Much of what you're saying is what was being said about Democrats four years ago.

Maybe the right-wing hate machine doesn't work any more, but I wouldn't count on it.

This day has been a long time coming for the Republican Party, but they earned it. When the Republicans decided to adopt Nixon's "Southern Strategy" by catering to the racists among us and embrace the old, bigoted Dixiecrats whole-heartedly they started down this road. Now, they chase anyone who doesn't agree with their cramped view of the world out of the party, worsening further their chances for a comeback. No matter how bleak Democratic Party prospects might have been in 1994, 2002, or 2004, its future never seemed to be so imperiled. Republicans placed themselves in this condition and continue to do so every day. They've never wanted the future and now they're reaping their vision.

It certainly looks that way at this snapshot in time. Politcal landsapes can change in a heartbeat. There are inumerable things that could go south in any Administration.

Though why people continue to expect sound governance from folks that despise government is still a mystery to me.

"streak of particularly bad luck" ha! it's a Streak of terribly bad decisions. These idiots simply can't see their hand in front of their faces. They need to do the following: dump, as in Fire, tell to leave, banish, every one of the following: Rove, Cheney, Gingrich, Bush, Bush, McConnell, McOld, Boner, Rindal, Palin, Inhofe....geez I can't remember all the crooks...but you get the idea. Trying to remake a cake using the same ingredients that ruined it the first time will not work now, not in 2010, not in 2012, not in 2016, ever. Build your house on fear (racist, terrorist, big govn't...you name it) and try to sell it after its proven bad is just not going to work anymore. You can't fool all the people all the time. It's done. over.

"You can't fool all the people all the time."

The present Administration will find this out in due time.

Nobody wants the Republican Party ground into dust more than I do, but I think your speculations is so much chest-thumping. The Republicans will not become Harold Stassen. They will come back. And the fact remains that we will need them to come back if independents cannot coalesce into a viable option for more voters.

Gee Doxie, why vote if all you're after is an end to the opposition? Where was Obama just four years ago? Just a newly sworn in freshman senator. He had potential, but, this was Hillary Clinton's time. Point being, it early right now. The past governor of Arkansas looks good.

"After Bush vs. Gore, the Iraq war, torture, climate change denial, and Katrina it’s obvious the felons sneer at the rule of law, democracy, gender equality, the bill of rights and most of all anyone who dares to disagree with them, oh the persecution the obnoxious dears have to undergo for being such jerks."

You don't see yourself falling into the same crap? This is only your opinion, your view. This isn't at all what President Obama stands for.

shit-fer-brains pete you have always demonstrated a complete lack of anything resembling common sense and continue that..

It is again, at best humorous that an idiot like you can presume to speak for what this President represents..

It's like Dylan sez: "It's wonder that you still know how to breathe."

This can be said of the entire crack(head)TLC troll patrol....

An immutable fact, eh? Paradox, if you or any of us could really truly forecast future events, we wouldn't be bothered with posting stuff on this forum. We'd be relaxing on our private yacht, counting our millions won from gambling.
Anyhow, just after Bush first edged his way to power, who'd have forecast he'd be returned with a good majority for a second term?
As Shakespeare said, "Shit happens".

Colin, Bush won both elections with the help of good old voter fraud. However, I agree that one should never count them out. Remember, this is the Party of thieves, liars, distortionists, manipulators, and criminals. They will do anything to gain back their postion of power.

Republicans offer solutions? Your kidding, right?

Paradox, love the new logo.

Judith - voter fraud in BOTH elections? I thought the second was legit. Unless by voter fraud is meant persuading the electorate Saddam Hussein had something to so with September 11? Not to meantion those weapons...
