congressmen"...

Amazingly, worthless parasitical red-tape pencil-pushing bureacrats in the various bank regulating agencies had spotted that the fake mortgages were highly risky by early 2005, and had proposed new rules to address EVERY problem that subsequently arose, but the Bushco political appointees seemed to cater to the (non-regulatin' free marketin') wishes of the banks and mortgage lenders instead, and amazingly the Unitary Executive (tm) couldn't get all his bank regulating agencies to agree, so no effective rules were proposed, despite the known risk (in 2005!)

But No One Could Have Predicted [insert catastrophe here], etc, etc.....

And probably its last. I really thought it was some sort of joke.

Tanta, financial blogger extraordinaire at Calculated Risk passed away. I did not know her, but I always learned from her posts, even when they were above my head.
RIP

If Nero jr is receiving something called a "medal of peace", it must be a joke, either on him or the organization itself is a joke.

Posted by euzoius at December 1, 2008 08:28 AM

The Bush award IS a joke. It comes from Saddelback Pastor Rick Warren who is a batshit crazy "laughing all the way to the bank" megagodbot.

And speaking of lame jokes, Joe the Plumber's book, "Fighting For The Mercun Dream" came out today, and Palin is "fighting the good fight" campaigning in Georgia today.

The more they're out there, the less relevant and the more ridiculous the republican party becomes.

What's Joe the (unlicensed) Plumb-brain's Mercun Dream---serial lawbreaking by the Little Man as well as the Wealthy Man?

As the lib'rul Media keeps their cameras rolling on these wingnut shits......

I see that the NBER has declared that the Repub Recession officially commenced in Dec '07, as was predicted here many times.....demonic lib'ruls were right again, so make sure they never get on TV.

Remember how Clinton's rules on Arsenic were discarded in February after Bush's inauguration? We comes around goes around...these rules are toast. Doesn't make them any less disgusting but certainly nothing effective.
