The corporate press will never call our torture "torture".
We've already had Bush military judges call it torture, directly. The service JAG have said time and time again that waterboarding is torture. The International Red Cross calls our "interrogation" torture. Doesn't matter.

She was a translator and killed herself when they tried to make her participate in torture. She left a sucide note which the Army hid, and it took a reporter to get the true story.

Under current He Said/She Said "principles" of US "journalism", if the American Right Wing refuses to accept a fact or expert consensus ("Grass is not green!"), then the fact is "disputed" and reported as though it were up for "discussion".
Wingnut "logic" seems to be that Great Countries don't torture helpless people, and Murica (especially under "conservatives") is GREEAAATTT, hence we could never have tortured anyone. QED, in wingnuttia.
