The media is at it again--trying to make a story where there isn't one. Will Clinton and Obama get along! Burying the hatchet! Rivals in the cabinet! WTF? It's not like they ever hated each other. They agree on most things. She campaigned for him for months. They "buried the hatchet" long ago.

Posted by CG at December 2, 2008 06:26 AM

And Barack Obama will reward Michelle with a $30,000 ring for her allowing him to run for president. An Italian designer is hurriedly trying to get it done by January 20th.

Posted by peter at December 2, 2008 07:35 AM

CG - Yeah, that's why I can't watch tv "news" any more. Of course, they're still not as insane (by much) as the right wing pants pissers, who think the most important thing right now is to hide behind their couches in the terror that Mumbai killers are coming to get 'em. Either that, or they're finding some kind of silly significance in Obama giving his wife a present. 'Course, these guys think women should wear borrowed designer clothes, wink at the camera, and lie like two bit 'hos, so they don't really understand love and honor.

Posted by iamcoyote at December 2, 2008 07:48 AM

CG, you're right, the media's non story of the "team of rivals" is as pathetic as a peter post.

I hope when the Big 3 remake their bailout case they mention that over the past 30 years the states that are home to Toyota, Honda, BMW, Benz, etc. forked out billions in incentives and a workforce consisting of "Deliverance" extras who would "assemble for food".

Posted by TIKI AL at December 2, 2008 07:55 AM

I rewarded my wife with a diamond eternity band for all the love and support she'd given me through ten years of marriage . I'm glad to know we have something in common with the Obamas.

Posted by snark at December 2, 2008 08:02 AM

Aw, snark, that's sweet. My fave gift was the string of pearls from Hong Kong - just gorgeous.

Posted by iamcoyote at December 2, 2008 08:12 AM

Didn't Obama once miss the number of years he's been married?

I thought this wasn't the year of excesses any more. Carmakers taking private jets to DC et. al. I'm sure a $3,000 ring would do just fine by an American designer. It's the thought isn't it? Unemployment going up, people getting foreclosed on, all the 'other' problems in the world. And the President-elect is spending $30,000 on a ring mined in South Africa and made by an Italian designer.

This is the face of 'change'?

Posted by peter at December 2, 2008 08:25 AM

"they're finding some kind of silly significance in Obama giving his wife a present."

The simple logic of a GOP bedwetter:
1. Kobe Bryant plays basketball; Obama plays basketball.
2. Kobe is tall; Barak is tall.
3. Kobe Bryant bought wife an expensive ring; Obama buying wife an expensive ring.
4. Kobe was charged with raping and sodomizing a female hotel employee; Obama must have done something too, or why on earth would he buy his wife a guilt trinket?

Posted by TIKI AL at December 2, 2008 08:34 AM

I think we can all thank our lucky stars that we are not as petty, bitter and conflicted as peter.

I think we can all thank our lucky stars that we are not as petty, bitter and conflicted as peter.

Every goddamn day, man. Every goddamn day.

Posted by iamcoyote at December 2, 2008 08:46 AM

Anyone else remember petey complaining about McCain's private jet sending the wrong signal during tough times? Or him complaining about McCain's $800 shoes? Or Cindy's $300,000 outfit for the RNC? Yep, I thought not.

Posted by iamcoyote at December 2, 2008 08:51 AM

snark, it must just be "tough love", because we know that the trolls have posted that they "want Obama to succeed".

Posted by TIKI AL at December 2, 2008 08:51 AM

Of course Tiki.

"Country First", wasn't it?

Posted by snark at December 2, 2008 08:56 AM

Sen. Mel Martinez of Florida will not seek re-election in 2010.

Posted by snark at December 2, 2008 08:59 AM

More like "party and pocketbook first at all costs". Pull up the ladder, Jack.

Posted by TIKI AL at December 2, 2008 09:01 AM

"Country First", wasn't it?

Riiiight. No one ever believed that, did they? Well, maybe Palin thought it was about her, "country bumpkin" first?

Posted by iamcoyote at December 2, 2008 09:02 AM

'Course, these guys think women should wear borrowed designer clothes, wink at the camera, and lie like two bit 'hos, so they don't really understand love and honor.

Heh. Ain't that the truth.

I wonder how these dickwads, who spend their lives treating women like property - and incubators to do their propagating and bidding - are going to be able to deal with a relationship in the WH that is built on mutual respect and encouraging the very best out of each other by building one another up and supporting those things in each other that make their partner happy...I wonder how they are going to deal with that?

Damn, I wonder how much repression of the actual facts about the Obama's marraige is going to be burried behind some trivial crap like petey's post because they must work very, very hard to make sure that the fundie wives do not find out that there is another way to live.

Shhh, do not tell them that they can be strong and independent and in a loving and supportive relationship. Shhh. Do.not.tell.them.that!

Posted by Anjha at December 2, 2008 09:08 AM

I heard thru the grapevine that Mel Martinez bought his wife an expensive designer ring from Poland. What do you suppose he did?

Posted by TIKI AL at December 2, 2008 09:10 AM

Hey, I'm thrilled he won. Bush III on the horizon. Giving the Lt. Governor in Arizona a promotion is great.

Barack is going to keep all those powers that Bush/Cheney acumulated in the exec branch. Bush's leadership style will only go forth with Obama and I dare say, Barack will be thankful for the previous admins. work.

All is right with the world, excesses included.

Posted by peter at December 2, 2008 09:11 AM

Thank goodness Obama's books are back on the Top Ten best seller list.
Some wingnuts might ask where he gets his money?

Posted by Seven of Six at December 2, 2008 09:16 AM

Arizona doesn't have a Lt. Governor, Professor Brainiac.

Posted by TIKI AL at December 2, 2008 09:17 AM

Shhh, do not tell them that they can be strong and independent and in a loving and supportive relationship.

I have no doubt many of those fundie women voted for Obama without telling their hubbies.

Some wingnuts might ask where he gets his money?

Why ask, when you can make shit up or insinuate malfeasance? Facts just get in the way of fuckwad righties, dontcha know.

Posted by iamcoyote at December 2, 2008 09:21 AM

Arizona doesn't have a Lt. Governor, Professor Brainiac.

See what I mean?

Wish we could get real clowns instead of dumb, unfunny, boring clowns like petey. Maybe if we could get wingnut welfare like that Malkin thingy - of course that would mean giving up truth, compassion and intelligence like they have done. Huh. Guess we'll have to live with the bargain basement idiots until George Soros comes through with the cash.

Posted by iamcoyote at December 2, 2008 09:27 AM

Giving the Lt. Governor in Arizona a promotion is great.

Ahem... we do not have a Lt. Governor.

Barack is going to keep all those powers that Bush/Cheney acumulated in the exec branch. Bush's leadership style will only go forth with Obama and I dare say, Barack will be thankful for the previous admins. work.

Perhaps with new expectations, like... competency, honesty, transparency, efficiency, skill and precision.
You know, working values that the rich know nothing about.

Perhaps with new expectations, like... competency, honesty, transparency, efficiency, skill and precision.

After 8 years without any of those things anywhere near the White House, it's gonna be a whole new world for Obama, won't it? Heehee - and he'll have the wiretaps on all the 'pukes, so he'll know which ones were being serviced by JeffyLube; well, which ones besides Bush, anyhow. That oughta keep the 'pukes in line, eh? When 9 outta 10 'pukes are perverts of one sort or another, it'll be fun to watch the parade of wetsuit- and dildo-sporting Republicans on Olberman next year.

Posted by iamcoyote at December 2, 2008 09:42 AM

Anjha and coyote: speaking of women's rights, there is an artical about forced marriage in Pakistan at Richard Dawkins.net.

I had to add my 2 cents:
12. Comment #295180 by TIKI AL on December 2, 2008 at 12:50 am

I understand this same barbaric custom is still practiced in Wasilla, Alaska, amongst the primitive GOP failed abstinance tribe.

Posted by TIKI AL at December 2, 2008 09:43 AM

You know, working values that the rich know nothing about.

Hey, not all rich people got their wealth through scumbaggery. Let's not lay down blanket shit like that SoS.

Posted by snark at December 2, 2008 09:47 AM

snark's got a point, SoS, though I know what you were getting at.

TIKI - I've never been to the Dawkins site, I might give it a try. Is the Palin/idiot wedding still on? I thought it was a publicity stunt. Why buy the cow, when the milk's free and the parents are too busy trying to further their "careers" (if by "career" you mean sitting around an animal-corpse-strewn-office plotting the next vendetta) to watch what their kids are up to?

Posted by iamcoyote at December 2, 2008 09:53 AM

snark's got a point, SoS, though I know what you were getting at.

You're right coyote and snark, I should have been more clear.

You know, working values that the crony, deceitful, fraudulent, decrepit, dishonest, face-shooting, republi-con, rich know nothing about.

Posted by Seven of Six at December 2, 2008 10:10 AM

A Dawkins virgin? ...kinky! I know they would appreciate your sense of humor there. Although it is based in England, most US laws and schoolboard rules that godbots are trying to sneak in are exposed. It's also interesting to see what the rest of the world thinks of Bush. Please visit.

Last I heard they were planning a summer wedding although the baby is due in late December.

Posted by TIKI AL at December 2, 2008 10:23 AM

Sounds like fun to me, TIKI. Been a long time since I've been a virgin... I've heard there's some kinda surgery you can get to make you one again, but that's too much work for something that doesn't mean anything except for deceitful godbots. I'll check out the Dawkins site.

SoS, you meant, like, the Bushes, eh? That's what I thought.

Posted by iamcoyote at December 2, 2008 10:47 AM

Goddamn Tiki, that's a lot of work finding the right thread...couldn't you have provided a link?

If I can't find it in 3 minutes I am going straight to bed, something I should have done to begin with.

Arnold is looking at state worker layoffs to help with the budget problems in CA.

The biggest problem in CA is too much spending. Especially on education. I think we need to take a sheet of paper and make two columns. In one column, put everyone who works in a classroom. In the other, everyone who doesn't work in a classroom. The folks who work in a classroom are safe. Then evaluate everyone who works outside of the classroom and determine whether or not the job is needed.

The second area is prison spending. I think it's time we look to outsource the housing of inmates. Mexico would be a good place. We could start with a few prisons first and see how it goes, then expand the program over time.

*snicker*

Posted by iamcoyote at December 2, 2008 12:57 PM

Personally, I think we should wall off Manhattan Island and make it a big kill or be killed penitentary.

Posted by snark at December 2, 2008 01:24 PM

I'll be Snake Pliskin!

And, of course, petey's $30,000 ring story is a lie. Guess he never got the memo that Drudge is a hack, eh? We've all known for years, but then, petey thinks Not-Joe the Not-plumber is a god, so his idiocy is not surprising.

Posted by iamcoyote at December 2, 2008 01:29 PM

Sorry, Anjha. I am only halfway thru the instructions on my 1958 Texas Instruments calculator. I do windows but not links.
1. Google Richard Dawkins and click on Richard Dawkins.net
2. Click on "Latest News" on the home page
3. 2nd article down is "Forced to Marry" BBC Dec. 1st

coyote: didja go there? didja? nudge, nudge, wink wink. How was the first time with Richard?

Posted by TIKI AL at December 2, 2008 05:10 PM

The second area is prison spending.

Release prisoners of non-violent offenses, such as marijauna possesion or dealing.

Posted by Seven of Six at December 2, 2008 06:10 PM

Release prisoners of non-violent offenses, such as marijauna possesion or dealing.

Goddamned "War on Drugs" is bullshit. One of the biggest lies ever perpetrated on the poor and minority. Those drug laws need to be scrapped and start over. Most of the folks in jail are in jail due to poverty - not crime. Bastard laws.

And Tiki...I went there, searched around, there were a zillion comments and there was not your number, it was skipped.

I will try again when I feel up to it.

I had to work today - that is way hard on my blogging time. And I am cranky and need a nap.

Remind me when I feel better, Tiki, will ya?

Posted by Anjha at December 2, 2008 06:17 PM

And Tiki, copy and paste are gawd-sends. (Monkey see, monkey do...)
