"I still won’t go to Sunday services but Jesus I’ve got to do something different, it's one of the things on my list." ...may I humbly suggest visiting Richard Dawkins.NET, and clicking on "Latest News".
if you ( the general you) invested with a hedge fund you took your risks - sorry to be nasty, but tough shit. These were greedy people who wanted to invest outside the "normal" channels - that is fine but if it tanks it is not my job to bail you out with my taxes. I will bail out the little guy who got screwed by what was supposed to be a regulated system, not the people who wanted more risk/more reward and ended up on the losing side of the coin toss.
By the way, Obama's tax cut comments were no doubt meant to encourage thise with jobs or wealth to keep money flowing into the economy so retailers dont tank and thus lay off more people. It wasnt and isnt a bad thing to say, though I certainly agree it isnt the only thing he needs to do and I am sure he knows it. The guy has hired all Clinton people including Hillary so I am confident we have the best people coming to the helm shortly.
In the meantime, reduce caffeine intact and do some downward facing dog to keep the fresh flow of oxygen to your brain and you will ne fine the next ten days.

Posted by TIKI AL at January 10, 2009 10:44 AMThe waning days of the Bush administration or the coming days of the Obama one. What difference does it make. Obama is already doing just what Bush was. He is not going to cut defense because we are still fighting two wars. One is winding down but the money spent in Iraq will just be shifted to Afghanistan. He is still bailing out big business. He is doing what Bush did to stimulate the economy only on a larger scale. The biggest part of the stimulus will still go to those on the top. The amount going to the middle class is minute....500 for an individual or 1000 for a couple is smaller than the 600/1200 Bush gave us. He is advocating deficit spending in the time of trouble and refuses to raise the taxes on the rich. He is still borrowing from China and expanding the amount that will be owed by future generations. He is still stocking his cabinet with inside the beltway politicians. He is making the same promises that Bush made in 2001. "I will bring unity to the government and the country". "I am a uniter not a divider." "The buck stops with me" "I am the decider" "I will restore our reputation in the world". I will restore dignity to the office of the Presidency"
Qoutes are Obama-Bush. Obama-Bush. Obama-Bush.
Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.
NAFTA, GATT, FISA, huge deficits, the GWOT, bailouts for the rich, the looming entitlement problems. The list goes on.
Check back in 4 years and see if anything has changed.
TIKI Al - hah, the Donald must not have had much cash to put in them then. :-) For once I am with him.
and make sure to ignore posters like the jerk whose post is above this one as he or she is so negative I gotta wonder if there is a loaded gun in a drawer somewhere. When times are tough some people get tough as well as charitable and some people just whine. I know which one I want to be and which one I want to be around.
when it snows build a snowman :-)Byeeee.
"when it snows build a snowman :-)Byeeee."
Oh, how cute. Seems we have a Pollyanna in the group.
Judith, don't knock pessimism. At least the pessimist won't be disappointed, and if good things do happen, it'll be a bonus.
