You know everytime, I hear something new come out about how the banks and wealthy interests in this country just thumb their noses at the common people in this country, I get closer and closer to the conclusion that the time is coming where people are going to finally get so pissed off that we will take to the streets and demand that our laws are to be obeyed by everyone including the wealthy3-5%. If one of us (us being the common people) pulled any of the shit that the rich get away with all the time our country would be nothing but jails. This bullshit is way out of control.
Posted by Chris at December 22, 2008 07:26 PMTime to set laws in place on strict CEO and management payment structures. The greed must stop!! No more fringe anything unless they want to pay taxes on it.
Read a post at DKos today about CEO's in Germany and Japan who only make 17-22 percent more than their workers. Would I love to hear the howling come from those fuckers because they were limited to only 500K in pay. LOL
Time for these automatic raises for our congress-critters to cease as well, every year 4K by law... sheeeet!
Posted by Seven of Six at December 22, 2008 09:11 PMWhy should they be accountable to anyone? Who is going to make them? The American people just got screwed, and they are laughing all the way to the Cayman Islands.
Bush set the tone for Wall Street. Break laws, deceive, manipulate, lie, commit fraud
and dare anyone to hold you accountable. Then add a Congress that likes to talk big when the cameras are on. Did you really believe those banking institutions were going to be grateful that we bailed them out and do the right thing? What idiots we are. Greed is good. Haven't you heard?
You are dreaming if you think that Democrats in congress will go after these crooked bankers. Both Republicans and Democrats in congress are in pockets of these bankers. If not, why did not Pelocy and Reid get tough with these bankers when 700 billions were given to them. However, for mere 14 billion, they got tough with auto companies. Majority of congress is corrupt. It is time for our press to make the case for the people. Let us see if our press is as independant as it is suppose to be in a democracy.
Posted by suresh at December 23, 2008 07:36 AMI still think peaceful civil disobedience with hundreds of thousands or millions in the streets of Washington DC, New York, Chicago, etc. demanding justice be meted out to the rich thieves (also Bush and cohorts and Congress included) who got us into this place is the only thing these bastards will understand. They think we are sleeping sheep. My hope is that we will awake.
Posted by Chris at December 23, 2008 08:00 AMWhy is no one around here holding Pelosi in any way responsible for the TARP mess. She pushed for passage based on the Paulson scare-tale of civil unrest. She was the one responsible for not putting any safeguards into the law.
And, I am sorry to say, those asshole Southern republicans are actually looking good
