Anything going on in the news? Nope, not a thing. At least nothing of any real consequence.
As for the hawks, not to worry. Obama's cabinet and staff are packed with 'em. One of his latest, Admiral Dennis Blair, aided and abetted Indonesia's occupation of East Timor, including the massacre of about one third of the entire population. And then there was the little matter of his support for Indonesia as it tried to squelch the planned democratic elections in the hacking fifty people to death with machetes in a church in Liquica, going into churches, raping nuns and burning their bodies - stuff like that. And apparently his support was in direct opposition to the instructions he was given by the Clinton administration, which were to tell Indonesia to "stop the massacres". Oh - and Blair thinks torture is just fine.
And oh, by the way, for those who are happy about the appointment of Leon Panetta for CIA Director, don't get out the pom poms yet. Blair will be his boss.
So, the hawks have nothing to worry about. It will be business as usual when it comes to foreign policy, though it won't be nearly as brazen as it has been for the last eight years.
Posted by Shirin at January 8, 2009 12:14 AMReid told a reporter that he does not work for Obama, how come he never went toe to toe like this when Bush was in office?
And in other news Sanjay Gupta has been offered the Surgeon General spot. If Michael Moore was able to give him a beat down and show the tv doctor was peddling lies & poison why is Obama appointing such a lying schill for big pharma & the health insurers?
Posted by tenacitus at January 8, 2009 12:38 AMYou know, my expectations of Obama were so low that I did not think he could disappoint me.
I was wrong.
