Comments: National Elections in India

Predictions scare people at the moment, but people forget them after a while. That’s why the people who get mileage out of global warming scary stories get away with being continually proven wrong. People forget.

I remember. Al Gore said global warming would cause seas to rise 20 feet. Then some studies said only 16 to 19 feet. Hang on. Oops. Again.

“The global sea level will only rise about 10 feet if the West Antarctic ice sheet collapses,” the Washington Post reports, noting “it’s only about half the previously predicted rise.”

Then there’s the fine print, which never seems to make it into the headlines (or first seven paragraphs, for that matter):

“How fast this might happen was unclear, but an earlier study suggested the melting could take 500 years, which would mean a sea level rise of about a quarter-inch a year.”

Man the boats! Tide’s up another quarter of an inch! Oh, the humanity!

Of course, that’s only if a bunch of ice falls into the water, as predicted.

The issue was Indian election and what we hear from JFixx is just the GOP talking points. I was surprised that Tax cuts were not mentioned. And how about prayers in the school, and gay marriage? I guess these GOPers just cannot accept the results of last election and keep complaining. Look at a poor country like India. Right after the election results were known, the leader of the opposition said that the decision of people is to be honored and he will do everything to cooperate with the government. While here in the most advanced and richest country the GOPers have become a party of NO and are opposing our president not because of his policies but because he is a Democrat. Bush also had a stimulus package before he left office and I did not hear anything like it is adding to the deficit from these same GOPers.
