funny thing this...
all that consider these "harsh interrogation techniques," have not actually undergone the procedures. christopher hitchens, waterboarded, scared shitless, called it torture this guy bet he could do it for 15 seconds, lasted 4-5:

so, i say to you that claim these techniques are justified, put up or shut up. just remember, these guys did this in controled settings. the other's, didn't.
so, next time you say the ends justify the means, just strap on a hood, lay inverted on a board, and have someone who hates you start pouring water over your face.
i bet you will shit your pants, then clean yourself up, and agree that this is torture. we sent people to jail for this folks. its not ok in any circumstance.
Posted by anthony at April 23, 2009 01:35 PMVery sad incident.
Many more soldiers lost years of their lives in jail and dishonorable discharges from orders that approved the torture.
Gen. Karpinski responds to the dick cheney on Countdown tonight:
"If these torture techniques were really for the good of our country and were OK, THEN WHERE WERE YOU when the soldiers in a COMBAT ZONE carrying out YOUR ORDERS were prosecuted?!? How DARE YOU speak up now to defend yourself when you wouldn't defend those on the front line!"Posted by Seven of Six at April 23, 2009 03:52 PM
"WHERE WERE YOU" - in a secure, undisclosed location. Totally insulated and protected from the criminal acts he commanded. History will show Dick Cheney as the sitting vice president who ignored the CIA's 9/11 warnings, then took full political advantage of the aftermath to commit war crimes. It might, at some point, show a bit more than that.
Posted by T2 at April 23, 2009 05:00 PMSix months earlier, Arizona also sent the first woman soldier to die in Iraq:
..."SPC Lori Ann Piestewa (December 14, 1979–March 23, 2003) was a U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps soldier killed during the same Iraqi Army attack in which her friend Jessica Lynch was injured. A member of the Hopi tribe, Piestewa was the first woman in the U.S. armed forces killed in the 2003 Iraq war and is the first Native American woman to die in combat while serving with the U.S. military."
They renamed "Squaw Peak", "Piestewa Peak" after the brave Hopi Indian girl.
We already have a Petersen House Museum in Tempe, what the hell, should we rename Tempe Town Lake, Peterson Pond?
Posted by TIKI AL at April 23, 2009 05:47 PMthanks for posting that 7of6 - she makes a great point. But Cheney doesnt care. Whenever I think of that souless cadaver I think of Dylan's line in Masters of War: " I would follow your casket to make sure you are dead! ..."
sick sick sick SICK
Alyssa Petersons are the ONLY heroes anymore of this SICK fucking nation
