The best will be watching Fox intimate that the crowds are huge and the protesters have had enough....all to the theme of "we're not going to take it" ...this will be a monuMENTAL bomb!
Hannity yesterday tried to claim Reganomics took over a financial crisis that dwarfs the present day mess. Delusional is to too weak a description.
Posted by Goyo at April 15, 2009 07:10 AMAs best I can discern, the mindless Flotsam of the Right is basically "protesting" that they lost the election of 2008. That's a pretty unimpressive thing to be "protesting" in a democracy, but it does (once again) demonstrate the profoundly anti-democratic impulse of the "conservative" movement.
The "stated" reason for the teabagging charade---high(er) taxes (for the rich)---can't really be taken seriously even by the doofus-participants, however great their peasant mentality of bowing and scraping to their wealthy overlords and carrying whatever sewage is presented to them by their Noise Machine.
Thus, the Tricorn Boys of 2009 are angry that they lost---lost the election, lost the arguments of the past 20 years and lost their pathetic sense of confidence that their Glorious Leaders would always keep winning elections by 50% + 1.
Now, their feeling of certain electoral success badly shaken, they are "angry" at being the losers, and appear to have some vague glimmerings that the same old filthy rag bag of shit n' nonsense (Small Gub'mint! Tax cuts! Deregulation! Terra-Russkies!) may not persuade a (slight) majority of even pea-brained Muricans ever again. And then what can they do?
So the wingnut losers sense a new song n' dance is needed, and they're thrashing around for it---a new wingnut bandmaster and a new hit parade. I predict that the "Der Fuhrer" model is where our shitbrained American Right will ultimately squat down for its next vile dump on the hapless Homeland. So Seig Heil, Rushbo and Gruppenfuhrer Beck! It's yours for the taking if you're just "man" enough, teabaggers!
Sinclair Lewis said when Fascism comes to America it will be carrying a bible and wrapped in a flag---while tootling a fife and bangin' a regimental drum, I'll add.
Posted by euzoius at April 15, 2009 07:14 AMApparently these are all "citizens" who are freaking out that a legitimate election was won by a black man...threatens their narrow grasp of reality as most of the planet sees it...a black president who is intelligent, thoughtful and well spoken..all the antithesis of their hero the chimporer....the right wing's worst nightmare in living color....
Posted by headxray at April 15, 2009 07:49 AMThe left wing spin machine sure is ginned up over this one. Clearly they are afraid this will resonate with middle America better than the anti war rallies they staged during Bush.
Funny how the same wingnuts that decried the use of deficit spending to get us out of the Clinton recession and the economic aftermath of 9/11 are all for far more massive deficit spending to bail out Obama, Geithner and Summers buddies in the banking business.
It is o.k. that Olbermann, Maddow and other nutters that get their talking points from MSNBC don't get the message of today's protest. Normal Americans will.

Darn tootin' they will. They'll realize that you guys are comedy gold! No one's afraid of you. That squealing you hear, that's hysterical laughter. This has got to be the funniest protest evah!
I understand the NY teabagging numbers are now in the ones...Be sure to group together, and bring the camera in real close to pretend like you got a "crowd" in the...tens.
Posted by Twinky P* at April 15, 2009 08:54 AMI'm having a difficult time figuring out what exactly the GOP goofballs are trying to communicate with their stupid Tea Party. Complaining about Obama raising taxes?? Well just about everyone making less than $150 grand a year just got a Tax Cut in their recent paycheck...so it can't be that. Taxation without Representation? Well Obama is representing a large majority of us, winning 52% in the election and now with 70% trusting him on the economy....so it can't be that. Humm....Obama is black? Yeah, we know. Obama is a Democrat? Yeah, he is. The GOP is on the outside looking in? Sure, yeah. The GOP is going to be on the outside for a long time if the best they can do to solve the country's problems is ditch work to play Tea Party? Yeah, pretty much. There's got to be something else, right? OK, maybe not.
Posted by T2 at April 15, 2009 09:00 AMThe average American is smart enough to know that in spite of the miniscule temporary payroll tax deduction, state taxes have increased, cig tax has increased, energy taxes are going to be increased and the huge debt and deficits being run up will require even more tax increases.
You don't have to be a Paul Krugman to see the economic writing on the wall regards to higher taxes that are coming our way thanks to your dear leader.
Posted by manapp99 at April 15, 2009 09:15 AMWell, T2 most of the protesters are prolly gonna be homeless people paid by FreedomWorks to stand around and hold signs. The rest are elderly shut ins who watch Fox Comedy Network and mom's-basement dwelling cheeto eaters like these trolls, looking to get away from the "why don't you get a job" shouts from upstairs. Wingnuts like peter and this silly man-ape need to tell themselves that their gatherings are scaring us, heehee, because they supposedly "surround" us, 'cos mommy's yelling is making them feel a little small-dicked (ie, reality is setting in).
Posted by Twinky P* at April 15, 2009 09:17 AMYou're pulling your punches here, Paradox. There's a lot more blood in real protests. And there's nothing like walking a 2-mile non-violent protest lined arm-to-arm with antagonistic cops.
CNN, justa few minutes ago: "Conservatives are showing they know their way around the Internet just as well as liberals, as more than 300 organized "tea party" protests raged across the nation Wednesday." RAGED?? OMG, there must be bodies out in the street!

This is clearly a regressive tax. I know you don't care about the poor and working poor in America but this is clearly a tax aimed primarily at them.
I can't wait to see your excuse why raising state, local and sales taxes on these same people is a "good idea" as well.
Posted by manapp99 at April 15, 2009 09:55 AM"Amazing how none of you "conservatives" were worried about the fact that rising national debt was going to mean higher taxes in the future while George Bush was doubling the national debt for 8 years."
Amazing how you didn't pay attention as conservatives were loudly complaining how the GOP congress and W did not cut government spending. This was the main reason that the Dems took over the congress in 06. Dems who, by the way, did not cut spending either.
Of course, paying attention is not what the left does.
Posted by manapp99 at April 15, 2009 10:00 AMConsider this...
-> If you’re a 50-year old-with a college degree, you will pay approximately $81,000 over your working life just to pay the interest on the debt in the Obama budget.
-> If you’re a 40-year-old, you’ll pay $132,000.
-> And if you’re a 20-year-old, just starting out after college, you will pay a whopping $114,000 just to service the interest on the debt created by the Obama budget.
Since close to 50% of the population does not pay taxes, these numbers are probably on the (very) low side.
Posted by Consider This at April 15, 2009 10:01 AMOn Fox "news" a shot of the protest is self explanatory.

Posted by TIKI AL at April 15, 2009 10:30 AMOh, man, it gets better - The DC protests can’t carry out most of their plans, because they didn’t secure permits. Protesters, using a rented truck to haul a million tea bags, began unloading their cargo at the park this morning but were told by officials that they didn’t have proper permits and must move the tea. I hope they were cited for littering!
Now that's planning! Hahahahaha!

Manapp99: The teabag goes in the cup...not up your ass where you keep you head!!
And swirling the issue around in his mouth, manapp99 gently nibbles at the substance of the protest. Suckling at it, and flicking his tongue around it with well practice strokes, he gently throats his rejoinder. All the time savoring the aroma from his parties political orifice that so pungently wafts across his nose.
Amazing how you didn't pay attention as conservatives were loudly complaining how the GOP congress and W did not cut government spending.
Didn't happen. You guys were busy masturbating to war and death. YOUR mantra was that the deficits would be paid off by increased economic activity which would increase income for all, leading to increased tax receipts. This cued recall working for your befuddled little brain?
I can't wait to see your excuse why raising state, local and sales taxes on these same people is a "good idea" as well.
Really? Seems people had this problem in Spades under Bush. Where were you then?
Since close to 50% of the population does not pay taxes, these numbers are probably on the (very) low side.
Fucking kids and old people! We need a change in labor laws so children can work 7 days a week, 12 hours a day. Think how that will help business!
But...consider this: 300,000 people earn 53% of the yearly income in the United States. And consider this: On which they pay an average 17% in taxes. Then consider this: The other 150,000,000 million people take home the other 47% of income, with that skewed to the top earners in that group.
Posted by phidipides at April 15, 2009 10:55 AM"this was the main reason the Dems took over the Congress in 2006"
God, what delusion. An election almost completely turning on a failed foreign military occupation is seen by Mancrapp00 as being "really" about the GOP Congress not cutting gub'mint spending.
Is that why you voted for a Dem in that election, Mancrapp? Is the theory that conservative Repubs returned the Dems to power because of rage over the Repub Debt Machine?
Yes, indeed, that was truly the issue of the 2006 election for America's "conservatives" and why they (regretfully) had to throw their Repubs out of power. It had to be!
And the loony Mancrapper thinks that the LEFT "doesn't pay attention". Crapman, I think you are literally insane. Hopefully your family has figured this out and surreptitiously started replacin' your arsenal with chocolate easter bunnies whittled into the shape of a gun.....

Posted by TIKI AL at April 15, 2009 11:38 AMGosh, this is the best day ever! Apparently, a someone has graciously said the teabaggers can drop trou...I mean, drop their load...I mean...A D.C. think tank, the free market Competitive Enterprise Institute, said it would allow the dumping of the tea bags in its 12th floor conference room instead.
Number one, how will they get the truck up there? Also, will they be schlepping their bags up to the 12th floor only to have to turn around and drag their load back down to the dumpsters after a picture is taken?? My goodness, I haven't laughed so hard since JeffyLube the man-ho brandished a map of the US during a panel on journalism to show how many red states there were, but the map was green, because his printer had run out of red ink. And that was fucking hilarious!
Posted by Twinky P* at April 15, 2009 11:42 AMwatching a bit of Cable News....the 'reporters' are trying to interview totally berserk Republicans similar to mancrapp and it is a sight simply too priceless. If ever there was to be a definitive death knell for the Republican Party, this so-called Tea Party may be it. As funny as it is tragic.
The fact is that counted all together across the country, the total Baggers won't add up to the attendance at a typical Obama Campaign rally last year. To all you mancrappers, get your old newspapers out and check the crowd at Obama's swearing in on January 22. That is what an American Majority looks like. Mancrapp..this is America, love it or leave it.
If ever there was to be a definitive death knell for the Republican Party, this so-called Tea Party may be it.
One might say, "they blew their wad" with this hilarious effort... But at least Homeland security got all these folks on tape. Just in case, ya know. T2, is it true the DC debacle was shut down because some idiot threw a teabag at the White House? This is the Republican brain trust! Yippee!
Posted by Twinky P* at April 15, 2009 12:32 PMI heard they didn't have an assembly permit for the WH area. idiots.
Posted by T2 at April 15, 2009 01:07 PMThe demonstration in Iowa was much better organized - probably because a local real estate agency owner worked hard to make it work. They had their permits, got a 1000 people to show up (but getting 1000 white people to protest taxes ain't tough), had shirts, and were ready for the media. I'm absolutely sick that this guy has some of my money via his agency.
Some speakers in the group, organized by citizens, said they are non-partisan, even though many voiced support for socially conservative ideas.
The Rev. Christian Magnell, a Lutheran minister from the Des Moines metro area, for example, said in a prayer that he's sorry his country has "killed children and called it a choice."
Part of the protest wandered off into the recent Iowa court ruling on same-sex equality too. It goes into effect next Thursday, the 21st.
Posted by idiosynchronic at April 15, 2009 01:42 PMThe baggers are philosophically opposed to begging the hated gub'mint for the "right" to hold their revolution!! They refuse to bow down before the tyrant Obama and the Oppressive Federal Gub'mint! They are Free Men with Natural Rights!!
It's a REVOLUTION man, they're "armed and dangerous"! They don't need no stinkin' "assembly" permit!

Posted by Twinky P* at April 15, 2009 02:19 PMAmazing how you didn't pay attention as conservatives were loudly complaining how the GOP congress and W did not cut government spending.
And how exactly were conservatives suggesting that the GOP and Bush "cut government spending"? Oh, right, by killing those horrible "earmarks". That would have brought things right under control. Meanwhile several billion dollars a week was being pissed away funding George's Excellent Adventure in Iraq.
This was the main reason that the Dems took over the congress in 06. Dems who, by the way, did not cut spending either.
So the people who wanted the government to cut spending abandoned the ruling GOP in favor of the "tax and spend" Democrats expecting that the "tax and spend" Democrats were going to gut government spending? Is that you're argument?

No, not at all. I mean, Zimbabwe has a black man as President and that is working out really, really well. And, also, the Obama is not black, his mother was white: unless you, of course, subscibe to the "one-drop rule."

Posted by Seven of Six at April 15, 2009 07:33 PMI don't believe the left has to concede this as a wedge issue for the right, especially the rank-and-file like you and me. After all the original TARP was put through by the Bush administration. The left can bring up the vast dollars still going into the Defense Department, the huge budget increases under Reagan and Bush, and the budget surplus under Clinton. The left could join the right in demanding responsible taxation and use of tax dollars, and pull the rug out from under this ploy.
Posted by Kevin at April 15, 2009 08:22 PMThe left could join the right in demanding responsible taxation...
Find the responsible right and we can talk. They don't exist. The Left is calling for responsible taxation and spending, especially spending to end the right's massacre of the economy. The right, under the tutelage of their wealthy puppet masters, is calling for lowering taxes on the wealthy. There can be no meeting of the minds because these white extremists have no mind, just responses to what others tell them to respond to. They are worthless sorts of douche-nozzles.

Posted by Goyo at April 15, 2009 09:39 PMThese tea-baggers need to work on their message. They should note that the most effective protests tend to have a strong single theme and aim they are trying to achieve. Something like "End the War" or "Equal Rights for Minorities", or even "No taxation without representation". That way people who observe the protest understand what you are all standing around in the drizzle for. "Lower-taxes-for-the-rich-Obama's-a-communist-fascist-muslim-burn-the-books-my-taxes-went-down-and-I'm-mad-that-my-side-lost-the-election-we-don't-want-change" is just too confusing for someone driving by in a car.
