Petition away, there's no getting at the behavior of our brutal little buddy. Israel's decades of foot dragging in Gaza and the West Bank and their refusal to accept any Arab elections has resulted in world condemnation, even when it acts in self defense!
We're the only country that defends our lil' ally's actions no matter what, and that won't ever end, as Israel is well aware. This alliance dooms our "war" on terra, strategically, which even our vaunted gen'rals understand.
Israel has lost all credibility and is now hopelessly trapped in a quagmire of violence from which there is no avenue of escape, assuming they even want an "escape", which I frankly doubt.
They are a deeply, permanently and enthusiastically militarist society at this point and such a people cannot exist without endless war, bloodshed, violence and perceived "mortal threats", especially when they (the strong) can inflict devastating harm on the weak with impunity.
So Bombs Away!, no one's stopping you, ever! The last act of Bushco, presiding over (yet another) Isreali bombing campaign in a urban civilian target environment.

Well, of course, it has been foot dragging with a goal, that goal being to continue to build the structures and conduct operations that will eventually make life for Palestinians in their own land so untenable and outright miserable that they will leave.

What "world condemnation"? It is not only the Israelis who have refused to accept the 2006 Palestinian elections. The United States and the EU both collectively punished the Palestinians for their choices by immediately imposing an embargo on Gaza and supporting Israel for two years in whatever atrocities it chose to commit.
Are you suggesting that Israel was acting in self-defense on November 4 when it violated the ceasefire, killing six Palestinians in Gaza, and when it continued to violate the ceasefire until Hamas could no longer stand quietly by, and finally fired back? And are you suggesting that it is acting in self-defense now?

I wish I could agree with you that Israel has lost all credibility. And as for the quagmire of violence, it is entirely of Israel's making, and it is Israel that perpetuates it. Israel will never extricate itself from this quagmire until peace becomes more important to it than its lust for territorial expansion and regional domination.
