But Tristan at Open Left has a good observation: let’s call it “rehab” and not nationalization. It’s a better bit of framing.
Josh at TPM has been discussing the term "receivership" and I think it's appropriate as well--plus it has the advantage of being what the FDIC has been doing for years and what the RTC did after the Reagan/Bush I savings & loan disasters.
"Rehab" is a fine word, I just fear it will take more explanation at a time when time to explain is at a premium. If we could settle on a single, informative word, I think it would be useful for our cause.
Posted by bartcopfan at February 25, 2009 08:47 AM...adores major league baseball as some sort of overriding way to view life....
GW certainly does have issues, but, be careful there! There are plenty of us who like baseball and think it (and other sports) provides lessons for life beyond sports (teamwork, the need for preparation prior to performance, just to name a couple off the top of my head).
In Will's case, at least some of his baseball adoration was self-interest: he has (or at least used to have ) a financial interest in the Baltimore Orioles.
Posted by bartcopfan at February 25, 2009 08:53 AMHeading out today to see the first ball game at the Cleveland Indians new spring training facility. Wonderful weather... 82 degrees, a baseball game, a beer, a hot dog... what could be better kids!
But your right, Will is a twit! He's had his ass handed to him the last couple of weeks on George Stephanopoulos show.
Posted by Seven of Six at February 25, 2009 09:55 AMPerhaps George Will's family background is "wasp" LOL. Known for condemming any open love and emotion and certainly maintaing an emotionless demeanor among themselves and family. Most western Europe and mediterranian countries Greece, Italy, France Spain Muscho Gusto wow wow men!!! Hug and kiss each other all the time. Come to think of it those same southern state gentlemen all agree with Will, thats their stye. Keep it coming I love it, their wolrd shrinks every day. Lions and tigers and bears oh my.
Posted by rmforsyth at February 25, 2009 10:13 AMHe didn't seem so upset at "The Kiss" Bush gave Lieberman. "Hugs=Bad" "Tonguing in Public=Good"???
I don't get it!
Posted by goalkeeper at February 25, 2009 10:48 AMGoalkeeper, I think the explanation you seek falls well within the bounds of IOKIYAR (it's OK if you're a Republican't).

Make me jealous much, 7o6? Sounds great!
Posted by bartcopfan at February 25, 2009 11:56 AM"George Will has issues. A grown man who has worn a bow tie for his entire adult life"
...And he sits at the back of the table or you would also see that he is wearing shorts.
Baseball ...4 minutes of action cram packed into 4 hours.
Posted by TIKI AL at February 25, 2009 12:34 PMGeorge Will is certainly not a renaissance man; that is he is not a well rounded person who would be comfortable on a basketball court or playing fields. He imagines himself to be an intellectual, but grew up being a nerd on the outside of society.
Posted by will-scarlet at February 25, 2009 01:06 PMcould it be GW is just another puke homophobe and it scares him when men hug?
Posted by headxray at February 25, 2009 01:44 PMI seem to recall a famous photo of McCain hugging Bush--not a peep from George Will. Maybe he thought it was Photo-Shopped.

Bingo!
Posted by euzoius at February 25, 2009 03:35 PMgeez the're all either/and/or/both homophobes, racsist, and misogynist....how else could a human be so deluded, corrupt and JUST PLAIN STUPID....
Posted by headxray at February 25, 2009 03:52 PMDeacon Blues …. Obama is reportedly prepared to allow for a slight slippage to . perhaps August 2010… This will still leave 40,000-50,000 troops in Iraq….Actually, this 'slippage' is not slight and the 40-50k ranges is not acceptable to serious people on the anti-war left. Nor is your Dear Leader's commitment to expand the war on Afghanistan. I am as disgusted with Obama as I am with the pseudo-libs who support his crap. ...he will continue to deny legal rights to the 600 detainees the U.S. is holding at Bagram, Afghanistan (1), just as Mr. Bush did..... another Obama filing on Friday, after Bush cried state secrets to fight a court order for the release of documents about his spying against an Islamic charity(2). Is Obama changing Bush policy? Not in that case either. Nor are these isolated cases. British judges are saying that records on the torture of a freed Gitmo detainee cannot be released because, first, Bush, and now, Obama, threatened to withhold intel cooperation (3). And the new CIA chief, Leon Panetta, is saying Obama will continue Bush‘s renditioning of detainees to other countries (4). Attorney General Eric Holder is asking the court to dismiss lawsuits seeking the release of missing Bush e-mails (5). President Obama is continuing both Bush‘s Office of Faith-based Initiatives (6) and Bush‘s tax cuts until their expiration next year (7)... Posted by Mike at February 26, 2009 11:32 AM
