I find Rush's fixation with Jindal so interesting. after all, Rush is pushing the "Obama is not a natural born citizen since his father was Kenyan" trope. but what about Jindal-whose parents were here on student visas-making him a so-called "anchor baby"-I guess IOKIYAR.
Jindal is less a Kenneth the Page to me that a John Edwards-tastes great, less filling. I still think that anyone who changes their name, religion, accent and does everything possible to distance from their background indicates an utter lack of any core principles.
Posted by susan at February 26, 2009 07:20 AMPalin-Jindal 2012! Please. Bring it on.

Susan: You are absolutely correct. Such person would do anything to get ahead and that is what is happening with Jindal and he is supposed to be the Obama of the Republican party. Not in a million years.
It's gotta be tough Piyush Jindal. He's not an American citizen, and he looks like a non-hairy non-green Grinch. Acts like the Grinch, too.
You nauseate me, Jiyush Jindal.
With a nauseaus super-naus.
You're a crooked jerky jockey
And you drive a crooked horse.
Jiyush Jindal...
You're a three decker saurkraut and toadstool
sandwich...
With arsenic sauce.
"I still think that anyone who changes their name, religion, accent and does everything possible to distance from their background indicates an utter lack of any core principles."
I hadn't thought of that. He is defintely a poster boy for Republican conformity.
The dude did look like a high schooler. One caller on sports radio of all places likened him to Jar Jar Binks. I love it!
Posted by midwestdem at February 26, 2009 09:53 AMPalin, Steele, Jindal, Cantor....that's what the GOP has put forward as their new face. I guess when the best you can do for a presidential candidate is a foul-mouthed, vendictive, 72 year old crank like McCain, your pretty much admitting your party has got NADA. Those four prove it.
Speaking of NADA, I happened to view a show called Life on Mars and in it was none other than Fred Thompson. Just think...about one year ago Fred Thompson was being trumpeted by the GOP as the next Reagan...a smooth talker that would blow by the King of 9/11 and Mormon Mitt and easily captivate the nation, securing the GOP nod. Now Fred's back where he deserves to be: a bit player in a fictional TV show.
OK, you guys are getting really brutal here. No need to personally attack the guy. He adopted the name "Bobby" when he was 4 years old. I doubt he was doing that for his future political career. He didn't change his accent. He's American, born in Louisiana. That's his real accent. Jesus, just because someone's parents are from India, you think he has to sound like Apu from The Simpsons? You guys are sounding as bad as republicans. No need to be racist and hateful.
Jindal's speech was terrible. Let's just focus on that. I don't even care that the delivery was bad. I don't think I've ever seen the other party's response delivered well. His was worse than most, but so what. The main thing is that the content was bad--regurgitating the same republican talking points about tax cuts being the solution to everything and government is always bad. Money for mass transit? It's pork. That's what was wrong with the speech. Leave the rest out of it. You guys are usually better than this.
Posted by CG at February 26, 2009 11:17 AMCG:as one who has more than a passing familiarity with "accent reduction lessons" I can tell you that Jindal's accent is NOT natural, but rather deeply practised.
I was merely raising the point that about Rush Limbaugh, above.
Posted by susan at February 26, 2009 11:49 AMHe may have reduced his accent, I don't know. I thought you and others were implying that he was putting on a fake southern accent when his real accent should be Indian. My brother-in-law is from bum-fuck Alabama and his accent is very mild, so I don't know if Jindal has reduced his on purpose or if that's just his natural accent. Still, he started using the name Bobby when he was 4 and converted to Catholicism in high school. If he was doing that for a political career, which I doubt, he would have chosen some form of Protestantism.
Posted by CG at February 26, 2009 11:58 AMjindal reps my home state of la. he does not sound like a son of la imho. how is saving lives from a volcano pork and wasteful spending? katrina and levies ringa bell? how is money to invest in improving our rail system wasteful? la is a welfare state. she takes more money in than she gives to the federal govt. that unemployment insurance benefits plenty of people. however, the great gentrification project they're trying to undergo in nola would crash and burn if he allowed for the funding. funny that the southern governors with presidential aspirations all want to turn down funds, constituents be damned. i like schumer's plan, all or nothing. where would they stand on that? its posturing, pure and simple. finally the people are seeing the brand for what it is. no ideas, no moral code, no looking out for the least fortunate, and no ruth.
btw and ot, where is the catholic church on the unauthorized exorcism???
And it was Phid who said he's not American. Maybe he was just making fun of people who think that. I don't know.
Posted by CG at February 26, 2009 12:00 PMLets say you are born in New England from a long time Wealthy New England family, went to Ivy League schools, are afraid of horses but are sold as a Cowboy from Texas? Jindal is the new Bush...I'm surprised Bobby didn't shuck a few crawdaddies during his speech or wrestle an alligator.
Posted by T2 at February 26, 2009 12:26 PMall pukes share this description: ALL HAT, NO CATTLE...the chimp glorified it...
Posted by headxray at February 26, 2009 01:53 PMheadxray, I don't know if you've seen the documentary called "Crawford"..about Bush's "ranch". It is very funny. One thing it reveals is that the "set" which was used every time any News Organization broadcast from the "Texas White House" was really a shed next to the local High School...not even on Bush's property...yet it was sold to the US public as Bush's rustic ranch to bolster the cowboy lie, and every news outlet was in on it.
Posted by T2 at February 26, 2009 02:07 PMI would get great pleasure from viewing that documentary and no I didn't know it was a staged set, however it does not surprise me as it demonstrates the lack of ethics to be found in TV coverage and most of the rest of the "fourth estate". I think if we can keep the flow of information on the internet relatively free and unrestricted those "distinguished" members of the press are going to find themselves out on their asses where they belong....perhaps next to the Crawford chimp "set".
Posted by headxray at February 26, 2009 02:52 PMAnyone who is trying to get intellyjunt deezine taught in science class has no business in politics.
Does Jindal have a secret fossil of a dinosaur saddle that he's saving for the primary?
Posted by TIKI AL at February 26, 2009 04:15 PMAnd it was Phid who said he's not American.
He is not. The republi-KKKon standard is having both parents being born Americans before a child born here can be an American. Indeed, until Piyush "Bobbie" Jindal posts his birth certificate online I don't think he is a Mercan.
He still looks like a shaved well-tanned Grinch. You gotta admit it, he really does. And the rumors in the community are that he's a bit light in the loafers with another special "buddy" of his...if you catch my drift. More toe-tapping information to follow...
Posted by phidipides at February 26, 2009 07:44 PMOf course Bobby Jindal will be using his real first name when he runs for President... it's not Piyush... it's William, as in Billy Bobby Jindal.
Why didn't Bobby Jindal come off as the Rhodes scholar he is? Communicated to the American people in an intelligent manner, not some folksy country bumpkin... he's got a long way to go.

...Anyone who believes in intellyjunt deezine is a rougue scholar.
Posted by TIKI AL at February 26, 2009 11:12 PMor maybe even a rogue scholar
