Comments: Paradigm Shift

Um, how does the Maestro of Disaster still have a "platform"?

At this point Uncle Alan's views on economics are meaningless, or should be. He is a deeply unserious figure---a Beltway creature of lies, half-truths, deception and incompetence.

I assume that you're posting this solely for its comic effect, turkana!

euzo,

and for all those who still take him seriously, while attacking the krugmans and roubinis...

Be fair euzoius. This IS an important factoid because a significant number of the Beltway bobbleheads still worship at the altar of Alan the Greenspan.

We can use ANY source, no matter how repellent, venal and intentionally enigmatic, if it helps the media mudhens like your Mark Halperin, your David Gregory, or your Andrea Mitchell (whoops! HIS Andrea Mitchell) suddenly, see nationalization as a serious idea.

As long as one of their own says the magic word, they will excitedly repeat it until completely stuffed with crackers. Brawwwkk! Nationalization! Brawwwkk!

This is Obama's "post-partisanship" in action! Hopefully, he'll finally tell Larry Summers and his Wonder Dog, Geithner, to take a hike and do the logical thing. If the vaudeville team of Greenspan & Graham help us along, it's all good!

In this instance I feel temporary Nationalization would be the correct step to help us out of our banking troubles. (Of course I think this is what we should do to our Oil Industry and MIC, temporarily.)

What a radical thought from a Ayn Rand student.
I'm sure he's still trying to save his legacy.

Are the knuckledraggers finally tired of their scabs? I doubt it... more like a ruse to create controversy during the Obama Presidency?

This matters. Greenspan still has, deserved or not a gavitas within the establishment that is very useful in this case. As I see it, we can either nationalize and clean out the banks, which means letting the hopeless ones die, and have a healthy private sector again in about 10 years. Or else we can ape Japan and have an economic problem that may never go away.

Damn the Greater Left-Wing Socialist Conspiracy!

Look this story leaves out the key points. John Galt told him to do it and it is contingent on going to the Gold Standard.

The pendulum is indeed swinging, and I think those of us on the left need to take advantage of the times. There's an inspiring and moving podcast on that subject and the new book from the Progressive Ideas Network.
